  1. Colleyville Heritage has one of the highest rated QB's in the country. Just think about how many FBS college coaches have looked at their film and set foot on their campus. Not one of them offered Crouch. That is saying something. A lot of these kids play at schools that are very heavily recruited yet they have no offers. I don't think they are being overlooked.
  2. SMU liked him but they are tight on scholarship numbers and couldn't afford to give a spot to a kid that might not qualify.
  3. Tulsa got a home & home with OSU. They played at OSU in 2010 and OSU came to Tulsa last year.
  4. I think you can get it if you order the sports package.
  5. The Baylor games is going to be on national TV on Sunday Sept. 2nd. http://espn.go.com/blog/dallas/colleges/post/_/id/4678549/entire-smu-football-schedule-to-be-televised
  6. These kids may be world beaters, no one really knows that yet. They are under the radar type players from the simply fact that they have no other offers.
  7. Funny thing about this poll is that there are going to be 123 FBS teams next year. They lose a lot of credibility with me when they don't even know how many teams are going to be in fbs next season.
  8. It was actually going to be cheaper to for TCU to travel in the Big East then it was in the MWC. I think the travel cost are blown way out of proportion. Most of the Big East schools are located in major metro areas, you can fly into them and have a very short drive relatively easy. CUSA is the same way with the exception of Marshall and Southern Miss. In most cases you are talking about a 2:00 vs 3:00 flight. It's really not that big of a deal, most people on this board are making it a big deal because they want it to be a big deal. In this article it states that the Big East doesn't require schools to compete in individual sports against other Big East members during the regular season. So if SMU or Houston doesn't want to ship their golf team, tennis, or swimming teams to Piscataway, NJ or wherever for regular season matches, they don't have to. I believe they would just have to compete in the conference tournament. http://espn.go.com/blog/bigeast/post/_/id/15553/john-marinatto-talks-tcu-expansion Who knows where college football will be in 5 years, we might not even have conferences. Who knows. I just think if you can move up a rung in status, you do it regardless of the finances but I don't think the financial situation is as dire as people here are making it out to be.
  9. I'm not sure what this guys agenda is but if he was an SMU fan he would have referred to UNT as NTSU instead of North Texas-Denton
  10. SMU has loosened up their admission standards for athletes a lot. Their problem isn't getting kids in school it is keeping them there.
  11. I think that question has been answered. The money is going to be that much better or else they wouldn't have jumped ship. You are basically accusing a whole lot of school presidents and AD's of being absolute idiots. You guys really think they didn't give travel costs a thought ? Give these guys some credit, they didn't get where they are by being idiots.
  12. I dont get how this is so hard to understand but if the Big East loses teams it is bad for CUSA. This has been proven over time. UNT should be rooting for stability.
  13. I think this is similar to how the BIG 12 kicked Beebe to the curb. It didn't spell the end for the Big 12 and it won't for the Big East either. They both screwed up and let their conferences get picked apart. He turned down that Big tv deal from ESPN and there is no telling if they will be able to match it.
  14. Army turned the Big East down 6 months ago, I don't think they are going to have a change of heart. They got beat down regularly last time they were in CUSA and don't want it to happen again. They think it hurts their recruiting having America see their military's future stars getting beat down every week on TV.
  15. JJ showed interest in the SMU job before LSU's coach was hired by TCU. He actually showed interest in the SMU job immediately after it opened up but SMU was too busy getting worked over by Buzz Williams. Only JJ and his agent know if that interest was legitimate or just to get a raise. The Dallas area AAU coaches were actively campaigning for him to get the job but SMU ignored them for whatever reason.
  16. I knew this was going to happen as soon as UNT made it known they wanted him. If you were paying any attention you would have known that SMU's staff has been full since the day Larry Brown was hired. The only position that SMU had open on their staff was an non-recruiting administrative role and let's be honest you don't hire Evans for that role. I didn't think there was much of a chance of TCU keeping him with the staff turnover. The new TCU coach does things differently from everyone else in college basketball. Coach Evans is a great coach and everyone that meets him loves him. He is a great get for UNT.
  17. Well as a UT, SMU and UNT alum, I have made it a point to know where my teams could be playing because I try to go to all of their bowl games so I don't really need sources because I know it firsthand but if I must. Eaglebank bowl in DC is now the Military Bowl and has been since 2010 and features Army vs. an ACC. If Army doesn't qualify then a CUSA team will be picked http://www.militarybowl.org/ Texas Bowl in Houston is now Meineke Car Care Bowl for over a year. It is a Big 10 vs. Big 12 game. CUSA use to tie into the game but not since 2008. http://www.chron.com...eke-1685773.php http://espn.go.com/n...page/texas-bowl St. Petersburg Bowl is now the Beef O Brady's Bowl. CUSA vs. Big East http://www.stpetersburgbowl.com/ Ticketcity Bowl in Dallas. CUSA vs. Big Ten http://ticketcitybow...ce_partners.php Regarding the tv contract, you will see that they no longer have a contract with ESPN. If a game is going to be on ESPN or one of their affiliates it is going to have to be an away game with a conference that has a deal with them unless it is the CUSA title game which was given to ESPN in a settlement. http://articles.orla...-sports-florida http://www.cbssports...tv-contract/rss UNT did a bad job when putting this article on the website. They are using old bowl logos and listing bowl games that are no longer affiliate with CUSA. They didn't even mention the Tickeycity Bowl and that is the highest paying bowl in CUSA. All of this may be moot anyway as these things change sometimes on a yearly basis and by the time UNT is in CUSA half the bowls could be different. As for the Liberty Bowl, you can take my word for it or just wait to see but Memphis is taking CUSA tie in with it to the Big East similar to how the Hawaii bowl took the Hawaii bowl WAC tie in to the MWC. The SEC hates that it plays a Non-AQ conf champ in a bowl game and tries to weasel out of it every year either by having a SEC team find another bowl to play in or exercising an option that switches a Big East team with a CUSA. This is how SMU ended up in the BBVA compass bowl in Birmingham and Cincinnati and Vanderbilt ended up playing in the Liberty bowl.
  18. CUSA tv deal is with CBS and FOX. Most UNT games will be on Fox Sports Southwest or CBS Sports Network. There won't be any home games on any of the ESPN networks or ABC. This is all subject to change if the MWC and CUSA do some sort of joint tv negotiations in the future. That bowl info is old, here is more up to date info. Liberty Bowl Memphis, Tennessee SEC 7/82 Hawai'i Bowl Honolulu, Hawaii Mountain West Armed Forces Bowl Fort Worth, Texas at-large (2012), Navy (2013) New Orleans Bowl New Orleans, Louisiana Sun Belt Beef 'O' Brady's Bowl St. Petersburg, Florida Big East TicketCity Bowl Dallas, Texas Big Ten There is also a chance to play in the Military Bowl in DC depending on the year. The Liberty Bowl is going with Memphis to the Big East.
  19. Attendance is not going to bump up as much as anyone think's it is. Rice, Tulsa, and Tulane do not travel at all. UTEP will probably bring 5k extra fans, they travel pretty well. UTSA is yet to be determined. The teams in the east aren't going to bring anyone. These aren't big time schools, they aren't going to garner much more interest than the SBC teams.
  20. The Mountain was cancelled a couple months back, they are shutting down all programming any day now.
  21. Maybe UTEP has some sort of plan to still play in DFW and in Houston every other year or so.
  22. I am just about the only person in the world that is a fan of both programs. I think he is going to end up at UNT. SMU just snagged their DFW recruiter Ulric Maligi from Houston. I think they are only planning on getting one. They really like Evans at SMU but I don't think there is going to be room for him on their staff.
  23. The AAU coaches know who he is and let's face it that is who is making decisions about where these kids are going to school.
  24. Scott Sutton worries me, if he was that great Tulsa would of snatched him up a couple of weeks ago.
