  1. Thank you, I forgot about him. The larger point still stands.
  2. To Seth's credit, he did what every North Texas coach has tried to do, but no one has been able to do since Hayden Fry--get offered a head coaching gig at a major conference program. And to his further credit, he turned it down due to loyalty. Certainly loyalty to the coaches on his staff, in that he demanded KSU hire them all. And I believe part of it was loyalty to North Texas, who had given him his first opportunity as a head coach.
  3. In other words, he moved on so they moved on.
  4. Assuming there aren't issues between him and others on the team, the coaching staff would be crazy not to want him back. He demands so much attention as a deep threat that he opens opportunities for others all over the field.
  5. It varies from year to year. I would think that over the past 15 years, the SEC has easily been the best conference, at least at the top. I've heard the pundits generally say the PAC 12 is the best this year.
  6. Really, a playoff system based primarily on opinions is a pretty crappy system.
  7. Nah, Texas was ahead of Alabama anyway. They were going to get in. But the committee did not want to leave the playoff without an SEC team.
  8. I guess that means Oregon State and Washington State will be independent next year, for all intents and purposes. In all sports. No conference titles to compete for or win. What a strange state of existence.
  9. Seven at-large spots in the playoff is way too many. An 8-team playoff with the top 7 conference champs plus one at-large would be far better.
  10. A good QB, maybe. But the odds of having another QB on Rogers' level are very, very low.
  11. In fairness, if he needs another semester to graduate, he can't indicate otherwise yet. I sure hope he's back.
  12. A couple of years ago, I never would have dreamed of "liking" a post like this. But since the current system has transitioned college football players (or at least many college football players) from student-athletes into paid employees, how can you blame any of them for going where there is more money? Especially since most of them will never play in the NFL--now's the chance to make money with their talents. I hate, hate, hate the system, but I can't blame guys in their late teens and early 20's for jumping at the money they're being offered.
  13. Pretty sure this was the last year of his contract.
  14. I'm not saying it's impossible, but I've never heard of that. Do you have a comparable example in college football?
  15. Please understand, paying coaches' buyouts are not part of the annual budget. I can't tell you specifically how the A.D. came up with the money, but donor money was certainly involved. And I am sure the A.D. has already figured the new T.V. money into the budget and what they're planning to do with it, and I doubt very much if any of that has been allocated to buying out coaches. It certainly seems to me that a 2-year contract for an unproven coordinator (as opposed to, say, a Phil Bennet or John Skladany) is risky. Apparently, Morris thought the risk was worth it and Mosely to some extent signed off on it, so they will have to bear some level of responsibility for it. But if he can figure out a way to win games next year even if we have a crappy defense, his seat will remain cool in 2025.
  16. At the rate the A.D. has been able to gather the necessary funds for the AC building upgrade (or for any of our other planned athletics upgrades, for that matter), what makes you think the school does have the money?
  17. A. Caponi cannot be fired this year as an assistant with one year left on his contract. We don't have the money. B. Morris certainly cannot be fired next year with 3 years left on his contract. We don't have the money.
  18. I should have specified Mean Green hoops. But yeah, he sure looked like an NBA talent. He was a man among boys, pretty much regardless of opponent.
  19. He was the most jaw-dropping player for the Mean Green I personally ever saw.
  20. He could afford to take as little as he wanted this season since we're paying him anyway. As far as a P5 OC gig, he could have one right now if he wanted. But the extra time gives him opportunity to be somewhat selective.
  21. The Elko hire is nothing like the Jimbo hire. The Jimbo hire was the splashiest hire in A&M's history--exactly what you are asking for. There's no splash with the Elko hire, but there is substance. Not sure how you can say I'm "following you" any more than you're following me.
  22. He should have one more year of eligibility with the COVID year. He could probably appeal for an additional year beyond that, with his injury year.
  23. That's why you're sitting behind a keyboard and A&M's AD gets to make the hire. Elko is a solid hire. Maybe not as good as Mark Stoops, but solid.
