unpopular opinion.....eastside is overrated. if you are the pretentious, fancy, random ass beer guy, it is a great spot...but a regular guy that just wants a beer, no thanks
their patio/outside area is probably the best in town
Thor is not a craft beer guy so I feel like he should preface by saying that.

Out of all the potential destinations he was going to go to I'm glad that he picked Kansas State. They really came on late this year and he stands the best chance of advancing far into the tournament next year with this team.

Coaches, too.
I'll be first and upfront, it appears we have done a shitty job in the portal... the +/- is certainly not in our favor, not only in quantity, but quality. The staff seems to be long gaming us with their recruiting of HS kids and not portal chasing. This ain't 2002, no such thing as a 4 or 5 year plan. Best be shoring up deficiencies immediately upon arrival. We haven't.
Well yeah because we can't afford 50k a player to stay put. Even the scrubs at SMU are making 40k. Sat next to a guy at a game in Denton last year who came to see his HS player (he was a coach) playing for SMU and said that the player claimed every athlete at SMU was making at least 40k a year.

It would be great to hire Josh White who loves UNT, learned from Coach Jones and would be a good PG mentor .
I don't know how much Josh actually loves North Texas. Matter of fact I remember after he graduated we had an away game at LSU and he showed up wearing yellow and purple.

Obviously winning will keep the students coming back. Of course more recognizable names of schools that are in the AAC will also help. This pounding the pavement though by the players is really instrumental in creating a connection between your average UNT student and a sports team. Now they've met someone who's going to be on the field and someone they probably want to root on on a personal level.
I agree that I would love to see more interaction like this.

I love this quote!
“Rosters are so fluid these days,” North Texas head coach Eric Morris said. “You’re going to lose some people, and we’re going to gain some people. I don’t have the energy or the time to worry about kids who don’t want to be here. We’ll feel some holes in the roster in the second cycle that starts on April 15th.

I read rosters as roosters and was disappointed to see I read it wrong.

Arguably one of the best players that Oklahoma State ever had. Welcome to Denton coach!

My biggest takeaways from watching the event replay :
1. The emotion for Tylor and how hard it is leaving his teammates.
2. I really like Burton and see a good leader.
3. The reality that success and leadership demand high character and can be real tests for a person . Let’s all 🙏 and / or wish for Ross’ protection .
We have years before Ross is poached based off of what he said today. He is looking for an exact fit for him, his family and the culture that he is leading. Don't get me wrong... this guys makes a run in the tourney in the next few years then the doors will be kicked down by P5 teams in the region.
That being said he might be even more bought in to the idea of UNT being a legit program than even Grant was (pains me to say).
He has the basis built by Mac and Crew. Just has to expand it.

No it doesn't. Tech respecting us and delaying the announcement was pretty awesome on their part. If he had signed the contract a week ago, as reported, then once the horn sounded and the confetti settled last night, he was done. They are now paying him to fix their program. It didn't say anything other than he is now an employee of Texas Tech and being the way he is, it was time to get to work.
It was longer than a week ago. More like 2 weeks.

Very disappointing news. Especially in the wake of learning that FAU will be keeping Dusty May.
https://twitter.com/MattNorlander/status/1641576569452806145
If we are going to rise in the college athletics landscape, we have to be able to keep our prized coaches. Sure Hodge is great, but we have to kick the perception of being a stepping stone. If FAU can do it, we should be able to also.
He had accepted the job over a week ago at least. My dad broke the news to me which was shocking but his source is all too credible and certainly in the know (not associated with our program). BTW Dusty was an assistant at Florida when he was hired and his record at FAU (before this year) is not really impressive. Certainly going into year 5 I doubt a lot of their fans were super happy about him being coach.

Hung out with my friend. The only thing that was silly was me locking myself out of the room this morning. Put the room service trey out and the door was heavier than I thought. Fortunately the cleaning person was across the hall. Saved me a barefoot walk to the front desk with no id and no phone.
Could have been a way worse situation than being barefoot too. There's probably not a one of us that at a certain point in their life hasn't made a quick dash in the buff.

Contemplating whether or not their coach is going to be here next year. Can't tell whether or not they think he will be poached or just let go. I love how a few of them thought that this game would decide which place would be the better destination lol. Tap your brakes bearcat fans
