  1. and I thoroughly enjoyed this. Definitely the highlight of my game day experience. 1962 called and wanted its game back. Clear out the lane and just the guys go one on one like the NBA. Streetball would be better than this
  2. another interesting article: http://www.sbnation.com/2012/12/11/3755044/2013-big-east-football-schedule SMU's trip down 45 really cuts their travel, that plus Memphis. looking forward to comparing our mileage and making some roadtrips in '13
  3. http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/8736148/big-east-unveils-first-2-division-football-schedule how ya like that home schedule kitty cat?? it's no better than any in the recent past. what a way to open the new stadium! outside of Boise, SMU's is pretty bad too. We're going to have a much more attractive home schedule me-thinks. At least the "bad" teams coming to Apogee won't be thousands of miles away
  4. THIS RV, if you read GMG, please schedule New Mexico State, UNLV and Tulane ASAP. btw, I think we do get Tulane next year in CUSA before they bolt Big East
  5. a fun read for anyone so inclined: http://usatoday30.usatoday.com/sports/college/football/coaches-poll12 also, ESPN's cfb bloggers have all written little blurbs about how their respective league coaches voted. Interesting stuff. Pay special attention to "big game" Bob @ OU
  6. pretty much agreeing with my sentiment earlier, Ivan Maisel puts it well: didn't know how to play the game. sounds like a sentiment i hear tossed around here
  7. the AD should probably be given his pink slip, however I can see his line of thinking that Liberty Bowl vs a 10-win Tulsa would be a whole lot nicer than playing in Shreveport for the 3rd time this season against LA-Mo. I mean, c'mon, it's Louisiana - they already HAVE to live there, they know it sucks. I for one sure didn't see Northern Illinois jumping all the way to top-16 in the BCS after being #21 last week. I imagine the soon-to-be released AD didn't think it would happen either. feel bad for the players...
  8. still no updates? i don't think this is gonna be done by December
  9. but I didn't see it on the forums already: Opened up my Sports Illustrated today to find Tony Mitchell on a page to himself in the College BBall preview issue. They had a three page set of individuals who are studs at small schools...the young man from Illinois State, fella from South Dakota State and Mr Mitchell
  10. anyone making the trip? I see Tech is hosting Kansas in football earlier that day. I wonder if that will have an impact in Tech's favor. ie fans sticking around and packing in the soccer stadium
  11. student showing was well below troy. not even close. if the students attendance had equaled troy, we wouldve had 20k. I'm surprised at this week's number. This is the first time this year that I think the number was actual bodies in the stands. my rainman-like eye guesstimated 18k... nt91, i think 12500 is ambitious. that might be the "reported" #. My guess is 7000
  12. unlike anakin, we control our own destiny. when we win out, there's a chance that we "share" the title, but we'll hold the head-to-head... so we can claim #1
  13. I say Mean Green, 52 to 14. I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I gotta give Da MUTS credit - I think they'll give Da McCarney's a game!
  14. ^ I concur with that feeling. I bet we're at about 1/6 of the stadium right now (approximately 5k). I might be a tad high, though. I feel like I read somewhere that last year was around 4,500. Can't find a link now that I'm looking to back those numbers up
  15. Someone with more knowledge correct me if I'm wrong: SMU's numbers are gonna be off all year long because they had 5,000+ DFW Aggies buy season tickets in order to attend 1 game. I think they're allowed to count season tickets, even if they don't show up. At North Texas, we don't have very many season ticket holders, and of the ones we do have 75%+ show up to every game, so we're very rarely getting to count empty seats like those folks at SMU, etc
  16. From looking at the numbers, it seems like fewer than 600,000 tuned in. I can't believe 35+million would rather tune in to the presidential debate... as an opposite end of the spectrum comparison, "LSU's 23-21 victory over South Carolina was the week’s most-viewed college football game across any network. The SEC matchup averaged a 3.7 US rating, 5,978,000 viewers and 4,227,000 households. It is ESPN’s most-viewed and highest-rated regular-season college football game of the season thus far."
  17. Give us names. Who are these people? Be specific. Otherwise, I call you troll and suggest that we stop feeding the troll.

  19. Along with inviting Notre Dame, the ACC also says it has increased its exit fees for the conference's schools to three times the annual operation budget -- which would currently come to more than $50 million. Does anyone think they'll be adding a 16th (most likely non-football)? and if so, who? as it stands, my bet is that they go to three 5 team divisions
