I get that, and I think it's okay in this forum.  I just think it's more of a timing thing.  We just flushed the SL era into our past and some people aren't going to revisit it for now, even one of the more endearing pieces to it.

I see the Steve Austin thread, too, and wonder if this is a case of the original poster finding a handful of pieces on the internet that mention Mean Green, and he is trigger happy when it comes to starting new threads.

That's exactly what it is. Too many Boomers on this board that decide to create threads for no reason whatsoever except for the desire to post content to try and be relevant. I'm going to start calling them out by names if they don't stop.

I think grant maybe staying around till Baylor opens up.  I could be wrong but just a hunch.

It's not a hunch. I grew up a few doors down from the McCaslands and have talked to his brother within the last few years. He's been offered by bigger programs in the last few years and he really wants to stay in Texas. Baylor is the goal but that probably won't happen for a while and he is content with that. His whole family lives within 20 minutes and that is what is most important to him at this point.

Same as far as AAC being the top.  Id rather see all our teams win.  Would love for SMU and UNT to win all games and then come lose in the Alamodome.  Does us no good to just bring each other down and have CUSA 2.0.  Hopefully Rice gets things headed in the right direction next year too.

I believe he was talking about earlier, around the 6 min mark UIW went for 4th and 4 from like the 25 instead of kicking the tying FG.  The play at the end was stupid too.  They were gashing NDSU nearly 8 yards a play, no need for a bomb there.  Some questionable coaching and play calls during the game.  We will see how their HC and OC does at Texas State next season.

Yeah sorry I had a 10 minute (real-time) window where I wasn't able to watch it.

I don’t understand the infatuation with Emmett Jones. Followed the SOC program throughout his tenure. Was hired initially to TTech as someone to recruit SWDallas County (SOC, Duncanville, DeSoto, Cedar Hill, Lancaster, Carter and others) was able to bring SOC’s top defensive player to Tech and flipped him to KU when Jones was hired @ Kansas. Don’t see OC as an option.

An outside the box name as a possible position coach is SOC’s current DC, Kyle Ward. Should be a hot commodity within the next few years. I am aware of opportunities that he has turned down. He has repeatedly stated that he is not chasing jobs. He is primarily the reason for SOC’s defensive success. Their offense has been brutal due to key injuries so they have had to rely on the defense. Has been an asst at A&M and maybe 2 others. A product of Kimball HS with strong relationships with Dallas area coaches.

I’m honestly just asking. Why does it matter? Recruiting is a team effort amongst all the coaches on any given staff. I would think it’s very rare that a player commits because of a single coach.

For me, let’s just go get a baller who can light up some scoreboards right here in Denton!

It doesn't in the long run.  Also it allows us to get in front of unsubstantiated rumors that Jim Harbaugh and Jimbo Fisher both applied here and actually wanted this job at one point.
