  3. 6'0" 180 lb safety for Derby High School in Derby, Kansas. Originally from Mesquite Horn. We have offered. Also holds offers from Tulsa, Army, Southern Illinois, Western Illinois, and UTEP. 4. Commits to TCU. Really thought we had a good shot before TCU came in last night. Bowie is a big TCU pipeline.
  5. Absolutely. And I don't know that KP is the sole person to thank for this, but I love that we've broadened our horizons in DT recruiting. Like you said, the best DTs are stockpiled by the big programs which makes it tough for schools like us. Unless you have an ace recruiter or two. What makes things even more difficult is if you're limiting where you're recruiting DTs from. Even if that state is Texas, it's hard for kids to fall through the cracks here, especially DTs. Just this class we've offered DTs from Louisiana, Georgia, and Utah. And we may have a shot at pulling the kid from Utah, and he's a legit nose/1-tech prospect.
  6. We actually offered Lampkin as an offensive guard. We're the only team to have offered him on the offensive side of the ball. Also, we're recruiting Kaden Jackson as an offensive lineman. A few other offers out are Mikorri Reese (Louisiana), Quentez Johnson (Georgia), and Bobby Leath (Coffeyville CC). These guys have big time offer lists as well though. Then you have a few guys like Dustin McWhorter (Graham) and Carl Thompson (Guyer) who project as 3-techniques on the next level. Same with RD Wegmann from WF Rider.
  7. No, 90 was right (wth!). He made his decision right before signing day. So no, he wasn't up there in the spring.
  8. Really cool to hear! Always cool to see our players make good use of the degrees and experience they got here and transition it into the workplace. Seems like a good fit, with Nathan Tune.
  9. Even though they may be rated higher, there's no question in my mind that Mann is the best of the bunch. I've been high on him since we were the first team to offer and since then about 20 schools have offered. The thing about Mann is that he doesn't have any single offer that stands out as a team we can't beat. Sort of like Sam Miller's offer list, schools like Houston and Kansas State. Just more offers. We've offered some pretty good ends. I also like Josh Little from Oklahoma. That's why I think it may be a case of who commits first may get the last spot.
  10. Thanks! Good to hear! Yeah, it didn't seem likely that Mac would let them in on scholarship due to the way they left UNM and the fact that they were good, not great prospects in high school. Great additions as walkons, if that's what they are.
  11. Not at all. They aren't on the roster, so if anything it's more likely that they don't end up here. But until I officially hear otherwise, I'm still considering them being here and counting towards the class.
  12. Yeah, but it's hard to see any of them not. Chumley is too talented for the coaches to pass on. As for the DeSoto kids, I think the last school in the country that Coach Mac wants to upset is DeSoto. If he doesn't honor their commitments and bring them in on scholarship in the spring, then that could be bad for our reputation at a school that we really, really like to recruit and currently have good standing at. So unless they choose not to make it in or don't get in because of grades, etc, then it's hard to see them not enrolling under scholarship.
  13. Yes, the Jackson's are both DBs but we have offered a few JUCO DBs and I think we take at least 1 true high school safety. We're thin there on our roster, particularly with regards to underclassmen safeties. Also, not entirely sure they're on campus yet or if they're coming in on scholarship. As for Chumley, Coach Mac stated on signing day that he will attend his first positions meeting with Coach Canales and be given a shot at quarterback. Personally, I think he ends up at tight end, but we have offered a few other tight ends including Hunter Herndon and Chance Bishop. I would be surprised if the coaches didn't get Bishop, or someone like that, this class to be a run-blocking specialist at tight end and be like a 6th offensive lineman like Andrew Power was.
  14. It may be wise for Holmes, Eli Howard, or any other defensive end to strongly consider committing soon. We already have 3 defensive linemen committed including the grayshirts. 2 are defensive ends (Miller and Graham). I can't see us taking any more than 1 more defensive end. However, a guy like Kenneth Mann (now up to 20 offers) is someone you make room for. Still holding out hope for him, but trying not to get too greedy after getting Sam Miller.
  15. This is a very trick subject and we only have an iota of light shed on this compared to what we'll have in January and February. But with 3 commits we're already starting to see the class take shape. We should have 25 spots for this year's class. I'm not 100% sure which walkons have been put on scholarship, but if they've only played one season for us before being put on scholarship then they will count towards this class. Also grayshirts and FBS transfers count. I believe Sheldon Wade and Erick Evans were placed on scholarship after spending just one season (2013 as walkons). They may count towards this class, assuming they were officially put on scholarship. Rashad and Vershad Jackson, UNM transfers, should count as well assuming they do end up transferring here on scholarship. Sam Rice, SMU transfer will count as well. Finally, the three grayshirts (Jon Graham, Shaq Jackson, and Caleb Chumley) will be a part of this class as well. *Between all those players, that is 8 out of our 25 spots filled up. Throw in our 3 current commits and that's 11 total. So while we only have 3 commits, we may have as few as 14 spots left in this class. Abdul Beecham said the coaches told him they plan on taking 5 offensive linemen. The coaches said at a junior day that they plan on taking 4 receivers. Since we already have a receiver committed, that's still 8 more spots right there. Meaning potentially just 6 spots for any qbs, running backs, tight ends, linebackers, defensive backs, or athletes. Going to be interesting to see how the numbers work out in this class.

  17. That doesn't have anything to do with the stability of his commitment. Players still receive offers after they commit, and schools still offer kids after they commit. Now if he is taking visits to those schools, then maybe his commitment isn't that solid.
  18. Thank you. I wasn't necessarily responding as if they were. I was just pointing out that it was not out of line for people to feel disappointied about only having 1 commitment prior to yesterday. But, as we all know, recruiting is a marathon and it doesn't matter if you feel disappointed in the class in June. How the class ends up on signing day is infinitely more important. And yes, to say this coaching staff can't recruit based on how things stand in mid-June is ridiculous, IMO.
