  1. FFR, you didn't extend the aura of power generated by the () NEAR far enough. This newlywed will be 61 in April! I KNOW the power radiates at least that far.
  2. The kid looks to be small and not THAT fast. The fact he had interest from several big names and landed at MUTS suggests to me that the others backed off of him as signing day drew near. This is another joke on the MUTS, who had their best chance to beat us this decade last season and blew it. I will not lose any sleep over this defection. Look on the positive side, it's just another nail in Flanny's coffin.
  3. Oh $hit, Oh $hit, Oh Dear! Did we forget to recruit a kicker to step into Baz's vacated spot? Are we going to have a walk-on, kicking caravan and award a ship to the "winner"? An inquiring, Shiner-clouded mind wants to know.
  4. The coaches are correct to pursue the highest caliber players that will listen to their pitch. I always say "If you want to park in the front row, you have to LOOK in the front row."
  5. The number 4,000 is what I remember the allotment to be. I believe it is the same for every UT opponent and they are in that endzone/deadzone corner on the (I think) northeast part of the stadium. That's what I recall from two years ago and four years ago...that and a major ass whipping two years ago. Don't know if my stomach can stand another one of those, but I'll be there.
  6. Glad, just want to reiterate in this forum that I have always been, and will always be, behind you and this program. Win or lose (although winning feels a helluva lot better).
  7. I'm even more uncomfortable if it ain't a chick that made the post!
  8. I've been trying to re-up since my subscription expired in December, without success.
  9. The lesson to be learned from this is...tell the team to CONTROL PETERS !!
  10. You WILL see me routinely at football games. YES, I love basketball, too (raised in Indiana, nuff said). You will NOT see me routinely at UNT basketball games. Reason: the tipoff time. I just cannot make it to Denton during the week. The only games you will see me at are Saturday games. I'll bet this is a major factor in the disparity between football and basketball attendance. This is not just an excuse. Work demands, distance and traffic problems make it impossible to get to Denton by 7:00pm during the week...period.
  11. I didn't MEAN to say that JJ should get a pass if he doesn't make progress, e-bone. What I was saying was, I think so well of his program (and think he has had some lousy breaks in previous seasons) that I would HATE TO SEE HIM NOT make progress. I feel that he WILL be under some pressure if the team record and performance is sucky this year; I just personally would not want it to come to that. JJ is the real deal.
  12. Johnny Jones is a class act all the way. Win or lose, we couldn't expect to have a better BB coach right now. I hope the ball bounces his and the team's way this season, for a change. I would not like to see him come under pressure for not making progress.
  13. Hey, I don't think those football facilities are as great as some say in this thread. I drove by them on the highway that runs along the open end of the stadium twice on the Friday after Thanksgiving;you can see everything. Had lunch with my kids at Mamacitas before starting back for the Ark St game. I had a chance to scope them out pretty good, and my gut reaction was 5-A high school; Fouts is bigger and better looking. All stadia look better with a full house, including Fouts. Texas State has a beautiful campus, but they're no reason for stadium envy.
  14. Mary and I just got married on July 30...let your imaginations run wild!
  15. Mary and I will be driving back from San Antonio. Won't get to party but hope to make the kickoff.
  16. The devil you know is better than the devil you don't know.
  17. That list sounds to me like something put together during a night of binge drinking. When they sober up and realize what they will have to offer someone on that list to come to BUFFALO they will go after the dude being cut loose at Missouri State. They will have to take an intermediate step in coaching talent and hope to have some success before they will be able to attract a good assistant from a big-name program. Only exception I can think of is if there is a deep-pocketed booster behind the AD that is going to fund the deal.
  18. ULM can eat my shorts! I would like to see ULaLa go bowling at home, for the reasons in previous posts. We REALLY need to take care of ULM this weekend.
  19. I read the whole thing. That doesn't seem like a bad staff or that bad of a record. The guy apparently has coached some good players over the years and had some success. Sounds like the Missouri State folks got tired of just being competitive and are looking for someone to take them to the next level. This coach and most of his staff will not be on the market long!
  20. REALLY hated to see Blake's arm broken during the game. Mary and I hope he heals quickly and fully so that he is able to regain the strength in his arm. He is one of the Mean Green family first and foremost; get him well first, THEN think about getting him back to practice.
  21. Emmitt, I had the news on in the background while doing morning routine. My heart skipped a beat when I heard the name "Jackson" from the tube. Thank God it was not you in such a senseless situation. Just how bad would things be if there were not men and women willing to serve us as policemen? Pray for his family and let a cop know you care at the next opportunity. I will.
  22. Well, Mary and I DID save a TON of money by consolidating our car insurance policies with GEICO!
  23. There wasn't much meat in that spread in the DMN. Seemed to be all about SMU and TCU. Except for Barnet, we have no bangers. Small ball is cool to watch but it takes a big front line to go all the way. Speaking of which, our O-Line and D-Line could use some beef...we're playing small ball in football too.
  24. I invoke the "wounded tiger theory" and the revenge motive, then subtract the home advantage: UNT 35 FAU 31 Mark it down!
  25. After my previous tongue-in-cheek post, it occurred to me that RF is not totally to blame. Who has mentored him for several years? Who may have helped him form a disdain for fans? Who has been a role model for the rising young coach? Yeah, you're right!!
