  1. His physical and mental toughness may be how he earned the man of steel nickname in Oklahoma. Littrell and Harrell are not afraid to let Fine go long and stretch out the field. As he and his receivers all get on the same page, this thing could be really fun to watch for the next 4 years.
  2. Current state of things: At long last, the light at the end of the tunnel might actually be the end of the tunnel. Brighter days!
  3. Have you ever seen a freshman QB as mentally tough as Mason Fine? He keeps his head in the game even when things are going south in a big way. Totally impressed.
  4. Moving Kenny Buyers to WR looks like a stroke of genius. 4 catches 102 yards, Props to Littrell and Harrell on making the move.
  5. I totally agree. Technically "Sonny" was his nickname. ( Alex L. Sixkiller) Who was the first president of what is now the NFL? Jim Thorpe
  6. The week before against Kentucky, Del Rio threw for 320 yards and 4 TDs. In the 4th quarter, Del Rio threw a 28 yd TD to put Florida up 45-0. Was that running up the score? If so, that's what they were trying to do to us.
  7. Risking your starting QB by throwing long in a game that is clearly decided with 1 minute to go in the 3rd quarter??? They were trying to run up the score for the sake of a higher ranking. It came back to bit them.
  8. +1 I kind of like the "Man of Steel" moniker. Florida blasts Fine over and over again, but it's their QB who gets hurt while they try to run up the score. Ironic.
  9. UTSA head coach Frank Wilson was Rivals 2011 Recruiter of the year and the NFL named him recruiter of the year in 2014. LSU had back to back top 5 classes in 2014 and 2015. Wilson was their recruiting coordinator from 2010 until UTSA hired him. It will be interesting to watch future recruiting battles with UNT and other CUSA teams.
  10. Raymond Berry had one leg shorter than the other and no speed. He played JUCO ball prior to smu. He was 6' 2" and hung onto everything he touched. In 13 years with the Colts he fumbled once. He and Jonny Unitas could read each others minds. When the Cowboys hired him as a couch, he ran some sideline routes to show how it was done. After he kept touching his toes a few inches out of bounds, he told them the field was wrong. They laughed. The next day he brought a tape measure. When they measured the field, they found it was almost a yard too narrow.
  11. Dec, 3, 2011. We sat in the rain. Derick Thompson 2 of 7 passing for 23 yards, but he handed off 67 times for 465 yards. UNT 59 and MT 7. Middle Tennessee scored their 7 on the last play of the game. Now that was a dominating performance.
  12. Speaking of former players, Erick Evans had another nice game for Tennessee Stare. The junior had 109 yards rushing, 2 TDs, and caught 1 pass for 16 yards. As a UNT freshman he had 204 yards rushing on 24 carries with 3 TDs. I bet SL could have found a way to get him on the field.
  13. I think Fine would have beaten him out, not so much by raw talent, but by being focused. Mason Fine's priorities seem to be football, football, and football..........and in that order.
  14. BC vs UNT prediction: If we win, fans will giddily start talking about which bowl we are going to and whither or not we can keep Seth Littrell. If we lose, the discussion will be on how much will it cost to get out of his contract, and whither or not he was truly RV's choice?
  15. Withers can coach. 2011 North Carolina 7-6 2014 James Madison 9-4 2015 James Madison 9-3 2016 Texas State 1-0 Head coaching record 26-13
  16. If Mason Fine grew to 6' 11", he could undoubtedly start at center for the basketball team and letter in two sports.
  17. Danny DeVito is listed at 4' 10" but he's probably only 4' 7" with shoes on. When he was with Taxi, he could hardly see over his desk. I'm surprised he lasted as many seasons as he did. If he would come down, get measured, and have a photo taken standing by Mason Fine, it might settle the speculation.
  18. NCAA FBS stats: Passing Yards 1. Mike White 517 Western Kentucky Rushing Yards 1. Aaron Jones 249 UTEP
  19. Height only becomes an issue when you can't play.
  20. Trivia answer: What NFL player holds the record for most rushing yards (1212) and most rushing TDs (14) after the age of 40? Doug Flutie https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L3EaLfpZjaw
  21. Trivia question: What NFL player holds the record for rushing yards (1212) and rushing TDs (14) after the age of 40? Hint: he was the last NFL player to score by kicking a drop kick.
  22. ......and with the 18th pick, the Dallas Cowboys take Sonny Gibbs quarterback. At 6' 7" he was the tallest QB in the NFL, and the rest is history. He finished his pro career only 58,179 yards behind Doug Flutie. Flutie was asked if a 5' 9' 175 lb QB could play in the NFL. He answered that it was a matter of ability and not size.
