  1. Like 8 minutes into the Memphis game? Had me thinking there may need to be some sort of training course established for Pit Crew and Talon members...maybe led by Bob Sturm: "Let me explain sports to you"
  2. Some proposals: Option 1 Option 2 Option 3 Option 4...and perhaps my favorite Think about it fellas...Tiki Bastardface has officially retired but the Pit Crew needs to find his replacement
  3. I wish I could be there to honor and remember the 2004 seniors...they provided us so many great memories...like drunken bowl game hugs of Jamario Thomas' mother whilst repeating over and over "make sure your son doesn't transfer." I was at Patrick Cobbs senior game and unless every body was counted 3 times theres no way there were 8000 people there...or even in the parking lot...it was a very poor way to send out a UNT legend...I pray this class won't have that same lasting memory.
  4. So far as I know the coaching staff essentially has absolute control over recruiting...if Slinker is on some sort of performance contract for this season it wouldn't stop here from recruiting and signing new players...the idea is what good does it do the program to prevent it from signing what are frequently the most talented players in the early signing period.
  5. Wow...ummm...lets say that if anyone outside of this board ever references Ben Knox and Tyrus Thomas in the same breath...I will personally apologize to the kid for ever questioning his credentials. My concerns on this kid are more than just his weight...though a player described as predominantly a back to the basket post will need to bulk up considerably. The other schools involved in his recruitment aren't at the level we should be recruiting...and these aren't even confirmed offers from Tulsa or Tulane and could just be who Knox was interested in.
  6. On that topic...and certainly not to rain on the Josh White love fest...but he is currently third in the Sun Belt with 3.7 turnovers per game...and hes averaging just 1.0 assists. On the plus side...he's 10th in the league in scoring average with 16.7 ppg on 55% shooting.
  7. Im begining to get the feeling that this season's UNT team isn't going to be the type of team thats going to lose many games that it shouldn't...and UNO games are those games. The past two seasons we've clearly been the more talented team, just couldn't find a way to pull out wins. UTA game is another example last season...JJ has a pretty good record of strong showings against better compition (Indiana, Houston, Memphis, OSU, Western Kentucky) but has a similar case of let fown games. Indiana State could've been that let down game...off a big win for us, with a bit of a rivalry game ahead...and ISU coming off an embarrassing loss...it would've been very easy to overlook them.
  8. Ha...I'll pay off the ticket lady with all the free burger and free movie pass I've collected over the years.
  9. Good point...thought that one went without saying...definently very sweet. This Kyndall Dykes kid can appearantly play...in UNO's opener he led the team in scoring, last season UNO had only 10 games in which Bo didn't lead the team in scoring. If Parlow can find his shooting touch and they continue to get either Tyrna or Elias to put up points and boards like they have so far and UNO may be a serious contender.
  10. Neither team has played anyone yet...WKU struggled for a half with Kentucky Wesylyan, Gonzaga struggled for a half with Idaho (before holding them to 13 second half points). Gonzaga would clearly be the better team with Josh Heytvelt...w/o him though I think WKU has a shot...but it will take near perfection. The Zags have 3 or 4 players they can play on Courtney Lee, including 6'10" freshman Austin Daye who is leading the team in scoring and 6'8 Micah Downs, a Kansas transfer...their length and athleticism will make it difficult for Lee to get his shot and if he's not scoring WKu does not have enough fire power to hang with Gonzaga. FAU is just awful in the backcourt...as for UL-L...Jessie Evans happened to them...he violated NCAA recruiting rules in bringing in guys like Orien Greene and the team hasn't had a winning season since he left. Their struggles have hurt the SBC's credibility greatly.
  11. I grew up watching Billy Ball at TCU so I already had a good deal of respect for him...that night put it over the top...he's a class act and our back and forth that night may've been the highlight of my Pit Crew career. Also forgot one from my earlier list: The find Collin Mangrum's cousin in the crowd game.
  12. First the sweet: UNO - 65 #21. NC State - 63 - T.J. Worley banked home a 3 pointer with 1.7 seconds remaining to give the Privateers and the SBC a huge win at N.C. State. Bo McCalebb led the way with 20, Kyndall Dykes added 13, freshman post Jaroslav Tyrna 12 and Worley scored 10 in a balanced UNO attack. Interesting notes: James Parlow, the team's second leading returning scorer went scoreless for the second straight game and post Ben Elias scored 4 points on 2 of 2 shooting and currentoly boasts a 100% FG percentage in the early season after going 6 for 6 in the Privateers opener. WKU - 87 Murray St. - 63 - WKU won a game it should have, and now prepares for a huge game Thursday as they open the Great Alaska Shootout against Gonzaga. Courtney Lee led the way for the Toppers with 18, but struggled from the field, shooting just 3 of 11. Tyrone Brazelton was more efficiant in his 7 of 8, 17 point performance. Gonzaga has knocked off its first three cupcakes in preparation for Thursday's game...and will be without the services of mushroom loving post Josh Heytveldt who has been sidelined with an injury. USA - 76 Grambling - 56 - Daon Merritt had his best game of the season, dropping 21 and Demetric Bennett added 19 as the Jags coasted to a 20 point win. USA has a very intriguing match-up on Thursday against Miami (OH)...the Redhawks were a tournament team last year and are coming off a nice win against Xavier. Now the bitter: MTSU - 79 Appalachain St. - 84 - MTSU dropped 2 of 3 games in the First Shot Exempt Tournament, played on their home floor in Murfreesboro. Kevin Kanaskie led the way in the finale for the Blue Raiders with 14. FAU - 66 Cleveland St. - 76 - Holiday Tournaments have not treated the Belt too kindly thus far as the Owls also lost 2 of 3 at the Glenn Wilkes Classic in Daytona Beach. FAU falls to 1-4 on the season and has only found consistant play from Carlos Monroe and Paul Graham...and they're making my preseason prediction of a SBC East title look pretty ridiculous right now...thanks guys! Denver - 46 No. Colorado - 64 - Three days after the Pioneers and the SBC got a nice win against the MWC and Wyoming...Denver gets double figures from David Kummer's 10 and little else in getting run out by the Big West's Bears. UL-Lafaytette - 56 La. Tech - 64 - Disappointing loss...especially with a game at Oral Roberts looming for the Cajuns. Elijah Milsap is legit...dropping 15 and pulling down 10 boards for his second consecutive double double. David Dees added 11, but on 1 of 7 shooting...telling the story of the 33% the Cajuns managed from the field; 25% in the second half. ASU - 59 Tulsa - 75 - ASU continues to disappoint...and it will be a long season for the Indians if Yima Chia-Kur, Isaac Wells supposed replacement at the 4, continues to put up 1-9 shooting, 2 points and 1 total rebound. Ryan Wedel (16) and Adrian Banks (11) won't be able to carry this team with no frontcourt help. Ohhh.. and to improve matters, ASU prepares for its match-up with #3 Memphis on Tuesday...Memphis is fresh off its 11 point win over UCONN...in Storrs, CT. and the most interesting: UALR - 58 UTA - 68 - The Mavericks remained perfect as they prepare for UNT on Weds. UALR, fresh off a blow out win at Loyola Marymount, got 12 points each from Terrance Akins and Stevie Moore...but has yet to find a true go to guy. UALR will again play scout team for UNT as they match up with Centenary on Weds.
  13. Just ignore the Sagarin ratings...you'll end up with a splitting headache trying to figure out their logic.
  14. That is interesting...while I love the moxy and confidence...I think a little more respect ought be paid towards those who came before...if I make a basketball game this season I will talk about: TikiSock PuppettsJamaican Bobsled guyAnthony WInchester (only if up 30 with a minute to go...otherwise never shall his name be spoken in the Pit)Wasian6'7" 150 pound walk-ons with the middle name Effin'Sturns, ohhh nooo....OK...that was niceIvan Almonte and Sergio Rouco's plans after the gameBracey Wright's bank shotsBradley Boydthat chubby kid who I think was Neil Daugherty's son on the end of the TCU benchCourtney Lee soooo not being overrated"Thats Sheldon Williams' brother!!!""Thats Sheldon Williams!!!"Barnett just picked up another foulSnooky, Skee, Tripod and the Point GodDrunk ScrappyMy dominance in halftime shootout compitionsleaving at 3 am after closing our repective bars, driving to Shreveport, and then driving to Lafayette and how insane that would've beenReminding every D-1 transfer where they came fromMean Green basketball pep rally's and vulgar rap songsTrip to The DrumPink Funk vs. Bukkake(man does that last one look gross)Billy Tubbs threating to make the Piston/Pacer fight look like nothing compared to what he would do if we kept heckling....and really anything else that I may've forgotten. Glad to see the Pit Crew is growing in numbers...but never forget where you came from kids.
  15. I remember Shea Seals and Tulsa's hay-day...late 90s...that program hasn't been the anywhere near that same level since Bill Self left. Tulane hasn't been good since Jerald Honeycutt was there in the mid 90s. I've had my reservations about this signing...and seeing that these are the schools we're competing against in the early signing period worries me even more now. Add the fact that he's 6'9" and only 215 and is considered a post player...thats very light for his height...and TexasHoops had him ranked in the mid 60s of Texas prospects, and Texas State is pulling kids in the 40s. After what will prove to be JJ's best signing class I have faith in him...but JJ's record of finding big men out of high school is very sketchy...Howerton, Stewart, Barnett (love you), Ron Harris have under-acheived in their time here...really only Quincy has panned out as a consistant post pressence, and he only did it last season. We seem to settle for projects, and just too many of them haven't panned out.
  16. No, but seriously folks, go to the basketball game
  17. Actually the one you were looking for is right here: Kleenex will making a killing off Yankee fans.
  18. What does a win have to do with the football board?
  19. I am amazed that there are still people on this board who find a way to defend Ron Mendoza. Is it the fact that his defense this week only gave up 31 points...and when compared to last week its a significant improvement? I don't think anybody is absolving Papa Todd from responsibility in this loss...we needed to milk more time on the last drive...and probably should've gone for it on fourth down late...but there has to be a point in a season where a defense has the ability to protect a 21 point lead...and it just hasn't happened.
  20. I love it, I love it, I love it!!! The Yankees just paid 275 million to not win a World Series for the next 10 seasons!!! Now Theo just needs to re-up Mikey Lowell and the team of the 21st century will be set for quite a while. Go Sox!
  21. Sargarin just needs to go away...especially around tournament time.
  22. Bumping our engagement? Atleast I'm the husband
  23. He doesn't happen to mention who our "2 NBA caliber guards" are does he...I'd sure like to know.
