  1. The real story was UTSA’s inability to play smart ball and close this game out. They are who they are for a reason.
  2. If this program’s records the past 5 seasons weren’t… 31-7, 25-7, 18-10, 20-11, 21-12 with conference titles, an NIT title, and an NCAA tournament win sprinkled in…then I would be on YOUR side There is ZERO excuse for attendance less than 5k a game
  3. Just a question, is it really “breaking news” when it’s nothing more than a tease with no pay off??
  4. First, you are not wrong about the students…the VAST majority of our student body lives within 45 minutes of campus. But I would ask you to consider a few things. 1) Our students are not “normal”. I have long felt that being a school where the main majors are music, elementary ed, and other VERY liberal arts isn’t a recipe for having a bunch of sports fans. Hell, we even have a recruiting commercial for the University where the theme is “we’re not normal.” 2) With the success this team has had, the portions of the pit that aren’t student sections are even more conspicuously empty. Where were the promotions to celebrate the first ever AAC game at the pit? Why haven’t I heard of a “pack the pit” night on January 25th yet…SMU is coming to our house and there should be NO trouble selling why we need a hostile atmosphere. Somehow, some way, we need to make the pit more than a great place to quietly enjoy your nachos.
  5. Obviously Edwards’ 37 points was the main story, but a couple other tidbits of note. - Aaron Scott had a double-double, the only one in the game - Robert Allen led the team in assists - Tulane’s Kevin Cross averages 16.8 a game…and had 9 today
  6. I expect to see this tweeted by Vito by the end of the night 😁
  7. And we’re not bad on the road either
  8. I’ve always been told 7 is deep enough
  9. Walking in from the parking lot today I heard two older men talking and one of them said, “I like North Texas games, it’s never loud in there.” I wanted to throw up 🤮
  10. I just heard the single dumbest argument ever for NIL as it stands while watching College Game Day. The prospect of requiring players to compete in bowl games as part of their NIL agreement was brought up, and one of the talking heads said “but the NIL isn’t associated with the school!” So, let me get this straight. If I offered a kid who happens to play football free meals or a rent free house, that was called an “impermissible benefit” 2 years ago because I am a “booster”, though I am not employed by the school. But, if I now offer a kid a check for 50k to sign with my university I’m just a “NIL collective” and no association with the school is implied???
  11. NIL is pay-for-play, and anyone who denies this is either not too bright or being disingenuous. Texas doesn’t offer 100k to EVERY o-lineman recruit a year ago because they’re actually utilizing their name, image, or likeness. Kids aren’t signing with SMU because they think “yeah, the culture of this place fits me.” Kids are earning a salary and the NCAA is expecting people to believe it is anything but what it is.
  12. I’m more worried for your mental wellbeing, if they’re not around you can’t be their #1 apologist on here
  13. Well, it was one of the members of the SMU radio broadcast team, soooo
  14. One of the comments specifically made by the radio commentators during SMU’s game is that they are one of the few teams where players DID NOT opt out of the bowl game…so, they took that ass whoopin’ straight up
  15. You could have ended the sentence “Trading SMU for…” with literally anything and you would make a strong argument for increasing interest in the AAC
  16. In all fairness, if this game were played next year as a conference game they would at least be getting a bunch of ACC revenue. Oh, wait...
