  1. This is a good start, LIDS has gotten with our program and they will get some of my dollars because of it. The last major NT branding (Helwig era--mid 90's)) seems it took years for retailers to switch to the new brandings and then years for them to order the new MG gear back in the day; but (again) because LIDS has the new logo AND the new NT color on this cap I will buy a few and pass them out. Look for even better designed hats as the days and months go by.
  2. For those who like the dark, dark green--there's your shirt. And how it shows up on you computer screen now is just how it will look on national TV when we host ESPN and Troy U and when the TV cameras scan our fans for crowd shots. Oh well, we are a most diversified MG Nation now aren't we? GMG!
  3. One college football pre-season magazine picked Willie Ransom as its SBC Newcomer of the Year. Are all of our DL ok grade-wise?
  4. NT AD Rick Villarreal set 3,000 Mean Green Club members as a goal his fist year at NT. I believe we still have a ways to go. I am sorry, but I don't have an answer to your question. The people who answer this phone number can sign anyone up in the MG Club in just a matter of minutes, though. 1-800-UNT-2366 GMG!
  5. This injury talk about Meager is driving me to an early grave. Hey folks! FB players have injuries and they get over them. We cannot worry about the future of any of our Mean Green players getting injured. Lets worry more about the stock market and what that nut Bin Laden is now up to. Some players have a series of injuries, get over that run of bad luck and then get with the program and carry on. Scott Hall missed almost a whole season with an injury but he had a darn good career at NORTH TEXAS and will soon be in its NT Athletic Hall of Fame. In HS, Dan Meager has come back from injury and performed quite admirably. I am on board with the Mighty Quinn and agree with our receiver that this young man from Richardson Pearce HS is the future at NORTH TEXAS.
  6. I agree that is just "plumm" crazy talk! Except for the fact that this non-flyer wouldn't have to board a plane, but darn it............its still crazy. There are other leagus who now know the Sun Belt Conference has something very special with the NEW ORLEANS BOWL. Hope Wright doesn't drop the ball on this one.
  7. How would NT Athletics balance what they would sell compared to what they would want to display in the new NT Hall of Honor facility at Eagle Point Campus? Of course, if Mr. Deep Pockets want's to give $50,000 for any of Emmitt's aforementioned items I'm sure arrangement could be made. Even yet, such items might be most historical items for future Mean Greener to see for decades to come.
  8. Harry, wasn't Dylan Lineberry in summer school because he just didn't have all the credits he needed before Fall camp? Had to be something like that cause Lineberry had made the Deans list or something similar last Spring which indicated that making good grades seems the least of our 2005 Lombardy Trophy nominee's problem.
  9. Thinking back over the last 30 plus years I've followed the Mean Green, Dan Meager is one of a very elite group that NT recruited as a QB that has the Texas HS football credentials coupled with all the recruiting interest that he drew from many major NCAA football programs. In fact, , I'm not sure we've ever had one at UNT that drew the enormous amount of interests as Harry's linked articles say about Meager. Actually, Port Arthur Lincoln's Kenny Washington who NT Coach Hayden Fry recruited was the last one we recruited that became a MG starting QB with similar Texas HS football QB credentials, who was fairly heavily recruited back in the day, and KW is now in the NT Athletic Hall of Fame. His brother, Joe, wasn't too shabby a RB for the OU Sooners and the Baltimore Colts. NOTE: Read in Barry Switizer's autobiography how if he had wanted a passing QB (instead of a pure wishbone QB) he would have recruited Kenny Washington. I look forward to watching the development of NT QB Dan Meager as our QB of the future. He has the pedigree that suggests he can be a very good one in Mean Green Country in due time.
  10. La Tech still needs to chip off the rest of the sludge and residue they got on their themselves from their very brief association with 1 or 2 schools they were in the WAC East with--no (smu) names mentioned. They seem to have develped "self importance-itus" and why is the big mystery to many outside Ruston Visit their board, check out their facilities via photo links and then discover this a school with no solid plans for much-needed athletic venues on the drawing board. Then shake your head with disbelief with some of the most unrealistic alums/fans in the entire NCAA. A group of their fans who now think their Bulldogs should cast their sails toward the MWC as their next conference and some of them actually believing they have a chance of landing such a membership. A hardy handful of their fan base know the Sun Belt will be their ultimate destination. It seems to me for La Tech it would be either the SBC, independent status (forget bowl games), NCAA D1-AA or...........drop football. I think their choice should be a no-brainer and one that even might help them join the NCAA D1-A athletic venues and facility arms race. ADLER, I admire you guys for all the extra you do above and beyond MG Club membership, annual season ticket buyers and being superb tailgate hosts and feeders of the Green Brigade and on and on; but concerning La Tech, if I were you guys, I wouldn't cast any further pearls before swine until La Tech comes down off their self-created egotistical cloud which for the Dawgs is becoming a very, very dark cloud.
  11. I think it is a most definite cosmetic improvement. What would you suggest to Harry, Cerebus and Steamin'Wille as other additions to this forum realizing they are still most likely tweaking the board?
  12. Because you are one of the most topical posters on this board, a past contributor to the Mean Green Report and (what the heck) I like your DD'ism at the bottom of your posts, so why not? Have I touched a nerve here?
  13. GreenBat, just when is the completion date for the field to be in? GMG!
  14. Daniel Meager was vying for the starting job in spring practices but sustained a shoulder injury that caused him to miss half of the spring. However, the redshirt freshman is back to 100 percent and is ready to compete for the starting job. In high school Meager was considered one of the top five quarterbacks in the state as a junior before injuring his leg prior to his senior season. <>*<>He was able to overcome his injury.........and led his team to the second round of the playoffs while throwing for 1,629 yards and 16 touchdowns with only three interceptions. Also a mobile quarterback, Meager rushed for 397 yards and 10 touchdowns in his final season. GMG!
  15. Merely a gut feeling here, but I feel NT QB Meager will not only start, but will take the MG Nation and the entire Sun Belt Conference by surprise. He will give us new dimensions as the Mean Green QB. He had a great tutor in the person of future NT Athletic Hall of Famer Scott Hall. Meager has the injury bug-a-boo behind him now and it will be all systems go for our redshirt freshman. Lest we forget, he came from a large Texas HS and produced the kind of numbers that even had the University of California Golden Bears as well as the University of Virginia Cavaliers after his services, so in that regard, he would hardly be called a project at NORTH TEXAS. I have no idea on the #2 QB but know we have some good young talent in camp which starts in just a few days. Just my .02...
  16. Sounds like your tickets are around the vicinity of where NT's guest recruits sit and, of course, they are not going to be given bad seats. Fouts Field seating in sections D, E and F are all going to be pretty darn good seats. GMG!
  17. Bill, that would be BJ's Athletic & Embroidering (or something like that) on Grapevine Hwy (Hwy 26) in NRH that do many area sports team's unis. BJ's also has a wide assortment of caps which I've purchased in recent years and had my own NT cap made at a Ridgmar Mall kiost. The jagged edge cap (made by Kati) was one of those that I had "NT" put on a couple years ago.
  18. Actually, I like the kelly green for the TV cameras and all the crowd shots from those TV cameras this Fall. I prefer wearing the dark green, but (after all) it is a new era in MG Country so I'm not going to fight it, but rather join it by looking for and buying kelly green shirts, etc, etc, in the next few weeks. Hard to believe we have a football game in less than a month. PS Don, did you get your voice mail from me the other day on my trip to a sporting goods store in North Richland Hills? I work 11am--8:00pm today, so I'll get back with you with what I found sometimes later today.
  19. Of course, if there are 30,500 NT fans all wearing hunter or forest green at each home game this Fall, that would not be a problem with this alum.
  20. Since the NT Branding Gang of ? spent some nice bucks with all the new NT logos and things, I wonder if they thought about budgeting monies as to distribute news releases from campus about all these most important changes? Such news releases to retailers who would need to know about all these changes from the git-go since they are the ones who will be selling Mean Green gear for the NT constiituency to purhcase? Word of mouth seems to be popular in Denton and is certainly inexpensive, but it does seem to be a very slow process. Again for those looking, the Finish Line has some very nice kelly green t-shirts of nice quality: 5 for $20 To Harry/Cerebus: Has the shade of green on this board gotten darker in the last few hours? I know yall have been tweaking the board, but what appeared to be kelly green yesterday seems to be a darker shade of green today.
  21. You are probably right about that stebo, but just in case, I'm going bring my 1960'ish vintage 3-D movie glasses to see if that helps with those infamous Fouts Field sightlines, too. Still, lets copy Troy U and, uh, build it! GMG!
  22. Surely its 2005 because I don't think UTEP would have been ranked #31 last year (not sure they should be this year), but there is no year listed on this CFN link.
