We have two NIL collectives (one grassroots and the other providing $40k/player). Between the two we have a top 15 NIL nationally. That's where the $$$ is coming from.

Same tired and senseless logic was applied to the Big 12 when it lost Texas and OU to the SEC. We simply don't know what the value of these media deals is going to be in 7-10 years. -

Those schools are also going to have to compensate the ACC to the tune of around $1b if they have any intentions of breaking the Grant of Rights. Contracts have consequences. That's why despite all their whining last year guess what? FSU and Clemson are still members of the ACC. The absolute earliest that any school is leaving is 2030. Who knows what happens between now and then? -

Now that we have a schedule that isn't among the worst in college football? yep. -

Big 12 didn't "want" SMU b/c we represent an existential threat to schools like TCU, Houston, Baylor, Tech, and OK State. What recruit in their right mind would choose to live in those truck stop wastelands if they can go play in Dallas at the Power 4 level? -

The roster TODAY has more talent than half of the ACC. How do you think being able to recruit and use NIL with the ACC patch is going to go? -

I think Morris will do very well at North Texas. His offense is prolific and it takes time to get the personnel to run that defensive scheme. Best of luck in The American. Should be a fun league to watch from afar.- 63 replies

https://smumustangs.com/news/2023/9/18/general-smu-raises-unprecedented-100m-in-seven-days.aspx We're not worried about the money. -
You charge what the market will pay. Applications are up 3x in the past five years and average ACT/SAT are the best of any school in the state exclusive of Rice. So the supply for a very limited number of new students is being more than met by demand. Simple economics.

Nothing remotely shameful about it. Everyone in the SWC was doing what SMU did in the 80's but without the protection of being a true blue blood we were crucified. Now with NIL and the commitment of hundreds of millions from billionaire boosters there is no reason we can't regain status as a consistent Top 20 program.

With a 2 billion endowment. What's UNT's again?
