  2. I just realized the incoming President is from UNLV and we are playing UNLV in the heart of Dallas Bowl. Cool coincidence!

  4. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t0yKM9x6KvU#t=29 Good video on all he did for UNLV athletics After 4 years, UNLV President Neal Smatresk is leaving Las Vegas for North Texas. Coaches will miss his presidential influence.
  5. I wonder where they would move tailgating? This would take up the entire area.
  6. http://rodenfordenton.com/2013/11/city-council-preview-november-19-2013/ CONVENTION CENTER The City has been pursuing the concept of a city-owned Convention Center for some time now. Our most recent discussion involves a developer, the City and UNT, whereby the old Radisson Site on I35 (across from UNT) is redeveloped into a upscale hotel (with restaurant) and a convention center. Here’s a very rough site plan to give you an idea of the layout of this… You can click here to see the agenda sheet for this item along with the Power Point presentation we will be seeing at Tuesday’s meeting. There are a bunch of agreements included in the full backup in case you need more info on this. The land for the project is being leased from UNT. A private developer is building, financing, and running the hotel and attached restaurant. The city is contemplating financing, building, and owning the Convention Center at an estimated cost of $25 million. We are also contemplating using Certificate of Obligations to fund the project, with revenue from the Convention Center going to service the debt. Part of the agreement also contains the provision that the private developer (hotel owner) will make up the difference in what the city lacks in debt payment should that be necessary. It is hoped that this agreement can be reached and finalized before the end of this year.
  7. Wow, great graphic! I heart Infographics. (And I also heart Denton) Thanks for posting.
  8. Their tallest girl is 6'7". They were quick, athletic, and there defense was amazing. They caused so many turn overs. MeanGreen women gave it a great effort and got it back within 10 at one point. Was a great crowd with tons of Aggies. http://www.aggieathletics.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=27300&ATCLID=209305478 Some notes: "North Texas (1-1) closed the deficit to 10 points on three separate occasions in the second half, but a 9-0 run put the Aggies up 52-33 with less than 12 minutes left in the game." "The 12th Man from the Dallas-Fort Worth area showed up in numbers, as the 1,791 fans in attendance were the most for a North Texas women’s basketball home game since 2011."
  9. Can't wait for the game tonight! I am an Aggie living in Denton who loves UNT! So I am a little torn. http://www.aggieathletics.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=27300&ATCLID=209304063 Texas A&M has won its last three games in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, which includes wins in the 2011 NCAA Tournament over Georgia and Baylor, as the Aggies went on to win the National Championship that year. The Aggies are 5-2 all-time in Denton, and 3-1 against the Mean Green in Denton. Under Coach Gary Blair, the Aggies have won all four contests it has played against North Texas, but all of those matchups have taken place in College Station. In 1988, the last time the Aggies visited North Texas, the Mean Green saddled A&M with a 60-53 loss, as none other than Nelda Roy scored 17 points to lead all scorers for a Mean Green victory. Her daughter, along with seven others with DFW ties, will look to start the season the right way in front of Dallas-area friends, family and fans on Monday night.
  10. Thanks for linking this. I appreciate it! GoMeanGreenSocial!
  11. I really like what UNT has done in the last few years in getting involved with social media. It is fun to watch the youtube highlights, videos of practice, coach Canales, facebook and twitter posts. Coach Sumlin of the Aggies understands how important social media platform can be and I think it has helped tremendously with recruiting. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WqTJxheu8mY Now we just need to get Dan McCarney on twitter himself! The main area this helps with is in recruiting. Recruits are all over social media.
  12. Thanks for sharing! Good luck tonight!
  13. Dan McCarney just said on his radio show When he went flying - His heart was in your throat He said it was the loudest he yelled all game. Why didn't someone catch our starting quarterback?: Let the oppenents QB run into bench i don't give a damn But catch our QB! So funny! http://kntu.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=6322:dan-mccarney-show-&catid=12:unt-football&Itemid=17 (Listen right at the beginning) Had the same thought!
  14. I forgot about this play. At the 00:50 mark you see Derek make a run and goes flying into the bench on the sidelines where he hurt his hand for a complete series. I was so surprised no one caught him or slowed him down. The players just got out of the way. Youtube Video
  15. What was the attendance? Great game!
  16. Is Benford doing the same? It was good to talk to him at the kids clinic last year. Seems like a nice guy but I don't hear these kinds of stories like Peterson.
  17. I was a little surprised at the number of students who stay on the hill watching TV / playing games/ socializing instead of going into the game.
  18. Yep A&M has the largest student representation in the country. https://twitter.com/AggieTickets/status/378293178123571201 For the BAMA game they pulled 30,000+ It has been really cool to see the students at UNT get more and more behind their football program. Coach McCarney and the student athletes are doing a great job building this program.
  19. If you can’t go 3 hours without drinking, it’s called alcoholism. Just kidding.
  20. I am an Aggie and this is the "Game of the Millennium" according to Forbes: http://www.forbes.com/sites/jesselawrence/2013/09/10/texas-am-football-tickets-vs-alabama-are-most-expensive-cfb-regular-season-game-ever/ But I will be at the game on Saturday against Ball State. Go Mean Green. I live in Denton and support my UNT Eagles! P.S. I might have a radio in my ear listening to Johhny roll on the Tide.
  21. You can only blame your assistants for so long. Mack's time is nearing the end.
  22. Amazing project that Mean Green Sports has been working on that tells the improbable story of North Texas soccer Link
