  1. Speaking of theories...... Did UNT accept a local bowl thinking supporter dissatisfaction with Seth would limit support for travel to a bowl game?
  2. Memphis, UAB, and Temple are HOME conference games that should be competitive. Of the road conference games, Tulsa and Navy are our best chances for ROAD conference wins. Don't forget we get Cal (4-8 this year) at home. That plus Abilene Christian and LaTech (in Rustin) are win opportunities. Then there is the unknown fourth non-con game that hasn't been scheduled yet. UTSA at home plus SMU and Tulane on the road would be toughest. IF we don't lose good players AND we get inspirational leadership from the HC position, 8-4 or 7-5 next year is possible.
  3. But ..... we need somebody to coach those players up. We don't have that at the HC position now.
  4. ESPN has us listed first, which implies we will be visiting team. At least we don't need to worry about the sun.
  5. If I go, that means getting home to Tyler area around 2:00 am.
  6. Rock n Roll Marathon in San Antonio has taken all downtown hotel space. Have seen no info what that does to parking options.
  7. Highly unlikely that Nebraska will be eligible this year.
  8. Like them or not, the Cowboys own Thanksgiving Day in this market and would pose a huge conflict - especially in University Park.
  9. Assuming we beat FIU and Rice, we advance to championship even with loss to UAB sine we will have beaten all other two-loss teams. Not much chance of UTSA losing two and us hosting the championship. Plan on NT at UTSA on December 3.
  10. Not that we deserve to be ranked right now, but all five teams are west of the Mississippi. There is some natural eastern bias in those polls because that is home to most of the voters.
  11. 1. From my seats I can see much of the hill where tailgating takes place. I did NOT see students hanging out there during the game as I usually do. 2. Low 90's on October 15 is NOT normal, but students should be able to handle that. I assumed that many took advantage of a weekend without TX-OU to go to the fair. 3. On field promos, contests, and recognitions are overdone and boring. 4. My wife usually makes one game a year. My sister joins me at Homecoming, and various female friends sometimes join me at other games. A "kiss cam" might be fun, but please don's aim it at me! 5. We moved to Tyler in early 2020, but I still come to the games. If I can do that .... 6. FAU drew more because it was family weekend. 7. Many Club ticket holders stayed inside to watch the OSU-TCU game.
  12. No East or West Divisions this year due to three teams that left. Top two conference records play in the championship.
  13. No longer taking possible bowl game into account for holiday plans.
  14. If that semi-pro team from University Park wants to wear Dallas uniforms, then we should call them the Dallas Ponies. Alas last night was a night that Eagles would be more appropriate for us than Mean Green.
  15. Several pages toward the back have headers for 2021 but contain 2022 data.
  16. The creation of the Power 5 was a step in the wrong direction and the NIL explosion not helping. This idea of a NCFL would be even worse.
  17. I agree that WKU is a tough read right now. We'll know more by the time that game is played two months from today. Let's hope it merits better TV than Stadium as currently scheduled.
  18. The win in El Paso was encouraging enough to hold my expectations for a winning season. Concerns include continuing injuries (especially among receivers) and dumb penalties. Depth will remain an issue against teams in the AAC such as SMU and Memphis. On the plus side, Littrell has delegated all game coaching to his coordinators. We had good consistency on offense with greater reliance on the tight end and plenty of fresh legs at running back. The defense forced UTEP into six fourth down situations and held on four of those. The second half shutout was especially encouraging. In addition to UTEP, we should win against Texas Southern, LaTech, FIU, Rice, and UNLV, with all except UNLV at home. Most would expect road losses against WKU, UAB, UTSA, and Memphis. So that's six and four plus a bowl game. A win at home against SMU and/or FAU gets us to 7-5 or 8-4 plus a bowl game. I predicted 7-6 and hope we beat that.
  19. I'd rather we NOT copy anything SMU does except win.
  20. Highland Park JV or that Dallas semi-pro team?
  21. I never went home for Labor Day, but back then classes didn't start until after Labor Day.
