Nick Saban retiring
MCMLXXX replied to GoGreenBeans's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Do you remember the last time we hired a former Alabama Head Coach, that had won a national championship, as a consultant? He told us Fouts was good enough and we didn't need to build a new Stadium. I can't remember anything good that came out of that hire. His suggestions may have been impacted by having watched a Trilli team barely beat a D3 squad the night before his presentation (he mentioned that fact with derision in his presentation). The year was 2001 and the team Trilli had trouble beating was Hardin Simmons ( one of four wins that year in BB). -

You can't spell Punt without UNT so why not fake it?
-
He was a dual threat quarterback in High School and has good size (6'1" 210). Always good to have a punter with those skills in the event you want to use them for a fake punt.

Florida State officially leaving ACC?

Generally spelling and grammatical errors will not make a legal filing null and void and without legal force or effect. -

Their reduction in seats is designed to take that "plummet" into account. -

I lived in Waco for three and one-half years in my youth (1967-1970) and Baylor played at the Heart of Texas Coliseum at the fairgrounds (home of the rodeo etc.). The new facility looks similar in design. Heart O' Texas Coliseum 2 - Extraco Events Center - Wikipedia -

Is he a PWO? He left WSU after 2 games with no reason given. https://247sports.com/college/washington-state/Article/jake-dickert-wsu-football-dt-sheffield-no-longer-with-program-215966268/ Just saw his name was added to list of NLI signees. It wasn't there when I saw your post. Still wonder why he left WSU last September. -

Now that he is in the ACC, if he leads Cal to a win (or wins) over SMU many on this board will forgive that indifference and want to put him in our HOF.

Where are you getting this info? It is true our numbers are higher than our conference mates but there are others with high numbers as well. Here is a reliable link you can use to track each school. 2024 College Football Transfer Portal (247sports.com)

That bad team beat SMU two nights ago.

It looks like in a few years the UNT Hall of Fame will run out of athletes to nominate.

All depends on how you look at it: UCLA is 103 is what the optimist sees. SFA is 101 is what the pessimist sees. Most would be happy in any given season to be ranked one spot below UCLA.

Interesting hire. https://www.texasfootball.com/article/2023/11/26/breaking-mark-stoops-hired-as-new-head-coach-of-the-texas-a-m-aggies?ref=article_preview_img

Apparently, we are a "lesser rival" (about 30 second mark).

Is the "Triangle of Toughness" moving to College Station?
MCMLXXX replied to emmitt01's topic in Mean Green Football
Fisher's failure to connect to high school coaches and further ignoring Dave Campbell's Texas Football are two of the reasons given for his firing. That is in addition to taking his team to away games on Thursday nights etc. Every year at the coaches' convention, there is a keynote panel that includes every Division I coach in the state. This year, Fisher was the only coach who didn't show. His presence was expected and his absence was not explained. That raised eyebrows across Texas. "I just believe that if you coach in this state, you need to know when the Texas High School Coaches Association convention takes place and you need to be present," said Lee Wiginton, the head coach at Allen High School and the past president of THSCA. "Texas A&M is a prestigious program in our great state. When their head football coach doesn't attend our convention, it's simply not a good look in the eyes of the Texas high school coaches." Fisher was the only coach in the state in recent years not to do interviews or appear on podcasts with Dave Campbell's Texas Football magazine, often called the Bible of football in the state (and a publication that put Fisher on the cover when he arrived in College Station).
