Absolutely. Which is why I added the context of 20-win regular seasons as well. The last two season we have hit win number 20 by the 24th game and 25th game respectively.

We have now reached 20 wins for the 13th time in school history. Mccasland has 5 of them. Jones has 5 and Blakeley has the other 3.
This is also just the 8th time in school history that we have reached 20 in the regular season. 4 of those belong to Mccasland.
He has certainly built a Hall of Fame resume.

Great win. Hope there were plenty of people there who went home eager to come back.

These announcers are horrific when it comes to Mean Green lore. Said we beat Texas in the NCAA Tournament two years ago and that Roosevelt Smart scored 40 at Rice that year (it was 3 seasons prior back in 2018).

Good news is they are off to a good start putting together the foundation of the defense for the next four years. Bad news is these guys are going to be 18 this season going against a bunch of 21-24 year olds. What the coaches can do with the guys already on campus will be key for this season, but we got some guys who look like they’ll be able to play.

We really landed just about everyone Morris brought in on officials. Look at the last 3 weekends of official visitors and we got all but the kicker Kim, Dylan Brown-Turner, and Judea Milon who was already committed to Memphis.

The only reason I can see he would be worth a shot if things do not work out is because with the way FSU's recruiting is trending they will probably be adding 4/5 Star HS players and recruits at his position. It really seems like they are looking at him as a "project". He is clearly the lowest rated player they are signing. Guess he wanted P5.
If him wanting to go P5 was the main factor here, he could’ve committed to a P5 before us the first time around. This wasn’t his first P5 offer, but they recruited him just as hard as us, if not harder.

Yep, I'll say his position coach knows more than DMN.
Exactly. They’re just going off of what the publicly available record shows which is that he’s still a Texas State commit. Until he officially decommits and changes his commitment to us.

All the more reason to keep a good relationship with him. I like the Ellison linebacker Matthew Moore a lot so this doesn't hurt as much.
Maybe. If he goes to FSU and can’t crack the two-deep then he probably wouldn’t be a good portal target. When we have signed P5 transfers in the past, if they haven’t been guys who could at least sniff the two deep, they haven’t done much better here. The guys who at least pushed to have their name in the mix, that’s the guys we want. Trice, Pegram, Enoch Jackson. If Brown-Turner is like that and hits the portal, yeah could be worth re-recruiting.

Huge. Can’t wait to see what he does on campus

Right... MB. I thought Jayven already committed before today for some reason...
The other North Shore safety, Evan Jackson, did.

For instance, Today they list the following:
QB Depth: Ja'Michael Brown (committed to us in 2014 as a WR), Will Kuehne and Armani Gilmore.
S Depth: Jevin Murray and Jordan Nichols
CB: Donshay Douglas and Tavorice Weaver
OT: Eric Williams, Jacob Farrell and Rayvon Crum
RB: Nick Smith and Roderick Brown
Ja’michael Brown didn’t commit to us as a WR. It’s even worse. He committed to us, and played, for basketball.

247 used to be on top of their updates. It now seems they are focusing on the P5s and getting around to the G5s as time permits.
As it pertains to us, Brune worked there. Since he left we don’t have anyone on the inside, so to speak.

6’2” 180 lb QB from Eaton High School. Also holds an offer from Rice. Threw for 16 TDs against 11 INTs with 1,612 passing yards. Added 14 rushing TDs and 962 rushing yards.
Assuming this is a QB offer, this is the new staff’s first 2024 QB offer.

Watching Rubin and Abou this season has been a chore. Feels like they’ve regressed when we REALLY needed them to take a step.
Rubin’s shot looks like it has a hitch in it this season. Either that or he brings his shooting elbow further away from his vertical plane and it just looks ugly. Regardless, 9-43 on the season from deep speaks for itself.

Almost like combining a grueling, tedious style and six games in two weeks without depth takes a serious toll on the roster. Not an excuse - just pointing out they look worn down and why energy is probably lacking vs. not wanting it.
Wish we’d give Christian Moore some run. He might be the most pure PG on this roster and has shot the ball well in his limited opportunities. I get Mccasland needs to trust his guys defensively before he gives them minutes, but with the turnovers piling up it seems Moore’s abilities could help with some of our issues, as well as fatigue.

So Perry and Huntsberry have another year together?
Yes. Perry does for sure. Huntsberry is a little confusing to me on how he still has a year remaining but he is listed as a Senior, not a “5th” or “6th” like the other guys out of eligibility.

Guard listed as a Junior technically has 3 more years of eligibility left after this season due to COVID year and presumably taking a redshirt for this season.
Should make it 4 scholarships opening up for this offseason (Eady, Martinez, Browne, Zephir), with 1 already filled by signee Alex Cotton.

I find it all bullshit. High school kids didn't get a 5th year. Pro players didn't get a frivolous year tacked to their contract.
Yet, here we are pushing an extreme amount of power to the college players. The "covid" year, the wild west of transferability, and the NIL. It's all laughable. Remember the pro NIL people: "pLaYeRs sHoUlD bE aBlE tO mAkE mOnEy fOr aUtOgRaPh sIgNiNgS". Logical people said it would be a slippery slope. It wasn't even slippery or a slope. It was straight down to the pits of dirty pay for play at its inception. The toothpaste is out of the tube and I've had enough of it. The game will be ruined and less and less people will be interested. And it may sound like an old man yells at cloud argument, but I'm 35. The value isn't there. Simply put, these practical kids aren't worth it to me. Attendance will eventually putter and donations will dry because we know the money is going to line pockets of 18-22 year olds. My ego isn't fragile enough to pour money into this so I can go to the water cooler and tell work buddies how great my university is. In short time, many people will have this thought pattern.
Example: the current fiasco at UF, with that QB. He agreed (or said he did) to 13 MILLION. UF was under the impression the agreement was "only" 9.5. Or they could "only" allott 9.5 towards him. A HS kid walking a HS hallway tomorrow took his ball and went home because he was "only" going to be pulling in 9.5 million dollars over 4 years, or say, 190 years of an average teacher pay in Texas. This kind of money isn't on UNTs level, but it's all relative.
Clown World.
It was a tough position but I tend to agree. Football was probably most effected so it made more sense there than basketball, for example.

I agree a football player should be given a full academic year, including the spring semester "after" their eligibility has expired.
But if he still has sport eligibility left, and enters the transfer portal, he should be treated as opting-out of his remaining scholarship, including the upcoming semester.
Right but my point is, why should the player be seen as opting out of their scholarship for the remainder of the school year that they already fulfilled their full obligation of participating in their season? Why should a basketball player who enters the portal after their season finishes in March be granted their scholarship for both semesters while a football player who also played their entire season that school year be only given one semester or scholarship?

20-Win Seasons

Wait, I’m confused by the wording here. It’s worded like you’re saying not a single player on their roster is superior to a single player on ours. Yes they have a single player who is superior to any of our players. Anyone who gets PT for them is superior to guys like Chrisdon Morgan or Rasheed Browne.
Obviously that’s not what you mean. What do you mean exactly? None of their players are superior to our top guys? None of their guys 1-13 are better than our corresponding guy at 1-13?
