  1. A 10.9 would have only been .2 of a second from a top 10 finish at the 6A level at the state meet his senior year. Luckily for us we need him to play football, not compete in track. This is a very solid get for us.. Rick
  2. Horton was actually recruited out of Cy Ridge as a DII player. Tarleton transitioned to FCS during his Junior season. I agree with an earlier post that there is some major talent at the lower levels. You just gotta go find em. Horton’s talent is quickness & speed. He only lettered in football one season but was a track star as all through high school so it doesn’t surprise me that larger schools passed on him for football. Lone Star opponents did not like having to punt and kick to him. Rick
  3. And that’s why so many of us wanted Willie Fritz when he was at Sam Houston and Georgia Southern. Great game by the Green Wave. Rick
  4. Here’s the original game day Battle Flag at Kyle Field on September 22nd, 1990. Notice the track. This Battle Flag was also used in the movie “Necessary Roughness” which debuted the following year. Rick
  5. It can affect play calling that hamstrings your defense as well. Rick
  6. Littrell lost this fanbase between the periods of flirting with the Kansas State job and getting throttled by a skeleton crew coaching staff in the N.M. Bowl in 2018. Rick
  7. Best part I loved about that game was when they first needed a yard in the biggest game they’ve played in since 1938 they dialed up some common sense. IMG_1669.MOV I also can see their appearance in the NC possibly elevate DFW college football, and yes, we have recruited against them in the past. Rick
  8. I’ve never seen a shittier officiating crew than last night in the Super Pit. Congratulations to those guys for setting the bar for sorriest inconsistency in reffing for my 35 years watching basketball there. As for this team, if there’s an up and coming talent that can fairly/regularly hit 8 to 12 foot jump shots not named Tyler Perry we need him to show up and soon. It’s way too soon to panic but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t worried. Rick
  9. There’s no place like home. Another great hire and successful product of Stephenville, Texas. Rick
  10. …..and he would have been a 4/5 star recruit by today’s standards that we have rarely ever gotten, which G5 programs rarely ever get,…and in many instances rarely guarantee success by programs that do get them so let’s wait and see what this staff comes up with before we shit our fantasticly over reacting pants,… which is the point @ntexeagle was making in the first place. Rick
  11. Another very solid hire. Coach Morris continues to check every box our program and culture need. Rick
  12. Fantastic event and two very solid hires. Lots to be excited about as the Mean Green move towards taking that next big step up. Rick
  13. I could see someone from Crane, Texas wanting to come home. Rick
  14. Mack’s offense is putting up 578 yards PER game right now for UIW. He got his first start in Apogee as a freshman QB for UTEP in 2013 late that season. Tuff kid, and EXPECTS HIS QB’S TO BE TUFF AND STEP INTO THEIR THROWS. I hope Eric brings him in. Rick
  15. Good hire. Won championships at a lower level. Won’t be spoiled. Seems to be able to communicate well. Will be interesting to see who he hires as DC? Rick
  16. We have no idea what their “in it” motive might be until we ask. Maybe they want to Lane Kiffin it back to the red carpet, and the only way is to kick ass here. Who knows? Rick
  17. “On 3rd and inches, does your QB generally go under center…..or do that stupid f%€#ing $hit where he’s five yards back in the shotgun, hands off and expects the runningback to make up that five yards plus, despite it not working the previous several times?” Rick
  18. Schnellinberger had winning seasons in three of his first five seasons, including a conference championship and a bowl championship by his fourth year. Yeah, he didn’t get them into the SEC by year 10 but what he did accomplish, building a program from absolutely nothing, at his age was simply remarkable and proof that you can’t judge a book by its….cov,….expiration date. Funny thing was North Texas lost to him 6 straight years before Dodge somehow squeezed out a 4 point win in 2010. Rick
  19. At the time a conference championship was pretty high praise, and Simon and Dickey(conference & bowl championships) were in their 40’s when they accomplished that at North Texas. Schnellenberger was in his 70’s when he started kicking our asses at FAU, and Coker in his 60’s when he started UTSA. Regardless, for anyone to place an age bias/limit on a coach before knowing their current status and present ability is ridiculous. Rick
  20. 53 might be ok in your book but would bother the s#it out of someone else, trust me. Rick
  21. Yup,….he’d never make the grade. Rick
  22. I swear, if we could fire up the time machine and catapult 2003 Nick Saban here someone would claim the part in his hair was on the wrong side. Rick
  23. Don’t get me wrong, he’s not at the top of my wish list. But he’s BUILT……………….a winning program in Texas from absolutely nothing at the DII college level going 52-21. He was the conference coach of the year four out of six seasons he was there at ACU and placed several players in the NFL. And since has coached and recruited at the highest level nationally. And he’s only 54. The last guy to win hardware here at North Texas was 60. If he’s still got the fire in his belly and able to sell our program and adjust and mold it to within our unique culture he’s exactly what we need. Now, I haven’t heard him speak as a head coach so I can’t say if he’s all that. But regardless his hiring wouldn't be a “disaster”. Rick
