  1. Yeah I’d say so. Especially because as we raise NIL money, we may have money to retain some of the top skill players but offensive line might be where the gap in NIL pool between us and the P5s starts to show.
  2. I put together a depth chart approximation using the positions and player listings from our released depth charts this past season. Bold and underlined = returning starter Bold = returning two deep Regular text = scholarship player not in the two-deep last season OFFENSE: Z - RS SR Damon Ward Y - RS SR Blair Conwright LT - RS FR Desmond Magiya LG - SR Gabe Blair RS JR Leke Asenuga C - SR Jett Duncan (started at RT but was starting at C last spring) RG - RS SR Paula Vaipulu RT - RS SR Larry Moore RS FR Isaac Sohn X - RS JR Zhighlil McMillan H - SO Landon Sides RS SR Jordan Smart TE - RS JR Xzavior Kautai QB - RS JR JD Head RB - RS JR Ikaika Ragsdale RS SO Qualon Farrar DEFENSE: DE - SR Vic Alobwede SR Rodney Green Jr. RS FR Keith Smith NG - SR Roderick Brown SR Marcus Moore LEO - RS JR Fehi Vailea SR Kortlin Rausaw RS SR Kaghen Roach SLB - RS SO Ethan Wesloski SR Jaylen Smith RS SO Chavez Brown MLB - RS FR Dietrich Moore WLB - SR Jordan Brown JR CJ Garnett RS FR Matthew Moore FS - SR Nick Nakwaasah JR Bryce Linder BS - SR Phil Hill SO Evan Jackson SR Harold West STAR - SO Jayven Anderson CB - SR Ridge Texada RS FR Taylor Starling CB - SR Loronzo Thompson RS FR Brian Nelson RS FR Kollin Lewis
  3. Looks like Cedar Hill’s staff only has partially uploaded stats. In the games they have uploaded stats for, he had runs of 65 yards (Arlington Martin), 66 yards (Southlake Carroll), and 74 yards (Mansfield).
  4. Here is our wide receiver depth chart heading into spring (only listing scholarship guys) Z - SR Damon Ward SR Trey Cleveland Y - SR Blair Conwright X - JR Zhighlil McMillan H - SO Landon Sides SR Jordan Smart Only entering the spring with 6 scholarship receivers, 4 of which are seniors. Team is definitely in need of some youth infusion to the receiver room.
  5. Seems like an outside receiver. We had 4 receivers committed before Spradley-Demps decommitted. Not sure if they considered him an outside guy or not but possibly since both Barnes and Coleman are slot guys.
  6. “the opportunity to continue my academic and football career”. This isn’t an offer
  7. I’m gonna sleep on SMU when it comes to who we might lose Chandler Rogers to. Their QB is only a sophomore.
  8. Bloesch had the co-OC title heading into that season with Mainord but Littrell was calling the plays. Neither Wallis nor Bloesch were ever tasked with calling the offense that season.
  9. Yeah I’m not as concerned about preserving redshirts either. Especially if it’s a guy you expect to be starter caliber in year 2.
  10. Coach Burton really has been as impressive as we could have asked for thus far. Excited to see this continue to play out.
  11. I think the only true freshman who has played 4 games exactly is Brian Nelson. So maybe he would be.
  12. Brian Nelson also is tied for second on the team in passes broken up despite having only played in 4 games. Really excited about the future of this secondary with Nelson, Patrick Smith, Jayven Anderson, Evan Jackson, and even Taylor Starling started that ACU game but looks like he’ll still redshirt.
  13. We start talking about the men’s basketball team about 30 minutes in https://sites.libsyn.com/482808/mean-green-gridiron-episode-4
  14. Talking the rest of the season and upcoming Men’s hoops tournament https://sites.libsyn.com/482808/mean-green-gridiron-episode-4
  15. I know the defense has been rightfully under the microscope with how bad they performed to start the season, but a promising element of this defense has been the interceptions. From 2019 to now we have struggled defensively. A big part of that struggle has derived from inability to force turnovers and relying on forcing punts. Here are our INTs by season: • 2019 - 4 INTs • 2020 - 7 INTs (4 against UTEP’s backup QB) • 2021 - 6 INTs • 2022 - 8 INTs • 2023 - 7 INTs Already as many INTs halfway into this season as we’ve had any of the previous 4 seasons outside of last year when we played 14 games. This is a promising sign that the defense can do what it’s supposed to do, which is clog the passing lanes and occupy areas that the QBs are used to being able to throw into, forcing INTs. Tackling needs to keep improving but ultimately I think the run game weakness had more to do with players/execution than it did scheme.
  16. I think we’re going to get up early on them, they’re going to come back and the vibes are going to be hell on here because people are too busy being mad to see the progress. Then we’re going to come out and beat Memphis.
  17. Terrance Dixon was never announced as a signing on Meangreensports. Usually with scholarship guys there is an article on the site that officially announces the addition, whereas they don’t do that for walkons. So I think there is one spot left, but they are likely saving it for next year with only one actual Senior on the roster.
  18. Here for those of you itching for your 10th Mean Green football podcast of the week. https://traffic.libsyn.com/81810f99-7300-4fd0-b083-8bcf8c3ffdfa/Mean_Green_Gridiron_3.mp3
  19. I read the beginning of this post with an Irish accent
  20. It really doesn’t when you look at the revenue at play here. But I like how you don’t skip a beat to change the topic and ignore being blatantly wrong about your claim that NIL was created so student athletes could have the ability to have a job like a normal student.
  21. Lol come on. Student athletes could always have jobs. It was not “supposed to” do anything other than lift the unconstitutional restrictions the NCAA had placed on its student athletes regarding their ability to earn money from the multi billion dollar industry that was exploiting their labor. And that the NCAA should be subject to Sherman Act scrutiny. https://harvardlawreview.org/print/vol-135/ncaa-v-alston/
  22. A+. A little concern on Saturday that the second half would be a snooze fest but it was a good, competitive back and forth with true freshman Evan Jackson making a big play late. Also have 4 🧩 commits who have yet to announce. Potential there for some real game changers.
