Those tix are paid for by sponsors and given to groups like communities in schools who take kids to these games to give the students they serve something fun to do. They also give the kids conessions dollars to spend. It seems so simple, Why dind't the AD think of that before? Oh wait they have. It's has been done. For years actually. For example, "military appreciation night" last year, faculty and staff appreciation night, there was also a DAYFL game and A CIS game also happened, that was just last season. And they all were paid for by sponsors at a discount so they dind't even have to lose money completely. At some point people who have been given those tickets have to use them. Just because the wing didn't get filled doesn't mean tickets weren't given away. I've said this in another thread. Things may not always be as you perseive them to be. Just because you didn't know about it, doesn't mean it didn't happen.

I know for football they run 6 cams, which is what ESPN 3 prefers 4 minimum. The lenses they require 2 "40x" alone are upwards of 85k a pieces, that ain't going to happen. So I think they would let that slide. Lenses with doublers start out at 25k. A broadcast quality graphics machine starts out at 15k if they get a special deal. 30k for the minimum. Better cams at the most basic pro quality 15k. Additional routers 30k. Upgraded switcher 30k base level switcher. Additional ccu's for cams 20k a piece, shade stations not included. Additional fiber transmitters 10k. That's just what I can think of off the top of my head. Numbers may not be completely accurate as I have not looked into it much. You plan on writing a check? I know they do utilize students, quite a bit actually and they pay them too. NTTV doesn't pay their students. It's all volunteer. If you didn't notice than the students must be doing ok. Most schools out source gameday productions . They don't. They made it a mission to train and give students hands on experience. Its much harder than you think to get the university and the media departments on board. Especially since athletics has to have separate budgets and money can't necessarily come from the university. I do know they've been trying for years to get the school and media colleges on board. Even so far as trying to get a special class created. I also know talks are progressing to get the Athletics department to where they need to be to be able to be an ESPN school. It's going to take a massive investment from a lot of people and not just from the ad. SFA spent over half a million to get them there. I watched some of those CUSA softball streams the athletics video dept produced and they are not far off. Conference even gave them props afterwards via Twitter. Many of the school in attendance were impressed with what they did with such a small team. So things may not be what you perseive them to be. Let's hope they get it all worked out. I'm curious if not having an ad could stall some of this.

Nothing particularly special. But to say they don't care, I think is a little dishonest. Do you really think they want us; a team that went 1-11 fires their coach, has and AD that's stepping down, to beat them? A team that is in a better conference, has more resources and a "high profile coach." I just don't think so. Maybe they don't care about us in the way some people around here think they care about us, but maybe, just maybe they do. If they do, so what? What does it hurt? They care, one way or another.

They Definatley are separate, unfortunately in today's climate content creators are being asked to also be CDN Saavy. As far as free vs paid it works the same. Like I said my mobile devices iOS have had no issue playing free vs streamed in full screen. It's all archived and placed on the on demand portal. I know the stream is sent to CBSi for distribution and they encode for multiple platforms. Links are usually tweeted out. And are placed on the website calander as well. Should more of a push be made, yes absolutely. But a link is a link no matter what platform it's on. For people who follow the softball program for example and will pay for the service, they know where it is. In fact , I know the followers of SB drive most of their subscriptions. Of course it will vary by season since you can pay month to month or yearly. Unfortunately, it's rather expensive for an athletic program our size to not only produce but have the data streamed and archived. I don't think people realize how many events are streamed and produced by our students because by comparison it's rather good. I have heard ESPN 3 may be a possibility for next football season. But don't expect ESPN3 to be shelling out money for schools of our size to produce content like they have done for sec schools. A&Ms. 4 control rooms were mostly paid for by them. Remeber our game vs SMU was an espn3 game and a local truck was brought it to produce the game. I am hopeful a free distribution model will surface, but for now it must be paid service. If you pay for MGS service I believe you can get CUSA portal as well. Those that have mentioned fans would pay, that's not true in our case. Our fans only want free stuff. However,I do know MGS leads the conference in subscriptions, views and revenue brought in.

If you go to meangreensports front page any free video lives on the player below the rail. Should it be higher? Yup. Can the platform be better? Yup. But that's what C-USA contractor is. I know all schools are required to provide content for c-USA DN.m. Obviously anything that is premium, is paid content. You should see some of the other schools in our "price range" and what they do. Some is better but not by much, because they understand the money it takes and some are way worse. My understanding is there has been work to get the product better, is it where they want it to be? Of course not. I know the new director of media and his new assistant are Alumns and care about the product. And have been working hard. I know they would want it much better but it takes small steps and convincing. I do know the video department has made it a mission to use students from Media and Journalism to fill positions and use it to help supplement their education and they do get paid. So the product may get better or it may stay as good as the students they use and as much as the students want to take it and run with it. As far as the website, CBS is contracted by c-USA. The schools that are on another platform are there because they already had existing contracts when they were added to the league.
