Not bad coming off of a one win season. Now where are "those" people on this board that back in the spring said there wouldn't be 13k there...somebody dig those quotes up.

24k weather looks good students only here for 5 days of classes, so they likely won't go home. First game, so the curiosity factor of fans will bring them in first home game is always a large crowd SMU is a name opponent that will draw in the fans. If this game was against BC instead of SMU, I still think there would be 21k plus. And last....look at our attendance at other home openers. Yes, we do have lots of questions about the team, and some die hard fans are frustrated, but the students tend to show up regardless

Texas still has Mack Brown interviews and his resignation video up on their site if you google it. It's not uncommon to archive the content and still have it searchable.

I think the timing has to do with the end of the year. If you donate to the Mean Green Club now, you can use it as a deduction for your 2015 taxes, but get the benefits for the 2016 season. This is the time of year people are looking for last minute deductions if they came up short.

Completely Agree! He's been running this board (and earlier variations) for over 15 years, maintenance, server costs. Good years and bad years. When the board crashes at 3am, the fans freak out a bit, but go back to bed. Meanwhile Harry is up working with the hosting company trying to figure things out. Always in a tough position because fans are claiming you are too soft on the Athletic Department, while catching grief from the Athletic Department for running a forum that negatively effects the program. Its a no win situation, but yet in some of the previous years they pull someone that has done very little for the "Spirit" of the program. How many people on this board have gotten more passionate, connected to the program more, and met others that feel the same because of gomeangreen.com?

We discussed a lot of these points on the podcast. We are in a great position. The students that NT is pulling in can be lifelong fans and support the program. They are going for a good education and a good college experience. I graduated in '97 and there was no tailgating allowed. Nothing that said "hey, come back after graduation and hang out with friends and family and enjoy the game day atmosphere. There wasn't even any decent choices for spirit wear. That changed quite a bit in the last 15 years. Huge change. Higher enrollment and student attendance growing yearly, (even with bad football years), means more and more students every year that will follow and come back after graduating. Other schools are becoming victims of their own academic success and high standards. Schools like Rice, SMU, etc are pulling in very highly academically focused students. They have a lot of international students that don't embrace the college football atmosphere and the low overall numbers of students at those schools don't balance the student body with a huge fan base. High academically achieving students are great, but those aren't typically the students that are into the college atmosphere, tailgating, football, etc. The fan bases at those schools that do remember the average student college life (think old SWC) are aging, hence the old money and smaller group steering the ship at SMU. Texas has become extremely hard to get into, but they have had years of large classes and alums that were involved and they have plenty of other "T-shirt fans".

We'll be taking the rail, so this might work out great!

Every generation of fan remembers at least one monsoon at fouts We were a bit heavy this week after the loss to UTEP and Corky was a bit before our time...we do have a large amount of Corky related items in Harry's office. We will talk a bit about him next episode. Thanks for listening. Gmg
