Well, I assume this means K.C.Keeler has been told he is not getting the job.  Does it mean we are down to three candidates or have they finally settled on ONE??

I'd think that Riley and Gillespie are getting serious looks otherwise this announcement would be done by now. It's always delicate when a coach is still in a bowl game, much less the playoffs. Fuente doesn't have a job so if it was him they would want to get him on the recruiting trail asap, so my educated guess is the other two are real candidates.

For sure.  I know it has been a tough couple of weeks for you guys for sure.  We had Coach Lashlee all set up and contracted in a very short period of time so it was a little smoother sailing for us.  Looks like you guys are still trying to identify someone who is interested.  One good thing is I like seeing that you are interested in Garrett Riley.  He was just an assistant for us but seemed to be a nice guy.  Not sure he would be interested in the UNT job but it doesn't hurt to try.

Why didn't you guys try to keep him at HC? Seems strange. Then again, maybe he wasn't interested. He seems to be doing pretty good now.

I just hope they fill in the logo like here. I've never liked that the CUSA logo at Apogee was just a white outline with the field grass being used to fill it in. We always complain about wrong shades of green being used, I'm surprised no one has made a complaint about it.

I understand what you are saying but we have to agree to disagree.   That was not even close to our situation, they are USC.  We can have the same expectations, but we don’t have the same resources.   In MY opinion, you have to do the best you can with what resource we have.  You are throwing around ideas like we have unlimited money.   The fact of the matter is USC can buyout any contract they want at any time.   Us buying out SL is taking critical money away from other things, you can’t just ignore that unless you have 2M you are going to pitch in for us.   iF SL had somehow gotten it together, we would have been financially FAR better off than we are now - it was both worth the chance and it was the right thing to do.

It was the right thing to do to for us  to let SL see if he can right the ship. He couldn’t and now we, and he, are paying a price for that.

I mean UNT has $10m/year to hire Nick Saban or another top coach away right? That's what USC has to work with, IIRC he and his family get a 24/7 access to a private jet. Comparing them to us is ridiculous.

    Gary Patterson.

Make it clear that the expectation is to build the program quickly and win the AAC within the next three years. Give him the funds to bring a quality OC and DC, and set the expectation that either the OC or DC will take over as HC when he's ready to retire.

Doing this will help us leverage one of the most successful football minds of the past two decades who is living down the road right now, build a strong program with a coach who knows how to win at the highest level, and set us up for sustained success with a HC in training.

Gary Patterson is such a wild card. I think we all question if he still has the hunger for the the grind to build a program up. I feel like he could be a huge success or a big dud with no in-between.

I assume you too are ok with people showing up to your place of work and chanting for you to lose your job? Perhaps calling your boss and requesting your termination? I mean a normal human being wouldn’t be in favor of that; however it seems like many people here are all for it. I’m guessing once they actually were on the other end they would be embarrassed. When in fact they should be embarrassed they even started this vile chant.

Last time I checked these students were paying an athletic fee, so your comparison doesn't really work. If for some reason I was the CEO and the employees were paying my salary out of their pocket while I continued to drag the company down, you know I actually would expect to see people show up to chant that I should lose my job.

timing couldn't be worse, right on the eve of the transfer window, how many current players are going to jump ship?  how many coaches?  They should have fired him a month ago, and could have hired a new coach in place ready to build a team.  But now it seems they are throwing next season away.

You've got to rip the bandaid off sometime. This decision has already been delayed a year, we can't afford to delay it for another one. If players leave then so be it, they will do what's best for themselves. I hope whoever is brought in can surprise us in how they can pull guys in from the portal. If the core of this team stays together I would think they would only need to strengthen some spots instead of having to do a full rebuild.

Hey, while we're at it, we should equally consider bringing back Dan McCarney as coach.

He had a much better career than Dickey, three times as many bowl victories, and didn't have the jackass antics.

Sure McCarney would be a horrible hire, but he'd still be 1000% better than Dickey.

Maybe not Mac but what's Skladany up to these days? That was the hardest hitting UNT defense I've ever seen.

I've bought 4 season tickets for years but cut it to 2 this season but kept the same MGSF donation. If SL is back next year, I may not buy any at all. Its time for some new energy & excitement around this program.

This would be the first time I ever questioned renewing. But I would definitely think hard about supporting another year of the same.

Refusing to financially support the program is the only way to force the administration into making a long overdue change. My wife and I were season tickets holders and avid supporters for years. The last season tickets we purchased were in 2021 and we became so frustrated with the situation that we only attended two games. We didn’t renew our tickets this year and have no regrets. Would certainly love to return but SL has to go or we will not.

But surely having a quarterback set records for a team that finishes 7- 6 (with only one win against a team with a winning record) is much more important than building QB depth.
