It was a great win! Our football team looks bad but the women’s sports are looking good. Basketball too.

He was the 2018 New Mexico bowl MVP and this is posted under that original thread….
I thought you were posting they just scored on us again. I was thinking that was seriously uncalled for.

This one is easy. John Baker from Blinn Jr College. All American at UNT and went on to the Rams and played in a Superbowl. He wins

I just saw this. Absolutely hilarious. I would bet a North Texas football fan started that rumor. But it was 100% not Leach.

Thank you sir may I have another!
Is that what he should say? He was let go. He doesn’t need to give a statement. He certainly doesn’t owe the fans a damn thing. I’m sure if they let him speak to the team he would. If not, that’s on the university and he doesn’t need to talk to anyone else but possibly his coaches. Which they are 100 percent talking.

They were getting 6 wins next year regardless. I know it. You know it. This board knows. The players deep down know it. Seth Littrell knows it. And, clearly, the UNT administration knows it.
Were or weren’t?

I could be wrong here, but it seems to me that most coaches who are going to be let go are shown the door before the bowl game, not after. What’s the benefit of having him coach the bowl game?
Most coaches going to bowls aren’t fired. 2 weeks wouldn’t have mattered and the new AD could hire whoever. It was poorly handled imo.

My fear is we will be missing 6 win seasons in the very near future once we hit the AAC. It’s absolutely ridiculous they fired him before the bowl game. North Texas makes really bad choices in sports more than they should. Minus soccer. For me it’s sad they did this the day they announced the bowl. It takes away from the players accomplishments.

Fire a coach that played in the conference championship game and generally always makes a bowl? Not happening. I think we need to remember just a few years ago getting stomped all the time.

I wouldn’t miss it for the world. I missed the game in Frisco last year to surgery. I’m taking my kids and will have a house full in town for the game. I live walking distance to the stadium. Gonna have a blast.

Same with YouTube tv.
It’s on YouTube TV? I have that but it’s misleading at times.

3-3 wouldn’t be bad. I mean, that is halfway to a bowl. What I don’t think is good is 103 points allowed in the last two games. The offense can’t outscore that.

We’ll lose to Memphis, La Tech, WKU and everyone else but FIU. We won’t even beat Rice at home we’re so bad.
I think we get one more win. The Defense is the worst in D1 from what I have seen.

You can’t give 60 points up to anyone. Terrible

If you claim P6 you immediately have no credibility. They clearly taught spelling too. UTSA talking about being elite is about as laughable as UTSA claiming they aren’t fat at their commuter school. Anyway, we are 5-4 against them. So, not a great flex for them either.

Respectfully, "we ended their undefeated season" despite never sniffing one ourselves and getting blown out by 40 at home two days ago isn't quite the flex you think it is. It's a new season. UTSA's football future looks more promising than ours right now. Sigh...
I assure you they are still pissed. That loss in 2013 made me hate them.
We are about to be 2-1. I don’t think it’s time to hit the panic button yet.

Actually, after reading several of the posts there, I'm surprised they aren't more optimistic. We historically have trouble playing on a big stage, on the road, and in El Paso. It was amazing we were able to scrape by against them at home last year. Yet several Miners over there are predicting a UNT win.
They are predicting it because UTEP loses a lot. It’s not big stage. We go up the Sun Bowl will be empty fast. I had season tickets there growing up. The fans will abandon them quickly. If we jump out on top early there will be a sigh and collective eye roll of here we go again. And back to the tailgate or bar. They will be rowdy if we give them a reason to cheer but they are use to bad football.

Anyone on here planning to travel to El Paso this Saturday? Not sure if there is a thread over this yet, but I’ll be there with 3 others. Flying in early Saturday morning and planning to tailgate with some UTEP folks before.
Never been to the Sun Bowl before, I’m excited.
Hope we can see some Mean Green representation in El Paso!!!

The Sun Bowl is cool the way it is in between the hills but the inside needs remodeling. Bathrooms are gross. Make sure you get some Mexican food.

Love that place but my go to is Riviera on the Westside. When I lived there we were there several times a week. Great bar too. Mesilla is super cool but it’s a bit far but worth it. Cattlemen’s in Fabens too. So fun.
We better win. Last time I flew out we lost and it sucked.

I workout at Cowboys Fit. I hope he isn’t there. He annoys me while I lift.

If turf is good enough for the Cowboys and a lot of the NFL, it’s just fine imo. It’s not like it’s the 90s turf at Fouts that was similar to concrete.

The post you responded to is an example of someone who doesn’t know a thing about sports. Specifically club soccer. Texas has amazing girls soccer. Should they look to lesser recognized areas? Volleyball is ridiculously respected nationwide too in DFW alone. Same as football. That opinion is one of a person who has ridiculous sports IQ and exposure to sports. Or specifically narrow minded…
