  1. Brilliant retort. Aside from casting aside the point of what I was saying, and instead choosing to concentrate on an analogy, you were spot on in your analysis. Oh, and also discounting the fact that I came right out and said "I know NT is not a corporation" you pretty much, in a roundabout way, not really, replied to the original post. And as to the idea of "investors" we will have few if any under the current state of things.
  2. Can you imagine what it would be like if every business had the fan 'loyalty' that some on this board expect? McDonald's starts serving uncooked burgers and publicly bashing their customers and the proper response would be? Oh yes, continue to buy extra value meals and NEVER threaten to be "done" going to McDonald's because that would only show you to be a quitter. Hilton Hotels leaves dirty sheets on all of the beds? Hey, just think of all the clean comfy rooms that Hilton provided several years ago. Can't read this post because your internet provider keeps screwing up your connection? Don't you dare do anything to voice displeasure because that would only make the employees of these companies sad. Look, I know that NT is not a corporation but the same principles apply. NT athletics asks us every year to pony up our time, our money and our passion. Yes, we are all alumni or have close ties to the school. But how do we serve our university by continuing to put our full efforts into a losing program? Anyone ever heard of a thing called 'tacit consent?' Wanna knock me, or others, for saying we're 'done'? Then get a little perspective before you cast aspersions. What does it take to make someone who lives and breathes NT, who has defended this team to everyone from apathetic NT students to the bandwagon jumping lemings statewide walk away? How do you turn someone off to NT football when their entire social calendar for the year revolves around it? Oh yeah, you run a boring, abrasive to potential fans, floundering program. Show in your speech in actions that you couldn't care less about selling this team because the 'us against them' mentality is your only motivational tactic. And if you want to knock people like me who say we're bowing out (though admittedly I probably couldn't keep myself away if I tried) make sure you take into account the THOUSANDS of fans who won't be lining up to replace us because the product is so badly mismanaged and sold. Grow accustomed to 17,000 being a generous estimate for attendance for the next decade and beyond because there is not a salesman in the world who could entice people who don't have a vested interest in this program to jump on board. And as to this notion that it is our job as fans to just show up, support the team, and keep our mouths shut...are you f'ing kidding?! What message is sent to RV, the coaching staff and the general public? North Texas wins...fans are happy. North Texas loses (in embarrasing fashion)...fans put on a happy face. To the casual observer you would like for there to be no difference in demeanor or speech between a happy fanbase and a disillusioned one? Brilliant! I just can't wait to check into a Hilton hotel...maybe when I go to the N.O. Bowl to wach someone other than NT.
  3. Yes, USC losing today make my day just freakin perfect. Now UT is one step closer to defending their national title. Come on SEC!!! And Big East!!!
  4. I agree about the O-line but the problems go SO MUCH deeper. Can anyone answer "yes" to a single one of these questions? 1)Are we a disciplined team? 2)Do we call "smart" plays on offense? Plays that counter what the defense is showing? 3)Would we be even as successful as we are if not for the miraculous plays of our star players? Do they have to use their talents in spite of the coaching instead of in conjunction with it? 4)With the horrible product that is on the field are our coaches doing their best to be good-will ambassadors of the program? 5)With what is being put out there can you expect season ticket sales or MGC donations to go up? 6)Can you expect a donor/donors to come forward with money for MUCH NEEDED facilities? Let me answer for you....NO!!!! to every question.
  5. This isn't one of those "I'm done with NT football...wait, I'm back" posts...I am seriously done unless Dickey is gone at year's end. This is the worst coached, worst disciplined football team in the country bar fucking none!!!! We can't get out of our own way long enough to sniff succeeding. We can't get plays in without taking timeouts! If we DO manage to get into enemy territory we run plays that go freakin backwards! The only way we manage any yardage is by sacrificing the bodies of our best players...how damn sore do Jamario and JQuinn have to be in order for us to gain yardage due to boneheaded pass calls, amazing feats of skill or willpower by them, or RUNNING AGAINST STACKED FRONTS? I don't care if we win every game the rest of the year (we won't) this house had better be cleaned by year's end!!!! Otherwise count me out and you may as well forget about building a fanbase because NOBODY will jump on a bandwagon that broke down and in flames.
  6. Now I KNOW this thread is bogus. All we need now is a prediction out of left field that RV will be fired tomorrow.
  7. I don't need to quote sources or even make sense, I just know it. Here are my reasons: 1)No hurricane has hit Denton yet 2)My nose itches 3)Cuz I said so...
  8. TSU fans are smart to stay out of the trash talking game. They don't need to say a word. Come Saturday our offense will be the joke and the defense will be the punch line.
  9. This is awesome. I'll never have to write another internal affairs letter in my career. I can sum up my response to every complaint with "There's no way that was police brutality, unprofessional service, derelection of duty, etc because these citizens have never been police officers. They don't know what they're talking about."
  10. Are we REALLY having this discussion? Waste Tune's redshirt so that we can "see what we have"? Usually I take people who are thinking like this to jail because they have either crack or meth in their back pocket. We have NO IDEA what we have at the QB position, at least not with Woody or Phillips. No quarterback can show what he is capable of when he is both handcuffed by the playbook and running for his life on every down. Saying you can honestly evaluate what a quarterback hs under these circumstances is like saying you can judge a wide receiver when you allow pass interference on every play. He has NO chance.
  11. I see people time and again pose the question "What happened to the team that beat SMU?" or the revision of the same "How did we beat SMU if we are this bad?" Folks, we are that bad. What you saw against SMU was a team, from DD and RF down to the Diet Coke boy that had SMU circled on their calendars. They worked on SMU gameplanning all Spring and Fall. They knew that to our fan base SMU was the super bowl. When else , ever, have you seen the UNT bookstore with t-shirts advertising a football game 2 months BEFORE the season starts? So, let's all collectively back away from the notion that if this team was able to beat SMU they should have a shot against everyone else. They don't. Our coaching staff lacks both the months to prepare and the desire to beat anyone else. Playing Woody Wilson against SMU was a calculated move, true enough, but let's also not proclaim it a brilliant one. SMU had never seen him play and, true enough, we left some doubt as to what they would face at the QB position. It would have been a brilliant move had it been followed with ANY attempt to show a new wrinkle to the rest of the teams on our schedule. Then it would look like a pattern of innovation and not just a one time fortunate turn of events.
  12. 1)Offense 2)Defense 3)Special Teams That should fix it.
  13. I think saving your timeouts until later in the half is the kind of stuff wussies do. I'm so glad we use ours on our FIRST drive.
  14. If anyone has those vouchers for tickets to the La Tech game that the athletic department sent out and doesn't plan to use them I could use a couple.
  15. Horrible clock management by Schnelly and his team on the last drive. They ran when it was obvious a pass was the better option....wait, where have I seen that? And a delay of game for snapping before they were ready for play? And yet, because this is the belt, they only lose 6-0. It's scary that we really could run the table in this conference.
  16. Exactly! Or, he may be crying because he had a bet with his friends that if Texas won he had to go to UT.
  17. Good call on the ULL receiver who continued to run after being thrown for a cartwheel.
