  1. It's a good thing I didn't notice that (my eyes were alternately on our flag and the lady performing the National Anthem) or that the Veteran that was with me didn't notice that. We will not tolerate that crap from anyone.
  2. This is definitely a Jeckyl and Hyde season. Last Saturday they were in control, rebounded, and had only a few turnovers against a good NMexSt team. It was fun to watch. I'm going tomorrow and taking two "firstimers" to the game; I hope our team from a week ago shows up!
  3. Congrats to CaraBear for a super job on the National Anthem, made even more special by the moment of silence beforehand for our fallen space shuttle crew. The left foot coverup was fairly successful too!
  4. Hi! My name is Tom and I'm an Eagleholic. Born, raised and graduated from high school in South Bend, IN, came to Texas for college and never looked back. I'm probably the oldest confessor on this thread so far. BBA in management, 1969, Pan American (now UT-Pan American). Came to Dallas as a bank examiner (OCC 8 yrs); then banker (8 yrs); then investment banker (10 yrs); now a C.F.O. In the middle of all that, earned my MBA in finance at UNT in 1989. Started to attend UNT athletic events when I was a grad student. Have been a football season ticket holder and Mean Green Club last 3yrs; life member NT Exes. Went to Austin and Ft. Worth road games and give support to the tailgating effort. Love my basketball too, but can only make weekend games due to tipoff time. Long-winded and more information than you wanted, but I was on a roll.
  5. I'll be there again on Saturday to catch your performance. I am bringing guests on February 8 and I would like them to hear you but you said awhile back that that game was not one of your "gigs". Their loss.
  6. We need Jerome and Lee to have unconscious shooting nights from outside the arc. That will bring out their defense so Chris and Jermaine have room to work inside. Then OOH LA LA, we beat 'em.
  7. And then there is the light pollution from that green floodlight. Actually, I fancy a green "batsign", only make it a Scrappy.
  8. " I wasn't criticizing..I quote from movies all the time. " I didn't think you were criticizing for a nanosecond,CMJ. I was just being exhuberant BECAUSE I'M MAD AS HELL...AND I'M NOT GOING TO TAKE IT ANYMORE!!
  9. If you have a mental image of that, THAT is what I felt like and THAT was my demeanor! And YES, I stole that quote on purpose. I want all Mean Green faithful, to get up, go to your window, lean out and SCREAM as loud as you can "I'M MAD AS HELL AND I'M NOT GOING TO TAKE IT ANYMORE!!".
  10. I'm mad as hell...and I'm NOT going to take it ANYMORE!! I took the first step in gathering ammo for a protest by posting an inquiry on the Sunbelt board requesting input from other fans/other schools. I can't believe we are the only ones in the league getting screwed like this. Let's see how the others view the Sunbelt Gestapo.
  11. I said in a post after the Arkansas State game, and I will say again, when are we going to organize an email protest campaign about these bush league officials we have in the Sunbelt conference? THEY SUCK! They cannot call a consistent game. Is it Waters we have to get to in order to register a complaint? Something has to be done.
  12. I wonder if he becomes eligible as soon as the fall semester is done (i.e., December 13-19 or thereabouts) or if he has to wait to participate until the second semester starts. In the first case, we might have him for 20 games or so.
  13. I appreciate what you said, Tony, and agree with you. My point is that the Sunbelt should recruit some officials who do a reasonably competent job and are able to call a consistent game. I've seen that kind before and I think they are out there somewhere. The game is so fast now and the players so quick and agile that it is without question a really tough job; I just want to see a game where I don't remember the officials at all. To me, that is a well-officiated game.
  14. Several years ago my (then) teenage kids came home from the video store with Vampire Hookers. I was tempted to confiscate it but allowed it to be run in my presence. They tried to tell me it was a horror movie! Absolutely bad...a waste of film. I won't make any "sucks" comments.
  15. They are spineless appeasers, Rick, who ooze onto land from the scum around the aeration pond at the sewage treatment plant. They think that the godless maniacs that rule some countries on this earth can be negotiated with and that their word is good. These people are ignorant of the lessons history has taught us and they are naive.
  16. I want to congratulate Cara Bear on an OUTSTANDING rendition of the National Anthem last night. What a great voice and a great job on a difficult song! Be sure to let us know when you are on the schedule again.
  17. I concur! The officiating at the four home games I have attended has been the worst I have ever seen. Can we start an email campaign to the conference office re: the lousy officiating? Not only did I see the crap mentioned in previous posts but I also have a general impression that they call a lot of ticky-tacky fouls that would not be called by officials in the ACC, Big 10, Big 12, etc...in other words REAL officials. These officials we get seem to be beginners...especially the tall, white, balding dude we had last night.
  18. I agree RE: Miller and it looks like we're stuck with her for a full term because I, and the people I know, can't abide "Miss Piggy".
  19. I saw Erika play today for the first time. I really liked the way she handled herself on the court and ran the offense. Unfortunately, she couldn't hit a bull in the ass with a brushpile. She took some really bad shots (poor shot selection/judgment) and missed at least two wide open shots I can remember that were airballs. I don't remember Rosalyn as a freshman, but she must have been a more consistent shooter. First impression.
  20. Yeah, Bandgeek, I saw the play. BRUTAL. But hey, I don't want to see her bruise in the morning...she wasn't my type.
  21. I went to Denton early (got there by 11:30), walked into the Mean Green Room about noon, had a lovely time and got really pumped for the games. What a letdown! I just got back and looked at the box score and couldn't believe we shot 43%...that seemed like the worst shooting night I have witnessed in a LONG time. Denver beat us at the line today, big time. I just sat in the pit, stunned, and waited for the Lady Eagles to gain a split on the day so I wouldn't go slit my wrists. They looked HORRIBLE today against average competition. Their stats must be ugly because I saw so many airballs and bricks put up this afternoon it was pathetic. I'm on the crisis intervention line now, but I won't really end it all; both teams gave me something. They both hustled and I didn't see any player dogging it. Thank you for your effort, Mean Green and Lady Eagles, but I must remind you that the object of the game is to put the ball in the hole.
  22. The game is still going on and it is the most embarrassing loss I can remember since Trilliball. I hope JJ makes those guys walk back to Dallas! I always listen to the WHOLE game and the "Post Mortem"; when I go to the game, I NEVER leave before the final buzzer. There is a first time for everything...I have lost the will to listen any longer and am turning off the radio NOW.
  23. Well, we stunk up the place in the first half! The boys have dug a hole so deep that light doesn't go there. Turning this game into a mid-teens loss would be a major accomplishment at this point. JJ does not have things going his way this season. Injuries have bit him in the butt and the players are underperforming when it counts. CD is scoreless! Degrate is high scorer with 5!! Team is shooting 29%, only 9% from three-point land. Our worst performance this year.
  24. Dave Campo is a GOOD coach who got no breaks at all. He was bitten in the ass by injuries, inexperience at skill positions, and an idiot offensive coordinator. He is not the real problem but he has to pay the price. Dave Campo will be a tremendous defensive coordinator for someone or maybe go back to the college ranks. Just a thought...would he work for Parcells and stay? That goes against everything I've ever been taught, but so does a lot of what Jones does. It could happen! If it does, remember that I brought it up first.
  25. Same story in all four losses. We give up one or two ten-point runs after hanging tough for 15 - 30 minutes, are unable to answer with a run of our own, chip away at the lead (sometimes getting as close as two points), then fold. The guys fight hard and fight to the end...JJ would have them on the bench if they didn't. This team reminds me of our football team in the early going this year. The team needs to find a way to shorten those opponents' runs or get on some themselves, and they will be successful. I was VERY concerned about CD but he seems to be getting his groove back. I'm looking forward to seeing these guys play some good basketball in January and February...I think they will.
