  1. thank you CBL for calling me a cutie. that made me blush haha. guys i understand the argument about getting caught in the excitement of the game. this is really not about fans rushing the court for me. this is about expectations. i am an Aggie fan. yes, shoot me. I sat there for years watching the Aggies blindly support RC Slocum as the program fell into something that seemed like college football but it wasn't really. they were elated by wins over schools like OK State but didn't expect to play with schools like Texas and OU. A&M was a team that had won the Big 12 conference just a few years before but their fans just started accepting the small stuff. are we A&M? heck no do we have fans that will blindly follow us, win our lose? HELL no There is a correlation though between what happened there and what CAN happen here with our basketball program. dont get content and confuse a mole hill for a mountain. instead of being pissed and calling for RC's head when they got drilled by OU, they came to expect it. I just don't want that to happen with our basketball program and unfortunately being too elated over a win against Tech can start a slippery slope
  2. guys i am not sure why anyone is trying to argue that rushing the court made us look anything less than desperate. this is a joke. we are talking about a team that has won their conference twice in the last few years and advanced to an NCAA tournament. this is a coach that has NEVER lost to a Big 12 school at home. i would make fun of us too if I was a Tech fan. Tech's basketball program sucks right now. yeah, they made it to the Sweet 16 a few years ago but lately it has been all downhill. i am not in any way, shape or form taking away from the fact that this was a nice win but I am taking away from the overly emotional reaction we showed by winning this game. maybe part of the problem around good ol U of NT is our expectations. instead of rushing the court when we beat the 5th best team in a 6 team Big 12 South at home, maybe we should be asking why Tech was in this game to begin with? i hope the team wasn't as excited about this win as our fans were or we aren't going anywhere this year and i would bet money that Johnny Jones is not exactly thrilled with the game last night we rushed the court at a game that couldn't even make the local news. don't try to spin it. it was stupid
  3. yes we had 5 turnovers. yes we had a blocked field goal. yes we had a big interception. BUT how many times can we say this and not start thinking.... there is kinda a trend here. HOW COULD THIS TEAM POSSIBLY BE SO FLAT IN THE FIRST HALF? we have lost, 11 SBC games in a row and we come completely unfocsed. yes a blocked field goals, turnovers and PENALTIES mean there is a severe lack of focus. i give Dodge credit in the second half because he did adjust well, at half time BUT remember this... we are down 9 and there is around 8 minutes on the clock, we make a big play on defense, looks like we are going to hold them and get the ball back and WHAT HAPPENS? WE GET AN UNSPORTSMANLIKE PENALTY AND THEY SCORE ON THE NEXT PLAY. crap like that is coachable and falls back squarely on the head coach because it happens time and time again
  4. let me first say that I have long been a fan of Dodge's and I have argued over and over again that he should be given at least this year to prove himself. however... there are a couple of things about his coaching that really has me concerned about his future as a college football coach. 1) Discipline. For all of the character guys that we recruit, we are the most undisciplined group of damn guys I have ever seen. Penalties. Late Hits. Taunting. I just don't get it. When you have this many discipline issues, it reflects on your head coach. 2) In game play calling. He doesn't adjust on the field. He didn't against Ohio and he didn't tonight. He had a game plan to throw the ball and to our dismay, he completely went away from the run game in the first half. When nothing was going our way, we did absolutely nothing to try and slow the game down.
  5. i say about 18k. i was absolutely sick after the Ohio lost and I still think that we are going to fill the effects of it. we have 25k easily if we beat them but after dropping a game to them and then getting absolutely embarassed against Alabama, it erased a lot of the positive tones that we had after beating Ball State. it's going to be a great day but there is no where near the level of excitement that there was. i guess that is what happens when you get 3 points after being on the 1 yard line twice in the game and not being able to stop a 4th and 16 but I digress...
  6. i was very very proud of our students and their committment to this team. soemthing special is on the verge of happening around here. Dont lose the point of this thread though. it has nothing to do with that. this has to do with representing our university with class and no i completely disagree, just because they stood in the rain and support this team DOES NOT mean that they can say or do whatever they want to.
  7. oh yes i forgot about this worn out line... let's blame it on the "frat" guys. how pitiful. i was sitting over there the whole time and you know and I know both that it wasn't just two groups of "frat guys". it was a several groups of different students. yeah i definitely saw some "frat" guys doing it but i saw several other groups yelling obscene stuff. give that worn out excuse a rest.
  8. i am a bag of mixed emotions right now haha! on one hand, i am absolutely astonished by the amount of improvement that we have seen from one season to the next. our kids are competing out there and they are playing with some fire. if you would have told me three weeks ago that i would be upset after us starting the season 1-1, i would have thought you were crazy for telling me we were going to win one of the first 2 games. however, how can you not take a look at this game and not be worried about some things. there were so many opportunities. Ohio did nothing short of give us the game and we just did not take advantage of it. i think if you don't score inside the 5 every once in a while, you are frustrated but fella's, when you have been inside the 5 yard line, 3 different times in 2 games and only come away with 1 field goal... i think it is safe to say that we have a play calling problem inside the 5. we will only get better though and here's to hoping for a 8 win season. oh and by the way because it hasn't been mentioned.... i would like to have another look at that "non-safety" in the first half....
  9. well and i wanted to make a point here too. i think a lot of times there can be an overreaction to events like this. sometimes there is one bad culprit and so the whole group gets blamed. i wish this was the case. THIS WASN'T JUST ONE GROUP OF STUDENTS. i heard several different groups througout the student section. they were yelling for Riley when he was obviously hurt. they were telling Ohio players to get off their fat a** and telling them what they wanted to do to their mothers.... it was just absolutely disgusting. i will be contacting Bonita Jacobs office on Monday via email and tell her that school officials need to be present on the student side during games. i was absolutely embarassed tonight
  10. i am not trying to sound like the "old guy" here because the good lord know that i have made my share of stupid decisions. HOWEVER, tonight i sat on the student side and let me say that I have been to games at OU, Texas, A&M, Notre Dame, Cotton Bowl, etc... and I have NEVER heard more foul language coming from a group of fans in my life. I can handle some cussing and I have been know to do it myself but what was being said on our student side was not only foul but it was embarassing for our whole university. it wasn't a bunch of kids yelling "damn". it was our students yelling "f*** you Ohio" while one of their players lay in the middle of the field injured. i hope that none of you were subjected to it and I implore you, if you have children at the game, DO NOT take them to the student side. I will have to say though, they embarassed the alumni with the amount of students that came out tonight!
  11. not sure which "frat" you are in but mine already has the grill pulled out and getting set up. be careful how many of these post you start because eventually people will start to think you are wishing for this. i don't think that 5 people telling you something is a very good sample of what a 30,000 student body is doing this weekend. which begs the question, how the heck would they know anyway?
  12. i would really like to see how many season tickets were sold between last Friday morning and this friday afternoon. i have had 3 different friends contact me this week and ask me if I knew the ticket office number because they were going to go purchase season tickets. Between the HUGE strides on the field and the amazing atmosphere around the games, I think we will see 25k at Fouts on Saturday night
  13. 2012- So exactly how bad Riley beat you in high school? oh and by the way, Tre Newton was not the best back in the state and they sure didn't have the best receivers in the state. really though, how bad did they beat you?
  14. i am a believer in Todd Dodge and I am definitely one of the folks who have made the argument to give him more time. he's only been here 2 years, only had 1 true recruiting class, has left over DD players... blah blah blah. i think it is legit for the results on the field to say that. what is going on inside this program though? when a host of players depart because passing a drug test seems to be as difficult as passing a Math class that is one thing but when you have your starting QB leave and then the head coach says that he had no idea he was thinking about it... that is completely different. regardless if this pans out or not, Gio is not our QB anymore. let's get behind Riley.
  15. well judging by the financial support that our athletic department receives from it's alumni... i don't think that your $500 fund is really going to help us out to much. i would suggest keeping it.
