Sorry to hear the news. I'll be praying for Alex's family.

Who has invited FSU to join? They have been pretty irrelevant the past decade. The last 2 years have been ok. Where will they end up? Big10? SEC? AAC?
AAC? That's funny.
FSU is still a big enough brand that the SEC would take them. The Big 10's logic is hard to follow, so I have no idea if they'd take them.

Interesting. If you believe SMU’s numbers, they could easily raise $575 million. SMU raised about $100 million in under a week. Yet Florida State, a much bigger football brand, says $572 is too severe a penalty and is suing to reduce the amount. This a a real “get your popcorn ready to watch” moment.
That's a good point for the ACC's attorneys to bring up.

Even if FSU was successful, are you suggesting it's not a better conference than AAC?
It's still a better conference by every metric, at least for now. Only God knows whether it will be better 10 years from now. But I would think even SMU would want to get a good ROI.

He actually backed out of that transfer!
Thanks for the info. I'm surprised I haven't seen any threads on that. Honestly, going back to ACU seemed like a great move for him. But it would be great if he could transfer whatever he showed in fall camp onto the game field.

We still have Stone Earle so it's not like Cash will NEED to be forced into the fire from day 1. I think Morris is a bright enough offensive mind where he can make the offense work with Earle. If Cash beats him out, that just shows he was ready to compete as a freshman! There's also still plenty of time for a transfer QB to make his way here. We need to learn from Aaron Rodgers and R E L A X
Stone Earle transferred to ACU, dude.

Regardless of how well Cash might do here; with our general lack of depth in the QB room, there is no way the coaches do not bring in at least one transfer--JUCO, FCS, FBS, whatever.

I question if the city is giving the stadium away just because they love the university.
I certainly wouldn't say that's the reason. But it's certainly possible that this arrangement is mutually beneficial. I find it hard to believe that this will put them in a worse financial position with regard to their stadium than we are presently in.

Is this a good thing for Memphis? At least they get some cash for upgrades but in future years, this could turn into a financial pit for the university.
According to the statement
Quotethe vote allocates $120 million in state funding to the U of M for upgrades and paves the way for a $50 million gift from FedEx founder Fred Smith.
, it would have to be a good thing for U of M. They already have a paid-for stadium, which puts them in a better financial position than we are.

The simple truth is that this coaching staff needs a big defensive recruiting win to appease the fan base. Morris kept Caponi, and fans are going to remain skeptical of the leadership until they are given a reason to actually believe things are getting fixed. So right now, any defensive recruit that backs out of his commitment is going to be a bad look for our staff. Morris' honeymoon period is over. A large segment of our fans are not interested in hearing what will be done to fix our defense. And many aren't interested in cryptic assumptions regarding what might be going on behind the scenes. They want tangible evidence, like a big-time defensive player committing to the Mean Green.
If this coaching staff is gearing any of their recruiting to "appease the fan base," they all need to be fired. Sign the players that are going to help this team win, regardless of what the armchair QBs think about them.

Newsflash for everyone.
No newsflash for me there, son. I just explained why I don't care about his success at Cal, and you gave me zero reasons why I should.

I hope he continues his success at Cal.
I just don't care whether he does or not. I don't blame him for taking the bucketload of cash that is surely coming his way. But his actions plainly say he doesn't care about North Texas any more than he cared about ULM, so I'm not sure why I should care about him.

Didn't watch it. The last few years, I have had zero interest.
Awards shows in general just never did much for me. Unless a family member, close friend, or UNT player is nominated, my interest is minimal.

LMAO WHY
Because he was setting the world on fire at ACU, and can go rejoin his brothers in arms and pick up where he left off. Not that tough to understand for someone who has ever played football at any level.

Cash is still verballed to us, right? IIRC he gets to Denton this coming semester.
True, but expecting a true freshman to come right in and start at QB is a big ask. We need a solid transfer with the ability to start right away, and if Cash can somehow compete and take that spot, more power to him (and us).

“Massive revenues”?
I want to know what that’s like in Denton.
Which is why it's amusing that a female soccer player is part of this lawsuit. She'll find herself on the wrong end of that I.O.U.

There is one thing I am hanging my hat on as a Mean Green fan: Morris delivered a fantastic offense in his first season. Give me more of that with even an average defense next year and we're looking good Mr. Kotter.
I'm not sure I can hang my hat on that without Chandler Rogers. I think the offense will be *good*, but it's going to be hard to match 3,383 yards (not even starting the whole season!) and 29 TDs against 5 picks.

Zero sympathy. The system was just fine when the Clemson‘s of the world were robbing G5 rosters, but now that the even bigger dogs are coming after your people there’s an issue?
I'm not saying you're wrong; I just don't have much recollection of Clemson being a particular predator of G5s.

Full rebuild seemed to work for Texas State. Going to their first ever bowl game after cleaning house.
I don't know what to think about that team. They were all over the place this year. Giving up 77 points to Arkansas State is pretty awful.
