  1. Mid section Lower Section E in my humble opinion are the best seats in the house. Those who sit in Upper Section E are just a little bit too uppity and snooty for this nestor! (JUST JOKIN', FELLOW SECTION E GREENBACKERS, JUST JOKIN')! ! ! ! ! greenjoe may vouch that there is just something very special about Lower Section E. We just act a bit different than the rest, that's all. Of course, you have to take into consideration that some of us lived off NT's Fry Street in the early to mid 1970's so that might give some of you a big hint. GMG!
  2. The dark green is nice and most of my NT stuff is still in hunter green, but the darker green is not TV-camera friendly as it all but comes off as a non-green. Of course, there was a time when it wouldn't have mattered what green we wore at all, but our Mean Green football team has become very TV-friendly themselves the last few years with all their ESPN television appearances. Wonder where one could find golf shirts that would have a combo of both kelly and hunter green? That might be the ticket for the time being. GMG!
  3. Of course, the new revised GMG.com message board's darker shade of green is the color that NT has switched to (not the ligher shade displayed). But until most Metroplex and Texas vendors catch on that NT is back to using kelly green (which might be a year or more), some of us may not want to wait for that group to get with the program. So with that in mind.......what outlets are any of you finding sports gear, t-shirts, shoes, etc, in NORTH TEXAS kelly green? At this time, most likely kelly green gear without any NT logos or initials on it, although some of us may do our own thing for now (still following Collegiate Sports licensing guidelines, of course). Wanna' share that info with the rest of us if you have seen kelly green stuff in whatever retail centers or stores? Thanks in advance...
  4. If the casual/borderline NT fans were to somehow stumble onto this thread's subject, how could they not be wanting to jump onto the Mean Green Bandwagon this Fall? GMG!
  5. SUMG, I think it means that poster is posting a post when their name is italicized.
  6. We're ALWAYS loud in Lower Section E! But per the request of our 2 outstanding Mean Green RB's from Letterman Greg Matthew's interview--WE'LL BE EXTRA LOUDER IN 2005! GMG!
  7. All's well that ends well, Bill! God, I think I may now be having anxiety attacks over all this. Anyone have some extra Wellbutrin?!?!? GMG!
  8. Yeah, I'm sure with Rice's $1 billion plus endowment they were really sweating bullets over on Houston's South Main.
  9. I don't see NT blowing most anyone in the SBC out of the tub this Fall--we didn't last year for the most part.
  10. And that is the answer I was hoping for from you. Troy U will be tough for MT to beat in Alabama.
  11. But to our Native American friend, Troy U has to come to our house in a ESPN game that (last I heard) will probably have ex NT Coach Hayden Fry back with many who played for him in a reunion which will only be part of a most festive evening. Key words with this game vs Troy U is: Our House Does Troy U host MT this Fall?
  12. Didn't Harry have a Rivals board a few years ago before they went though so many changes?
  13. ESPN+ will carry that game (and in DFW, isn't that Ch 52 that carries that part of the ESPN empire)?
  14. Most of the Coach Howie-types out there have the egos of some doctors. Some call it the, uh, "God" syndrome. I'd bet Schnellenberger sees NORTH TEXAS as no competition whatsoever as to what he has planned at FAU; and FWIW, we haven't been competition to him as of yet. I feel we will be this Fall, though.
  15. If we lose to Tulsa U at Fouts Field, fellas', get ready for a long season. (But its not going to happen--and someone from CUSA is on the wacky stuff even thinking it).
  16. This year we need to be no worse than 1 & 1 heading to that new Omni-Grassed Fouts Field in our home season opener against Tulsa U. Like some of you, I (bite my tongue) even feel we could lose in the Boro' but still have a chance to win the SBC, but don't won't to see us have to go down that road at all. (Still don't see us losing it, though).
  17. NT80, I've heard that thats the way some Big Donors have surfaced in other camps, too. I am more than content that we have more NT officials looking for that BD than anytime probably in the history of our school. And I defer to Coach Darrell Dickey's quote (and I liberally paraphrase): "NORTH TEXAS has always accomplished anything it has set out to do." GMG! PS: As far as FAU is concerned, is it practical to construct a domed stadium in hurricane alley?
  18. Of course, I don't keep up with Texas or Ohio St. as to know that we were up against them. Exactly what time does their game kick-off compared to ours? I know ours is at 6:00 PM. Yet if much of our Metroplex NT constituency will tune in (and not genuflect to the flagship UT) we will still get some good Nielsen numbers IMO. We (myself included) need to quit worrying about what other schools do and just do our thing (iin a big way) and merely take care of our business. One day many NT'ers will wake up one morning and say: "Wow, we really do have a large constituency out there now don't we?"
  19. Coach Dickey obviously not real thrilled with the SBC schedule dealt him, either. Any of us in his shoes would feel the same. I think NORTH TEXAS will have the best team in the SBC be mid-October, but playing our first SBC game on the road 2'nd game of the season is a schedule I can't think NT was responsible. MT has been given every chance to take the baton out of our hands even having had 2 games in a row scheduled in the 'Boro a few years ago. The SBC schedulers have done their part in trying to help the Blue Raiders prove that its not just about winning beauty contest as in off season recruiting contests? NORTH TEXAS has a challenge in the 'Boro on Sept. 10'th, but I think we have the offense who can take control of this game from beginning to end and the Mean Green "D" to hold off the 'Radas. What a great TV game NT/MT will be, though. I will be interested to see the North Texas Metroplex Nielsen TV ratings because I think this game will more than win its time slot. BTW we've done that before when the Mean Green was on an ABC-TV game years ago and that NORTH TEXAS television ratings win was even reported on by Cathy Harasta of the Dallas Morning News back in the day. SUMG sent me a DMN newspaper clipping on that Mean Green TV rating's success.
  20. THIS RANT IS WANING.... .....and the reason is that you are absolutely right about this, Baby Arm, because that really is FAU Coach Howie's job, I just don't quite understand why SBC commish' Waters didn't choose to ease all this on all the pioneering SBC schools who joined his football conference venture back in 2000; why he didn't choose to do this with FAU over the space of a few years rather than just thrust it all on us (seemedly) in one year, ie, the 2005 SBC football season. But now FAU has to recruit under NCAA D1-A rules and cannot get the quick fix with 1-AA transfers who could become immediately elgible which I'm sure was a reason for some of Schnellenberger's success and probably a big reason a 4 year old football program FAU had 30 seniors on last year's team. AND IN ALL FAIRNESS TO COACH HOWIE, he is also known to be a good tactical coach with an NC or 2 at U of Miami who will beat some teams in the SBC based on his coaching superiority alone. This is not about his quality of coaching and never has been. Its probably more about the fact I'm pissed that he seems to have "out-politicked" NORTH TEXAS if the truth be known. After 4 bowl games in a row, we seem to be sitting back passively waiting for all the fans to flock into Fouts Field instead of our dire need to (IMHO) market this thing as if we've had 4 losing seasons in a row; that is, to go out and aggressively seek out all the new faces/new fans in Denton County that we know are out there. All these potential fans out there we need inside the stadium have no clue what a good time Game Day is at our campus and that because the NT Athletic Dept. has done all the right things to insure that part is now covered. These are the fans that we need to get our average attendance figures at Fouts Field up to some respectable numbers. Our Mean Green coaches and football players deserve SRO at Fouts Field every game no matter who we play and with almost 6 million in the Metroplex, I'm not sure to this day why they don't get that in this new millenium. It will undoubtedly happen one day in Denton, but it really should be happening now. And I wonder if even our attendance struggles are another reason SBC Commish' Waters seems to now be looking toward other schools to pass the SBC torch to? I, too, also remember a name coach who used to hang around Denton that used to operate much like these high profile name coaches like Coach Howie (apparently) has and I had just forgotten how quickly they can cut thru the red tape and get things done by just waving their magic "high profile" wands. Others it takes years to do what the Mike Prices' can accomplish in 1 or 2 years and even at school like UTEP. On the other side of the coin and the part that concerns me a bit for us is how I feel Wright Waters seems to be passing the baton to the Troys, the FAU's (and he wishes MT finally step up) because "IMO" I feel he thinks NORTH TEXAS has taken the SBC as far as its going to take it as far as success once we get to the the NO's Bowl. As always......just my .02.
  21. In the history of modern NCAA D1-A college football, has there ever been a former NCAA D1-A QB who would became a D1-A head football coach who was so dedicated to running the football? Now it is fun to watch the Mean Green's Sir Patrick Cobbs and Super Jamario Thomas break those long runs from scrimmage, but to the casual fan, that group might want to see a few more passes now and then. Whatever offense helps us win football games is fine with me.
  22. And now that FAU has graduated almost 30 seniors from last years team and have completely crossed over to NCAA D1-A and all its rules PLUS don't have 1-AA transfers who can gain immediate elgibility----lets see who gets surprised the most. I think some on this board now know what the power of celebrity can do at some NCAA D1-A quarters, though. Some of us have seen it happen first-hand. Even with the alleged scandal of Mike Price at Alabama, he has worked some obvious magic at UTEP with his own semblance of celebrity. North Texas still just needs to take care of business at Eagle Point Campus no matter who our president or our other leaders are, because we all know who will still be around all this no matter whose in charge, now don't we?
