If we win out (not likely, I think), we wind up 9-3 and 2-2 against future conference mates.  It would be hard to let SL go.  On the other hand, a loss to UTSA (especially if it is a low out) would mean at best 1-3 against future conference mates.  A result making retaining him unlikely.

Your right of course @Graddean but we all know how unlikely that outcome is.  That said, he does still have a mathematical chance to have a good season and I assume the AD will cling to that for as long as they can.

Agreed. I am an alcoholic who has not had a drink since Christmas of 1988. Drinking just became a bad habit so I quit. The vast majority of alcoholics can't. However, from what I have read I think Sarkisian has a good chance, but it depends on how he reacts to pressure. I wish him well.

    Congrats on your sobriety.

  3. Thanks for posting this.  Sounds like we may have a good player.  He has struggled early but there are signs he can be better and I think he has a big upside.  I wish we were in the position to build the program for next year but our current coach has his job on the line and he wants to go with the more experienced guy (Aune) versus building for the future.  Again appreciate you posting here and also look forward to visiting Memphis and joining the AAC with your teams.

  4. North Texas has won two of their three games this season and head to Sun City to face a UNLV team that suffered their first loss in their last game. North Texas is 2-1 on the young season and they are coming off a blowout win where they scored 59 points. The team is led by a rushing offense that ranks 18th in the nation averaging 237.7 rushing yards per game. UNLV won in a blowout in their season opener but fell to Cal 20-14 on the road in their last game. They were dominated in time of possession in the last game where they struggled to run the ball. The Rebels can match their win total from last season with a win over North Texas, where they are a 3.5-point home favorite. Game time is set for 3:00pm EST.

There is hope for UNLV after the last two seasons where they only won two games. They nearly had an upset win over Cal last week and are the home favorites against North Texas. While the Mean Green had the offense last week their defense struggled for the second straight game. However, they have one of the better run games in the nation and they will have a good game on the ground this Saturday in Vegas. The Rebels will have a balanced game on offense and get their points but they will not be able to keep up with the UNT offense. I see a close game here but even on the road North Texas will lean on the ground game and not only cover the spread but get the win as well.

Take North Texas getting 3.5 points.

    Prediction: North Texas +3.5

10,000 percent. He began to see himself as bigger than the program. He, in his own words, was “untouchable” in his mind. He thought he could not be fired because he was too important. He thought wrong.

Can we not allow people to make mistakes in this cruel world?  I mean really it seems like college football

is just a microcosm of our society in general.  They guy is an extremely talented coach and would come with more accolades than any head coach we have hired in our history.

Why must we always go with a young inexperienced hire.  Mac was a great hire until he had his unfortunate health issues which was beyond everyone’s ability to predict.

  6. I feel like the Denton community and our fanbase would welcome Gary with open arms.  He is too young to retire.

Here is what excites me about Gary.  He knows how to build us.  Let me repeat that again so everyone can understand this because the guy we have now has no clue.  He knows how to build this.  He has an eye for talent.  He also knows who to hire to reel in the talent.

My only fear is that Wren won't consider him or anyone like him because he will absolutely hold everyone over at Bonnie Brae street accountable like they have never been in their lives!  He also will hold Neal and the Gang of 17 accountable.

I don't mean this as a criticism of Wren but the buracracy of AD's in general.  They much prefer a guy like Littrell that will "fall in line" and not complain and make their road much easier.

I don't believe that there's a particular kind of demeanor that's better or worse. If you're a good coach, you're a good coach. SL just isn't a very good coach. Mediocre at best. You are what your record says you are.

I couldn't give a rat's ass if he's a robot or a madman. Compete for conference championships, win bowl games, and beat more teams than just the bottom half of CUSA.

Name me one coach other than NicknSaban that is an introvert?  Name one.

The scariest part about this all is that SMU really doesn't have to get their guys fired up to play us--we get so intimidated and freak out as soon as the team sees a Mustang on the helmet.

Thats the sign of a very weak minded team. SMU has annihilated us pretty much every year since 2018. But we have given them so many easy wins by just cowering on the field. Its really pathetic. But then again, getting motor-boated at your place by them and then a few days later, start a thread about how they aren't a target for the big 12 as if that should be some pride point around here.

Normally I would disagree with you on this but with our very best wide receiver fumbling the ball you are probably correct.

I'm guessing you never say a Tom Landry press conference. Very matter of fact with his praise. Almost monotone. Littrell doesn't expect much of an audience to see these - they are done to allow local beat reporters to fill in background information.

Landry also emphasized not getting too excited on the sidelines as that could make you get too emotional to make the correct call on the next play. He had 20 consecutive years of winning records in the NFL so his approach obviously worked. I remember hearing him say you have to watch the film to know what really happened on a play as after every successful play you will tend to think it went better than it actually did and after every unsuccessful play you think it's worse. "Film doesn't get emotional."

Dude why are you always taking up for Littrell?  Comparing him to Tom Landry is crazy.
