I wonder if many posters even know what the votes they bestow even mean.  I think many are reacting to the event not the post.  Why would anyone give a negative vote to Glory to the Green for this post?

NT was robbed on this play, let's give a barfing eagle icon to the poster.

    Bno backup for my POV?

We lost all of our offensive production. What proven production has that been replaced with? Answer: not much.

We lost our best safety on a terrible defense and have brought in minimal additions to bolster the product.

SL needed to go. All I'm saying is that Eric Morris won't be the person to take SLs success and build on it. That picture is getting pretty clear.

As for who I would have brought in....terrible rebuttal. Poor UNT. We just can't be good enough for anything or anyone.

But to play into your question: Ken Niumatalolo.

Absolutely nothing is clear about the success of Morris at NT at this point.

My terrible rebuttal certainly did not state or imply that "We just can't be good enough for anything or anyone".  What are you even attempting to state?

With NIL, what does good recruiting even mean?  Is the evaluation based on how much NIL was available to buy players or the bang for the buck that was received for NIL dollars invested.

You stated that NT lost all their production, do you expect any coach to be able to keep players that can make a lot more money elsewhere?

So, if I may, what do you think will spring from THIS season that we haven't seen?

I have my answer: Decrease in offensive production + Similar defensive output = another poor year. If you don't think that will happen, that is fine. And I hope you're right. But I would like to know what variable(s) you would like uncover that I am unaware of? All things point to a declining football program.

Did not see any attempt of an answer to who would you have pursued as a HC.

It may be your opinion that NT will decline on offense and fail to improve on defense but you offer no backup for your POV.  Morris did improve the offense although that was a lot less an achievement than the challenge on the defensive side.

I am not sure if you are aware of anymore than I am relative to next year's NT football season.

Other than a horrible start against Cal and FIU, I think last year was a step in the right direction for NT's program.   Closed the season with two wins, and with the exception of against a very good SMU team, the games were close.

The most positive variable IMO is that NT replaced .500 Littrell.   Morris may not be the answer but his hiring is at least a change that might work.

We made the trek out to Ft Worth from Plano for the game.   A few thoughts:

    • Not my first trip to the arena, but Dickies is a very nice midsized arena.
    • I know we weren't supposed to like The Star, but even with the upper levels curtained off, Dickies feels cavernous with no people in it. Takes away the energy in a bit, even more than an empty Super Pit.
    • This Mean Green Women's BB team attempts to play a fast-paced offense that we haven't seen in years of watching Mens BBall with Hodge and Mac before that.
    • The Mean Green Women's fast-paced offense sometimes feels totally out of control. I am not a BBall savant, but their ball-handling skills cannot keep up with the pace of the offense they are attempting to play.
    • The Rice defense appeared to shut down our offense at times, especially when we made sloppy passes through traffic in the middle that lacked power.
    • It was clear who could sink 3s from the Rice team. I think it was #11 and #3 (I might have the second number wrong; I think she was a blondish white girl). We frequently left them open at the top of the arc, and they frequently scored from those positions.
    • When the pace seems to get out of control, Burton needs to call a Timeout. There were a few times when we were perfectly fine letting the whole game get fast and sideways, but a simple timeout would have brought the pace to zero and given us time to reset. Burton gives Littrell vibes in this regard. You don't get extra points for saving your timeouts or having so many at the end that you just call them one after another in the final seconds.
    • I feel for the women's team and understand the gravity of a 3-way tie winning the regular season and looking like you're going to go out in the first game in the Conf Tourney. Still, you GOTTA pull it together in the clutch final seconds of a winnable basketball game.  Burton needs to find a way to bring the mental fortitude of the team up for next season.

Great job, Women's team. I say that sincerely, and I also acknowledge and apologize for how easy it is for all of us to be Monday Morning Quarterbacks. I'm excited for the years ahead!

Regroup, improve, mature, and recruit great in the offseason, and we will only see greater successes next season.

Good thoughts, I too have really gotten in to WBB this year because of these coaches and the ladies.

However, that only adds to the disappointment in this game.   Turnover, turnover, turnover, missed free throw, turnover, missed free throw.

Add bad defense and Rice looked like world beaters.

The physical effort was there for the most part for the Mean Green.  However, they looked like the mental effort was missing.   Bad quick shots, poor defense and rebounding, it looks like they were more interesting in who scored than winning a game in which they were heavily favored in.

It was one year. That is my issue. He didn’t sustain his success and became a bench player.

The point is that in that one year he accomplished more than most college players ever do.

You seem to have missed the main point, relative to jersey hanging in the court;  You picked out one of a list that you disagree that does not deserve that honor more than Jones.  It seems you agree with the main idea that there are many NT basketball players that had better careers than Rubin.

  6. This team was not ready to play and that is on the coach.

I can understand the emotions, this team has played well most of the season and is beaten by a weak team in the game that counted the most.

Look at the positive, this team was not going anywhere in the big Dance, and now they will end up in a tournament they have a much better chance for wins.

Rubin will leave North Texas with a NCAA tournament win, 2 conference titles, NIT title, and most program wins all time. And could/probably will add to that. That deserves to be recognized. Tylor only being here 2 years makes it a tough call for me.

Rubin again is a great NT player and certainly deserves recognition.   However, I can easily name twenty past NT players who I would put ahead of him for displaying his jersey in the SPit.

It takes more than longevity, do you really think he deserves it more than: Hamlin, Perry, Joe Hamilton, Leroy Winfield, Tristan Thompson, Josh White, Roosevelt Smart, Kenneth Williams, Willie Davis, Fred Mitchell, etc. etc.

  8. Don't think East Carolina was close to as good as their record indicated.

However, NT really took a big step upward with this series.

If Savage continues close to this pitching level, I really like NT chances in the AAC.  I keep waiting for her to start her usual walking batters tendency, but it did not happen.

It seemed like every NT hitter was a threat, something that hasn't happen often.

I don’t think he called either pathetic. Now, if they didn’t properly test it to learn how to use it and to work out any issues with the equipment, then the failure is one then.

If the cannon does not work; it is my guess that it has to be either the equipment or the operators.   Pathetic in my view, is just too strong a word to use for something so trivial.

Not really calling the sponsor pathetic, but if you get a F on an exam, would you characterize your effort as pathetic? I would.

I have no idea what getting a F as a grade as to do with topic.    There is a big difference in effort and success.  There are plenty of examples of people striving for an objective that is never met.  That effort could be heroic, not close to pathetic.

    Seems about right.

Thinking Morris may have been a dud hire. Can't keep players. Can't keep coaches. Can't lure players. However, he keeps coaches that don't perform. And then does nothing to bolster their underperformance. Frankly, I don't see how we are 10.

Great take after one year and a late start on first year recruiting.

I think I will hold the coach damnation until I see one more season.

By the way who was your choice for the job that NT had any chance of hiring?

  12. The NCAA should be concentrating on the fairness of competition more and the individual players rights a lot less. From what I have read, even the perieniall powers' athletic staffs don't like NIL. Why should they, it is just a headache for all involved except the players and their agents.

The NCAA should immediately ban future NIL agreements.  Any player who receives NIL is considered a pro and no longer eligible for NCAA contests.  Or would no longer be eligible for scholarship benefits and would have to pay for college tuition and fees plus room and board.

Sure there will be lawsuits and with the current environment a strong chance that NIL would stay, but at least the NCAA will have taken a stand.

This whole thing is based on the theory that college sports is a big business and the fallacy that most schools make a profit from sports.  A theory that is easy to disprove.

Rubin will undoubtedly have his jersey in the rafters one day.

Rubin is a very good player, but nowhere near the level to have a jersey in the rafters.  IMO you would have to have multiple all conference first team honors or be a player with national accolades

I don't remember who currently has that honor, I know it was only Mitchell and Reedes for a long time.

Who should be there IMO, Mitchell, Joe Hamilton, Kenneth Lyons, and Tyler Perry

  14. Why is NT scheduling tennis games against community or juco colleges?

Probably due to new coach not having time to get the kind of schedule she wants, but I think it is a bad look for NT.

On this year's schedule, Collin County, Crowley County, and Tyler jr. College

These jucos maybe great competition, but beating these teams is certainly not going to help the image of the program or recruiting.

I know both Rubin and CJ are out and have been out for a while, but I fear we may be out of gas by the time the conference tournament comes.
I agree with Andrew that some of the bench guys just need to pick up a couple of minutes here and there to give others a breather. That would eventually add up towards the end of the season.

It is amazing how many of us think we can make better basketball decisions than the coaching staff.

This is obviously not a deep team and with two starters out, the results should be obvious.   The game announcer stated this multiple times and they were proved right.  NT runs out of steam at the end of games, but I highly doubt Hodges is such a bad coach that he has the answer setting on the bench.
