  1. Dickey is just setting up LSU for the kill. We're going after that one, big OOC victory that will put us over the top.
  2. We won't be working in that direction anytime soon. Smash mouth football with undersized linemen is almost an oxymoron.
  3. Absolutely! But there sure wasn't much of a crowd at the game last night. I really feel sorry for Tulane, actually hoping they could win against UTEP.
  4. Again, on both sides of the ball, FIU has the size advantage.
  5. From Tulane to Louisiana? You've got to be kidding!
  6. Art Briles left Stephenville for Texas Tech for an Asst Coaching position. I think he was there 2-3 years before moving on th Houston. For the record, I think Houston got a fine coach. His son, a standout QB for Stephenville, signed with Texas but transferred to Houston.
  7. All you have to do is look at the picture. Look at Mendoza. He should have laid the lumber to that Troy running back, knocking the shit out of him! Looks like he's just tip-toeing up as the Rb is going down.
  8. So at what point in time did Darrell Dickey steal Jerry Moore's play book?
  9. Dickey is responsible for this happening. Maybe they were embarrassed at yet another poor showing and another loss, but you do not turn your backs on the fans. Dickey has just slipped another notch in my book for allowing this to happen.
  10. Because NT's fans are paltry and non-supportive financially. Start selling 10,000 season tickets each year, regardless of our W/L record, get 1000 members in the Mean Green club and you will be able to pay your coaches better wages. Some of our better coaches should never have left NT for lateral positions.
  11. The sad fact is, WE are now a lowly Sun Belt team. And although I believe we have benefitted somewhat from our four conference championships and bowl appearances, we still do not sign enought quality recruits to take us to the next level. I'm no coach, but if you are going play smash mouth football with a running game then your offensive line better be D1A size and depth. And for the record, I'm off on this "stealth recruiting" philosophy. Yes, we can land a few nice recruits each year, but gosh, look at the busts and grade casualties we've had.
  12. With hurricane Rita problems the past two weeks, I haven't had a chance to view the Troy game. Reading some of the posts it sounds like the defensive line is a little pourous and our pass rush is nile. If this is correct, can someone tell me if Adam Venegas has been used on the defensive side of the ball. Someone on the board suggested Venegas be used on defense since he had very good credentials in high school on the D side. If he has not been used, can someone tell me why the coaching staff has not tried Venegas on the D. Is Venegas just another total bust.
  13. Why do we even look at so many undersized offensive linemen? 6-0,235 lb I mean, c'mon. Maybe we'll move him to a lineback position or running back.
  14. From what I saw at the Tulsa game, you may be correct.
  15. I can label this the trip from hell. It took me 18 freakin' hours to travel from roughly Port Arthur to College Station. Two loaves of bread, two cases of water, peanut butter and jelly, I was set for this all important trip. What a nightmare. No stops, no pee breaks, just me, the highway, and 2,500,000 traveling nuts. Thank goodness for my new UNT coffee mug. It's a legend now! I'm not too sure how my home and business will fair after Rita comes on shore. I am really expecting the worst case scenerio. No sympathy needed here, but we could lose everything. Wonder of the UNT athletic department needs another marketing guy? But hey, I saved 10% on my insurance by switching to Geico!
  16. Time to go as they are calling for a mandatory evacuation of Beaumont/Port Arthur. It's a beautiful morning. DeepGreen out.
  17. I wouldn't worry about Denton. You guys get higher winds off the Oklahoma flatlands in March and April. BTW, unless stan from Galveston has a better site for Rita's path, here is a very good site from the U.S. Navy. http://www.nlmoc.navy.mil/home1.html On the left side, click on Carribian. That will show you the forecast map. The Navy was right on for where Katrina made landfall.
  18. Thanks for reminding me.
  19. Where were the Sun Belt graphics on the new turf? Wasn't their absence a little strange? Regardless, the new turf sure looked great.
  20. My sentiments SilverEagle. One would think that after four NO Bowl appearances, including one win, that our recruiting would be such that all we have to do is reload from year to year. To me, the Tulsa game and the soon to be played Louisiana Tech, would be the gauge that we could use to measure where our program was. I'm pretty disappointed at the complete distruction of the Mean Green by a decent Tulsa squad. I know I'm repeating what others have said, but with the nice crowd we had, a win or a more competitive game would have done wonders for us. We failed. No, we failed misurably. I'm pretty disgusted with the thought of possibly not winning any OOC games this year, the winning then possibly conference. I'll open a can of worms here, but maybe we should have taken the WAC invite. From strictly a football and basketball standpoint, I'm questioning the Sun Belt all over again.
  21. I'm with you. If our only goal in life is to continue to win the 'Belt, only to lose the NO bowl and just about every winnable OOC game we play, then we have no real ambition to better ourselves for a better conference.
  22. SilverEagle, I'm the poster who put the dog picture up to "stir it up" with Tulsa a bit. Almost 2,200 posts and I should be banned from the board for one post? If the moderator or someone else found it offensive and in bad taste, they made the decision already. I'm O.K. with that. But to be banned? How silly. Besides, I've seen much worse pictures posted here. And have you visited other boards from Big 12, SEC schools, etc.? Really bad stuff. To the Tulsa fans, I apologize. My bad.
