  1. These types of discussions amaze me. All the "experts" who believe it's just part of an athlete's life if he/she gets thrown to the curb because the next great flavor of player might be available. How many of u have been part of a division 1 athletic program? The fact is that unless you've experienced it either as an athlete or their family, you have no idea how hard these kids work or the sacrifices they make. Believe it or not, most of these athletes know exactly where they stand on a team. Their place on a team is constantly communicated to them. Again, if you've not been a part of it, you can't appreciate how direct the communication is between coaches and players, even between teammates. Coaches understand the need to constantly recruit to shore up weakness. They also get that they can't have 13 superstars. There simply aren't enough minutes for 13 scholarship players and maybe even a couple walk-ons. Please appreciate these kids for wanting to represent UNT. Know recruits and parents evaluate every aspect of a program, including the contents of boards like these. Athletes want to be wanted just like anyone. Parents want their kids taken care of as promised by every coach and AD they are recruited by. These are one year renewable scholarships. Not one kid recruited to any sport believes that it won't be renewed each year if they do what they are told, keep their nose clean, and work hard. Just because some jackass at another university (SMU) feels empowered to negatively impact lives, doesn't mean all schools or coaches do. Also doesn't make it right. Be careful what you wish for. You have no idea how quickly the news of mistreatment of kids by coaches and fans spreads in the world of recruitment. Kids know it. Parent know it. Coaches know it. Don't think Coaches aren't using it against SMU right now. That tremendous talent that could allow us to continue our hoped for success after this year will know how we treat our kids. Negatively or positively. Believe me, they'll follow positive.
  2. Pretty simple why you should care what current players say. With them, chances for success are high next year. A win in the dance changes things for our basketball program dramatically. Wins means attendance, more competitive recruiting, more donors, better facilities, etc. This program is on the verge of tremendous opportunity, but only wins will allow accomplishment. I'm not saying you allow the committed to run the asylum, but you have to walk that fine line. There has to be discipline, structure and coaching. However, the players deserve to be heard. Even the best coaches believe is ain't the x's and o's, but the Johnnys and Joes. If you think Louisville, Kansas, Kentucky, and the rest of the power programs win because of game coaching you are wrong. Coaches make a difference in games, but players win games. The coaches who don't pay attention aren't able to recruit the best and won't win.
  3. Eustachy was named at Colorado State last week.
  4. Yep. Gotta trust em to sub em. Tough, especially at the 1 & 2 to sub during critical time. Tougher yet cause Alzee isn't a true 1. Little bit exposed tonight... Dang turnovers! Holman was good. Tonight is what I've hoped for all year from him. Maybe healthy now.
  5. Jeez dude, just disagreed with you. Let up on being a smart a$$. Didn't say anything negative about you family did I? Or did I???
  6. Have you seen him play? Multiple games? Over multiple seasons? I said he was gonna be a nice player. I just disagreed that he'd have anywhere near the impact to a team TM has had with us. If you understand how the rating services work and who is involved, you understand how the hype occurs. Sorry I poked you in the eye. Sorry I hurt your feelings. I'll try to be more gentle next time.
  7. Lots of pro basketball around the world he might be a better prospect for. NBA isn't one one of them....
  8. He is a young player with tremendous upside. Does he have the size or athleticism of TM? Not even close. TM has the size, length, and athleticism to play anywhere in the country. TM is going to be a lottery pick in the NBA next year. Frazier is a volume shooter who will have to learn how hard he must work to have an impact in the college game. He'll need a lot of attention and pushing to succeed as a freshman at the D1 level. Not saying he won't eventually have an impact. He's only been defended a few times like he will be at the D1 level and those results haven't been pretty. Ask any of the NBA scouts you see watching TM if they project Frazier as a lottery pick? Not saying Frazier won't be a really nice college player. Am saying he won't have anywhere near the impact TM has or will have.
  9. Now that's a reach. Frazier will have fraction, if any impact on a team as a freshman, especially if compared to TM. Wherever he lands, those fans will be frustrated with him, especially as a freshman. See Lebryan Nash...
  10. That he has. However, other than chemistry, he might as well have been playing there with me. None of Johnny's offense/defense, no crowd, no one playing game level team defense on him...... It'll take a little time.
  11. They'll be ok. Big arena. Big 12 team. Freshmen and Jr college transfers. Those were big 12 players they played against. Think about what the rest of the Sunbelt freshmen will be like. Gonna be some rough patches even when TMitch comes in. Remember, he hasn't ever played at the NCAA 1 level and he hasn't practiced a day with these players or coaching staff. Just give them time. By the end of the season you'll be thrilled with the progress.
