  1. The "challenge" here for Olawale as I see it is has he forfeited his position on the squad for good? The Cowboys have an undrafted free agent fullback out of TCU (I think) and McCarthy  likes to use the fullback in his scheme. So, the free agent will get lots of opportunity to play and will be well versed in the offense after this season. Thus, potentially making Olawale expendable.

I do not question his motives nor his stated interest to protect his wife and kids.  That is his personal choice and I am sure he "weighed the potential consequences" of opting out of the season.  Would just hate to see him lose his spot.

The other possibility is that after eight years in the league he is tired of it and ready to move on.  And, this gives him $150,000 as a "severance" that he would not have gotten had he simply "retired".  No clue, I just hate to see a UNT guy not on the field. Will miss seeing him on Sundays.

I wish him nothing but the best going forward.

I guess the thinning of the middle class is not a problem in your vision. Even though the US's main dominance has been a large middle class. But the economic system has morphed into huge amount of wealth being held by a very small percentage. Like in China.

So, nothing to see here folks.

Nope.  Not the "system's" fault.  Correct...nothing to see here folks.  Unless, of course, you need another participation trophy.

Because this would be a profitable minor league

Maybe...maybe not. NFL Europe wasn’t profitable for the NFL. And, none of the recent versions of “pro” ball spinoffs have been profitable or lasted any time at all. NFL owners are too smart to give up the golden goose that is college football today to toss a bunch...a bunch...of cash into a “B” league that could even have a remote chance of being profitable. Jerry Jones is not in the habit of backing money losing propositions. Especially when he gets all he wants from a “developmental” league now for free called the NCAA. Just doesn’t make financial sense to me.

I like MCMLXXX's idea of a NFL minor league.  Then, I could ignore another NFL related product.

Why would the NFL spend money on this when they have a free minor league in the NCAA? The owners are not that financially challenged and probably did not get in the financial position to buy an NFL franchise by making financially stupid decisions.

  5. Fingers crossed this is something we need to "worry" about...right now I am worrying if there will be college football as conferences and universities keep opting out of the season entirely, move their seasons to the spring or simply cancel entirely. Fingers crossed as it would be a VERY long fall without college football.

He is a talented player and I hope he does well in Germany and makes his way to the NBA one day.  I loved watching him play but Hamlet was no down graded at the position.

Hamlet, before he graduates, could make a lot of us forget about Woolridge's time at UNT.  Hamlet has learned to play solid defense under Coach Hodge and Coach McCasland to go along with his offensive output which will give Hamlet a great shot of furthering his playing career after he graduates.  I enjoyed watching Ryan play and wished he would have stayed at UNT, but if his leaving meant we got Hamlet as a replacement, I am more than good with that exchange.

He. Voluntarily. Left. Here. To. Go. To. Gonzaga. Because. They. Are. Elite.

JFC you are dense. Try opening your eyes for once in your life and considering how other people see the world. Benford destroyed this program and a CBI championship isn’t going to change that perception.
I am damn proud of my university. I have two degrees from UNT and worked there as well. I have had season tickets for more than a decade without the ability to attend games because of my government service. I don’t think I (or anyone else) needs to justify their loyalty, but most us understand reality.

JFC..if you are proud of it act like it. FYI..Benford has been gone several years and our program is back under some great coaching leadership. You seem to forget that UNT won the conference championship just this last year along with that CBI championship you seem to disregard as second or third rate. Then you announce that you wouldn’t list you alma mater on your playing resume if you we’re Woolridge. So, JFC, have some pride. Open your eyes and see what is currently happening under Coach Mac and Company. I may be “dense”, but I am always on the side of my Alma Mater..unlike you it seems if you have a chance to list some other university you seems to think is better on your resume. Sure...like I said..imagine having some loyalty to your alma mater. Imagine that, huh? And, by the way, get you head out of the sand..the comments were directed primarily at someone who would “hide” UNT on the resume to highlight some one-year university that you see as “better” than UNT for resume purposes. Imagine having pride in your University..yep...imagine that????

And, don’t go off on me bucko...you were the one suggesting he list Gonzaga as his university as it would be better than listing UNT...you with two degrees from UNT. Big friggin’ deal...join the very big crowd.

Ahhhh, the ability to be able to think objectively.

I would love to see him do well and be listed as from UNT, but in the college basketball world, Gonzaga is near royalty at this point. Objectively speaking, it would probably not be surprising to see him list Gonzaga - in addition to it being his final school.

Ahhhh...the ability to be proud of your university.

I am so jealous that I didn't get some applause for my well thought out approach to wanting to get back to school, but always having the respect for the teachers at risk ... and my willingness to go whatever I can to do the best approach for the whole school community.

I guess I should have just had a selfish reply about how *I* am not afraid for *my* kids -- and to hell with others.

You seem to be totally clueless..you do realize that the guy who posted that is a public school teacher, right? I am thinking he knows just a tad more than you about the situation. I have a ton of respect for him. You..well, you might be just a tad too woke for me.
