I think for me it was just that it, and later the other font NORTH TEXAS, wasn’t complimented by a decent uniform, and we used those logos on everything.  We abandoned any Eagle related graphics entirely and just used text which just all looked and felt pretty meh.
That said, I wouldn’t hate to see it incorporated in things on occasion with better branding around it.

I think there is some revisionist history is going on here. Not only did we still use eagle logos during the script days, it even still had EAGLES spelled out in the end zones at Fouts.

Lol.  Good catch!   So, who inspired who is now the question.

Did UNT pay someone for this SOW logo design (or re-design)?

    Emmitt?

    .................................................................................................

DFW Airport had a similar situation.  They paid a company for a new logo several years ago.   Later it was found to be very similar to SFO's logo in color and style.  Someone probably sued someone for copyright infringement and soon after DFW then changed their logo to the current kindengarten font and orange lettering.

I always heard that the slight curl at the ends of the SoW wings were a nod to the flying worm, which had the same wing tip curl.

  3. ChatGPT was no help in suggesting a new sponsor.

As an AI language model, I don't have real-time information or insights into specific sponsorship deals or business considerations. The selection of a naming rights sponsor for a stadium involves various factors, including financial considerations, brand compatibility, and strategic partnerships. It would be best to consult with the relevant stakeholders, such as the University of North Texas administration or marketing department, to determine the best next naming rights sponsor based on their specific goals and priorities.

For some reason I believe that playing in the SEC is a step up from playing in CUSA or the AAC. In addition, you probably are getting paid more money than you would get at North Texas, if any at all. College athletics, especially football, has become a job where the opportunity to play and be paid is a major consideration. A number of these young men don't come from homes with the financial means to have spending money for clothes, dates, etc. Being fairly compensated in today's college environment seems more than reasonable to me.

To belabor the metaphor, it’s not a better job, it’s the same job working for a competitor.

I could read that guy's story 1000 times. There was a great video story in the Tulsa World that looked at Mason and Jason's friendship in high school and the hopes they had to play college ball. Think it behind the paywall now, but I watched it and shared it a lot while they were here. Mason remains one of my favorite North Texas players, as much for how he carried himself as his play on the field.

Not football or NT related, but if yall watched the Stars game tonight, I'm sure you noticed every frikin person in that arena was wearing a GREEN Stars jersey. If only our fans would do that. Then again, when our own teams don't wear green, why should the fans? The AAC was a beautiful sea of green.

Saw plenty of black Stars sweaters with neon green trim.  Just sayin’.
