  1. Oops or DATCU? Interestingly, the postcard announcing the August 12 event had DATCU on it, but same image on-line today is missing that.
  2. This supports a 4-4 conference record for UNT since we don't play FAU or ECU this year.
  3. Then Army-Navy game would be a conference game, but they don't play until after conference championships.
  4. Possibly because they cannot display new stadium name until August 1.
  5. Others in CBS ranking: Tulna (9), UTSA (24, a top 25 in other polls as well), SMU (58), Memphis (69), UAB (74), Cal (86), Tulsa (92), Navy (103), LaTech (118), Temple (119), and FIU (125). So that's four opponents ranked ahead of UNT. A Nystrom poll also has just four opponents (Tulane, Memphis, SMU, and Cal) ahead of us.
  6. We should not let the fear of recruiting keep us from scheduling opponents.
  7. A win against Cal gives us a shot at 4-0 in non-conference games, otherwise expect 3-1. A 4-4 conference record is doable with key being win at Navy. Predict other wins against Temple, UAB, and Tulsa. These are based on the various rankings that are out so far. The 2024 season looks even better as we drop Tulane and Memphis from schedule, and pick up ECU, Rice, South Florida, and Charlotte.
  8. I can see 7-5 with 4-4 conference and 3-1 non-conference. Conference wins against Navy (a challenge on road) and at home against Temple, UAB, and Tulsa. Cal is obviously biggest non-con challenge, but we should beat LaTech, FIU, and Abilene Christian. The 2024 conference schedule gets easier with Tulane and Memphis dropping off. We pick up Rice, South Florida, and Charlotte.
  9. If they wear Dallas uniforms, let's call them the Dallas Ponies.
  10. I picked Memphis, but Tulsa would be a close second. When we lost 5 games (plus 1 tie) over three years 66-67-68, three of the losses were to Memphis. I know that predates a lot of fans here, but SMU is trying to leave AAC and even UTSA's coach is not optimistic about their long-term success. as they are seriously financially stretched.
  11. He was named chairman of NIT while still at NT.
  12. Every D-1 conference gets at least one invite to the NCAA. Three conferences combine for 23 invites. That doesn't leave much for mid major conferences. The results so far this year, not counting Charlotte winning the CBI, suggest that some of those invites in the top conferences can be pulled back and given to mid majors. All Conference USA participants will be in the American Athletic next year. Hopefully, the AAC will get more than two invites next year.
  13. They lost to Kentucky by 35 on 12-22-21 and by 39 to Washington on 11-25-16. Today just might have been their largest conference-game deficit in at least ten years.
  14. WKU scored 39 against MTSU on 2-26-2011. Until today, I think that is the only time they were under 40 since shot clock was implemented.
  15. Most officials would not them get away with that style of play.
  16. Would the Big 12 really want Utah if they already pulled in BYU?
  17. Those guys who played against Missouri Valley teams back in the 60's didn't see the orange seats. They saw capacity crowds and no empty bleachers at the Snake Pit.
  18. Excluding the AAC teams that are moving to Big 12, here are current NET ratings for top C-USA and AAC teams. 15 - FAU 38 - UNT 59 - Memphis 71 - UAB 87 - Charlotte 111 - Tulane 130 - MTSU 136 - Wichita State This suggests that C-USA teams will be very competitive with remaining AAC teams. Houston (NET - 1), UCF (36) and Cincinnati (100) should have fun in the Big12.
  19. We get SMU every year, starting 2023 at University Park. 2023 home: UTSA, Memphis, UAB, Temple, plus non-conf Cal and Abilene Christian 2023 road: Tulsa, SMU, Tulane, Navy, plus non-conf LaTech 2024 home: SMU, Rice, South Florida, Charlotte, plus non-conf SFA 2024 road: UTSA, UAB, FAU, East Carolina, plus non-con South Alabama and Texas Tech
  20. Mine is also missing, I turned in 7-6 on August 23. I missed the WKU win and UNLV loss, with the WKU win part of the reason we played in the C-USA championship.
  21. Need to add Drew Svoboda as associate head coach and special teams coordinator - Texas roots coming from staff at Alabama.
  22. I think Cal is winnable. They went 4-8 and Eric Morris beat them 28-9. We played well at Memphis this season and lost due to turnovers. Catching UTSA at home will help.
  23. We can't get the frat groups in the stadium now, and you want to offer utilities?
