  1. Jacob Farrell - North Texas Farrell is a very talented offensive tackle who signed with Oklahoma State in the 2018 class over Kansas, TCU and Texas Tech, among others. He was dismissed from OSU for violation of team rules. Farrell picked North Texas as his transfer destination, but did not receive immediate eligibility. He played in North Texas' bowl game following the 2020 season, but was injured in the first quarter. Now he is looking for another home. If the off the field stuff checks out, he would be worth taking a chance on. read more: https://www.si.com/college/syracuse/recruiting/transfer-portal-options-replace-willie-tyler
  2. Colleges and universities contemplate moving down the athletics totem pole all the time. Division I athletics aren't for everybody, especially when you're not cashing multi-million TV checks each year. Heck, even Jim Delany, the longtime Big Ten commissioner, threatened to take his entire behemoth of a conference to Division III if players ever started getting paid. (We all know how that bluff ended.) But it's not everyday a successful Division I program considers dropping down to D3. Such was the case at Eastern Washington, where the school openly considered dropping down to Division II or III, or remaining a Division I institution -- but with no football program. The same Eastern Washington that's in the FCS playoffs almost every year, that played for the national championship as recently as 2018, and that won the FCS title in 2010. The same Eastern Washington that was the only program in 2020-21 to reach the FCS playoffs and March Madness -- and not only that, the Eagles beat mighty Kansas in the first round. That same EWU could've soon found itself in D2 or D3 but, after a 10-month back-and-forth, the Eastern Washington board has voted 8-1 to remain in FCS. That vote followed the recommendation of EWU president David May. read more: https://footballscoop.com/news/eastern-washington-remain-fcs-will-not-drop-football-division-iii

Davis joins the LSU staff after spending the past four seasons coaching offensive lines in the Southeastern Conference. Davis coached at Florida in 2017, followed by two years at Missouri. Last year, he served as the offensive line coach at Arkansas. During his coaching career, Davis has had 14 of his offensive linemen earn all-conference honors. "Brad is a game changer for us and he's a great addition to our staff," Orgeron said. "We are excited about having him come home to be a LSU Tiger. Brad is a proven offensive line coach who has developed some outstanding players during his coaching career. He also gives us another tremendous recruiter on the staff." Davis coached at Arkansas in 2020 after two years on the staff at Missouri where he developed Tre'Vour Wallace-Sims into a first team All-SEC offensive lineman. Prior to joining the Florida staff in 2017, Davis coached the offensive lines at North Texas (2016), East Carolina (2015) and James Madison (2014). At James Madison, Davis also served as the co-offensive coordinator for a Dukes team that finished 9-4 and earned a spot in the FCS Playoffs. In five years as the offensive line coach and run game coordinator at Portland State (2009-13), Davis helped the Vikings set numerous school records including total yards (6,486) and yards rushing (3,330), rushing yards per game (277.7), rushing touchdowns (36) and total yards per game (540.5). The Baton Rouge native prepped at Belaire High School and later went on to an outstanding playing career at Oklahoma. A 2003 graduate of Oklahoma. 5. I respectfully disagree. Much much more attention and money will be given if a G5 makes it to the big show. It also helps separate us from the FCS and independents.
  6. The four-member working group will present the finding to a group made up of SEC commissioner Greg Sankey, Big 12 commissioner Bob Bowlsby, Notre Dame athletic director Jack Swarbrick and Mountain West commissioner Craig Thompson.
  7. The team will be better overall than the 2020 version that went 4-6 and got ripped to shreds in the inaugural Myrtle Beach Bowl, but it’s going to be a rough run. The nation’s worst defense is going to be better. There’s too much experience, too much depth, and too many changes being made to be totally miserable again, but it’s not going to become a brick wall in one offseason. The best offense in Conference USA won’t be quite as strong, but it’ll still be among the most dynamic, balanced, and with enough pop to keep up the pace against just about everyone. The problem is the schedule. It’s hard. read more: https://collegefootballnews.com/2021/06/north-texas-college-football-preview-2021/5
  8. In April, Pioneer Woman Ree Drummond's nephew Caleb was arrested over a month after his terrifying car crash also involving her husband Ladd. Two months later, Caleb is facing a DWI charge after cops said he was 'tipsy' and 'fast asleep' in his car, according to TMZ. read more: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-9664465/amp/Pioneer-Woman-Ree-Drummonds-nephew-Caleb-charged-DWI-falling-asleep-wheel.html
  9. Agree and he will always have a place at a P5 as OC based on what he can do with that side of the ball.
  10. The start of the college football season is just a few months away, and as we crawl closer to the first kickoffs we learn more about the teams and TV schedules, who is expected to be good and who isn't -- you get the idea. There is a lot of information coming your way. Among the information that starts to come out around this time of year are betting odds, and the William Hill sports book has released its first batch of futures odds for 2021 college football conference champions. In Conference USA, 2020 league champion UAB and Marshall are listed as the early favorites with +260 odds. UTSA is not far behind the Blazers and Thundering Herd at +325, but there is a sizable gap between C-USA's top three and the rest of the league. 11. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Jaelon Darden, WR, North Texas While the Saints are loaded, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are even more so. The reigning Super Bowl champions are returning all 22 offensive and defensive starters and boast a roster that is virtually unchanged from the one that took home the Lombardi Trophy in February. This doesn't mean, however, that rookie fourth-round receiver Jaelon Darden won't crack the rotation. While he's not likely to overtake Chris Godwin, Mike Evans, Scotty Miller and Antonio Brown on the depth chart, Darden has the short-area speed needed to contribute early as a sub-package player. Darden—who posted a 4.46-second 40-yard dash and a 6.66-second three-cone drill at his pro day—can be a terror for opposing defenses focused on stopping the vertical passing game. He can create separation underneath and turn short passes into long gains. This past season, he caught 74 passes for 1,190 yards and an impressive 19 touchdowns.
