  1. Actual attendance was somewhere in the teens. Definitely lowest of the season. The Bama - LSU game got a 70 SHARE in the Birmingham market. That is just insane in modern tv ratings. We've moved our game times around all season to avoid them, with good success, but beIN set the start time this week. There was a time when a game in a similar situation would have drawn 7500. Progress? If we don't have 25,000+ on Senior Day, against Southern Miss, with the ability to wrap up the West it'll be an enormous disappointment.
  2. I can certainly see North Texas in Independence against an ACC team. Your last two home crowds have been very impressive. The best chance of that happening is probably to have UTSA beat LA Tech and keep the Dogs home this bowl season.
  3. Congrats on the win! Your guys made the plays when you needed it. Go beat the Mustard Buzzards.
  4. We've not been able to establish any consistent passing game. Your defense should key in on the run and force our receivers to show up. Our special teams have been less-than-special at critical moments. Bill Clark will make us respectable but I'm not expecting miracles in our 1st season back.
  5. The 46,000 sq ft building a big deal. We currently have one relatively small weight room on campus, an ancient high school building that was converted. Coaches' offices, meeting rooms, etc are in a building that was likely a dentist office in its previous life. We have zero indoor space if football needs somewhere to practice during rain, storms, cold. The current practice fields are pathetic and can't handle even the tiniest amount of rain. We used to rent a turf field from D3 Birmingham-Southern during wet weather, but our last 2 coaches have insisted on busing to Legion Field as it is just too embarrassing to practice on campus of a D3 University. Legacy Credit Union donated over $4 million dollars for the pavilion, and 8 of the 10 largest private companies in Birmingham have given for operations building.
  6. Those two 4:30 kicks are likely beIN Sports. Was just released today all ten C-USA games on beIN this year will kick at 4:30PM after international soccer ends.
  7. ODU with a new stadium is much more attractive to ACK than MTSU. Great recruiting area and good fan support.
  8. Clark did several interviews today. We found out a little bit of information. First, the total amount pledged reached nearly $23 million I believe. In the preliminary phase of sending out pledge forms and just starting to collect money now. 20+ of Birmingham's top business leaders are forming a team to raise money for a football operations building, then they will work on indoor facility, and eventually a stadium. Players who sign with UAB in 2015-2016 can petition the NCAA to have those years not count toward their total. 2017 expect to have a regular FBS schedule (8 C-USA games, 2 G5 OOC, 1 P5 "money game", 1 FCS) Currently have 19 scholarships to give for 2015. Could petition for a few more in order to be at 75 or more in fall of 2017. Eligible to practice immediately but don't have enough guys yet. Weight training this fall with organized practices next spring. Would like to play some exhibitions in 2016 but it's up to the NCAA. At least 1 player has already transferred back. They will not lose eligibility and the school they leave will be given the scholarship back to use again.
  9. I can not believe Watts is a President at a major university. He proves that the Board of Trustees is incompetent. Stadium will not happen unless the City builds one but new coaches' offices, training spaces, and practice facilities are part of the money Watts is demanding for football's return.
  10. Vastly superior to ASUN, I suppose.
  11. Even the 28,000 crowds look small at Legion Field. 4 of those crowds would have looked and sounded great in most C-USA stadiums. I have no answer for the LA Tech game. Just no one showed up.
  12. I'm not hopeful that football can return with Watts as President and Bryant Jr in control of the Board. I expect after the school's new firm issues its report, UAB will demand an unobtainable amount of money from boosters if football is to return.
  13. Most of the study was funded by the University itself since they originally commissioned it. They only fired OSKR after it became clear they wouldn't like the results. NCAA accounting charges the athletic department for full cost of tuition, books, room & board... even though the true costs to the University are less than 45% what students are charged. The NCAA also counts students fees given to athletics as a loss, even though the money doesn't come directly from the school's bottom line. OSKR simply believes the current NCAA accounting method is flawed when trying to determine a program's true value to a University.
  14. I can't see anything other than a one year reprieve because of timing and then gone. The administration has already leaked that their is mutual interest with the MVC. Haase's pay was just nearly doubled. Watts is moving full steam ahead to ensure football doesn't come back.
  15. Dangerous road trip for my Blazers. Worked their way into tie for the conference lead and play in Denton then on to Rice. Getting full of themselves or over-looking either team would be very bad.
  16. meh. UAB was favored by about 20 over FIU. UAB lost WKU was favored by 2 TDs over UAB. UAB won
  17. Rice had 5 starters injured on defense.
  18. Stations in markets without a Sinclair affiliate can also pay to pick up the syndicated broadcast. The conference is working with local tv stations in C-USA markets to make sure games get picked up.
  19. Could the conference itself book a cruise in advance and then give it to which ever team qualifies? I liked the Miami Bowl but there was no "guarantee" there. The American had a clause to kick us out if a P5 team was available.
  20. Saturday or Sunday would be best for attendance but I'm sure ESPN will have significant input on the new date.
  21. I've accepted the fact that UAB will be moving west. It sucks that we won't be in the same division with all of the teams we lobbied for, though. We have more history with Southern Miss than any of the new additions, so it isn't all bad.
  22. They will not go undefeated. I see them losing to at least one of the MAC schools and probably one in conference play.
  23. My Blazers just haven't looked as good in the last 5 or 6 games. If UAB comes out flat your guys will give them all they can handle and more. I'm looking forward to the game!
