  1. I reserved my comment on this team until I had ample time to evaluate, now I can tell you exactly why we suck... No one on this team has the "see ball get ball reflex" (Ex. The primary source of the Honeybadgers sucess)! What I mean by that is no one on this team has the instinct to scoop loose balls, hustle for possession, etc... This is the first thing grade school coaches try and develop, even before shooting technique. Hustle plays change games. Our players, for the most part, lack off the ball basketball instincts. This is why we are always late to the spot and end up getting blasted from the land of 3. Cant coach basketball IQ my friends...
  2. Damn, why couldn't I have seen that about 3 weeks ago when I still thought I would be able to wear it to a tourney game that we might actually win... A day late and a dollar short, typical NT lol
  3. I would agree with this if not for his performance last season, have you seen the kind of numbers he put up in his freshman year? He has already proven that he can dominate this league and anyone in it, which leads me to believe there are other reasons for his and the rest of the teams lethargy...
  4. I don't think anyone here is denying that Benford probably knows his basketball, but considering the caliber of players he inherited he must of known to some extent that his job would come under scrutiny with a losing record. If you consider the teams performance last year with a severely short roster, he should of known that having a full deck for this season would also increase the level of expectation. Benford may very well be an excellent head coach, unfortunately for him, he took a position with an implied instant success contingency and I think he knew that...
  5. GTFO I'd take a 7-1 start with a new coach and a super "bare cupboard" all day and tomorrow. Straight up hater lol
  6. This. At this point in their basketball careers they can either shoot or they can't. Not saying there aren't other aspects of their game that could effectively compensate for a weak shot... I'm saying that if your having to re-coach a college sophomore on how to shoot the basketball I doubt shooting will ever develop into a strong suit...
  7. I agree. The good teams find a way to win, regardless...
  8. Im not convinced UAH will score another point...
  9. 1.) Regardless of who bears the cost of production, it's my understanding that the THECB evaluated the viability of our initial proposal and had concerns with the cost justifications contained within. 2.) Please articulate what, in the recent developments regarding the Union initiative, has lead you to believe that the aforementioned funds will "never" reach the university? Because I think they will, as a result of an adjusted/more complete proposal. Some of the institutions many of you are choosing to compare NT with, lead not only the state, but the nation in several significant academic categories. The consideration many people here aspire to have, is imo, the product of demonstrated and sustained excellence in key academic/institutional areas moreso than our political presence in the state. I love shiny new buildings just as much as the next guy, but if you can't develop a quantitatively clear and concise proposal in support of said shiny new building, you shouldn't build the shiny new building until you do. I would like to see a university proposal for funding aimed at our plan to lead the state in specifically communicated academic/sporting segments. Ex.) We feel the new ___ building will contribute substantially towards our goal of the UNT ___ program being ranked in the top 20 nationally over the next ___ years due to an increased capacity for collaborative learning exercises, Faculty resources, etc.. As opposed to "We strive to be the premier university in the state of Texas", Okay, but how? Once we start doing ^, we will have fewer legislative and fund raising related roadblocks...
  10. @g2greatness When I first evaluated this post the first thing that came to mind was there are obviously logistics related factors involved that we as onlookers are unaware of. Having said that, for the first time ever, I actually appreciate your rundown of NT's recent investments. My understanding of the situation is not that the THECB has irrevocably blocked the Union initiative, but more so stated some concern with regard to NT's cost justifications, etc. In other words, "tighten up your proposal and resubmit". Judging by the cost and scope of several of NT's other ongoing investments that have yet to come to fruition, I am not in the least bit surprised that this new major initiative is being scrutinized. @ Everyone making the 'It's because we are UNT and we never get any consideration" type comments. I challenge you to evaluate the monumental increases in university wide growth that have taken place in an exceptionally short period of time and attempt to support those statements. NT is practically rebuilding the 4th largest university in the state, while supporting a new satellite campus, and investing in a future law school at the same time. I for one ,have no problem with THECB requesting a tighter more comprehensive proposal of NT's plan to generate a tangible return moving forward, which I am confident the university will do. Checks and balances people, this is not a coordinated attempt by "longhorn supporters" to stifle the growth of UNT. lol
  11. This. I think that every-time I see Marshall's uni's... The uni's are sharp, I just wish Marshall would stop tryin to swagger jack NT!
  12. Ha Those kids are pretty much geniuses. My senior year one of their classes ran late and I met a student that had acceptance letters from Yale and Columbia...
  13. My thoughts exactly. I was going to state that in a response to his previous post but didn't want to crowd the thread with that novel again lol
  14. Did anyone else see UNT Chancellor Lee Jackson's segment on ESPN Countdown regarding his career as a Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader in the 60's? Is any publicity good publicity?
  15. @stormchaser, Its a good idea, but there is no tradition like winning. The other stuff supplements the core tradition of winning... Its like throwing shiny wheels on a Toyota to compete with Mercedes Benz, its cool, but everyone knows its smoke and mirrors and the Toyota is still a Toyota... Say we dropped the LSU game this season, beat Kstate/Houston, and won out in the belt? DFW loves winners more than it loves teams...
  16. Yep, the foundation is built. Just win. I remember a while back when TCU went undefeated and got snubbed on that BCS bowl, they were on fox with the stadium full of students waiting on the decision as to whether or not they would go... They got snubbed, but I, as a casual fan, started keeping up with their program because of that single Fox special... I remember thinking, wow they fought hard for this recognition and its my duty as a metroplex sports fan to support them, weird I guess, but true... If NT won enough games to put us into contention for something like that, there is zero doubt in my mind that the NT student body would fill up Apogee for a similar Fox special that would earn the respect of the metroplex... Just gotta do something worth respecting... Although its tough to stand out in Dallas, once you start winning big, I doubt you will get more support from any other city in the country... This is title town.
  17. I think what you're trying to say is "continuity" is not present in sports, which is true, but there is most certainly a relationship between athleticism/talent and winning percentage. Suffice it to say, there are no LSU's in the belt...
  18. Clearly you did not watch the game lolz
  19. Man that's great. Except with the new Riddell 360 helmet, no green stripe down the middle, and Nike uni's. UNT green looks super cool on black, the contrast is perfect. Would easily become the most recognizable helmet in CUSA, in a good way. Great for marketing and overall program visibility.
  20. Without listing reasons your wrong I'll just say this... SMU has consistently done less with more. UNT somehow finds a way to do more with less. I'll put my money on people like that all day and tomorrow. UNT is not the first program that had to start at the bottom in order to rise to the top. We are on our way, and we'll get there, brick by brick. You sir, are just an angry little troll with too much time on your hands.
  21. You keep posting that and I keep correcting you! A $400 million dollar endowment is just 1 of 7 thresholds. 4 thresholds must be obtained to acquire tier 1 status. The only required threshold is research expenditures, that paired with any 3 thresholds from the remaining 6 thresholds qualifies a university for tier 1 status.
  22. Gl2Greatness gives new meaning to the term "getting ahead of yourself". He's like Mel Gibson from Conspiracy Theory! Seriously man, relax!
