Just my personal feelings here, but I think that a player who finishes his career at NT could still be a strong contender for HOF if he puts in two HOF-worthy seasons here. Maybe someone who make ridiculous contributions here then transfers elsewhere could be considered; but that would have to be a major strike against him, to say the least.

Honestly I was expecting the university to cover all costs... its not like they need to make money off this, they have busses and drivers, not to mention its good optics for the university to have large student crowd at the games.
Do you really think they'll make money off of this?
I am sure there will be students who would like to go who won't be able to afford to go, and I'm sorry about that. But I would imagine plenty of college students these days spend more than $50 on a day's worth of recreation and amusement.

They need to get out of that high school gym they use for basketball.
Nah. It suits them perfectly.

Just out of curiosity, if given the choice which would you pick? Which would be more in-demand across the country if they hit the market at the same time? I’m not advocating for one or the other, just want to see which you would choose based on their collegiate resume. It is possible GJ Kinne wanted the JMU guy more than Chandler. It is also possible that Chandler Morris would rather attend North Texas than SWTSU-SM.
According to (what should be) an unbiased source, Jordan McCloud is the 115th-ranked transfer (just behind Chandler Rogers), while Chandler Morris is ranked #467: https://www.on3.com/transfer-portal/industry/football/2024/?position=qb
That's not to say there aren't coaches who would take Morris over McCloud, there may well be.

Guessing this is supposed to be a joke.
I think "wite receivers" is supposed to be the tipoff.
If they can play, apply themselves in the classroom, and represent my alma mater well, I don't remotely care how light or dark their skin tone happens to be.

"I wonder what fans are going to say . . ."
Does he not realize that the vast majority of college football fans hate the way things have been going with NIL and virtually unlimited transfers?

With this move, I highly doubt we see Tre Bradford here next season.
Isn't he already enrolled and on campus?

He’s likely gone and we all know that in our heart of hearts.
No, nobody here knows it. It makes a lot of sense, but no one close to the situation has said anything to indicate he is going to TS-SM.

For fun, I'd love to hear about other student-athletes that came through UNT from a coaching family. Coach's sons/daughters.
How many can you name? I'll start with an easy one: Riley Dodge.
There has to be more. @SilverEagle?Jason Mills, Derek (sp?) LeBlanc, Kason Martin
Hopefully Chandler Morris in the fall

Any signings at all or worth mentioning?
Honestly, I have no idea. Things have certainly changed from when we'd be checking gmg.com all morning of signing day to find out who had sent in their LOIs and what surprise signings popped up.

Maybe someone could merge the 5 or so different threads on this into one?

Well deserved for a quality young man. Too bad it has to be in Baltimore.
Recall that his father played for the Redskins. So Zach has roots in that area even before he began what has been a very successful career with the Ravens.

Anybody remember the North Texas head coach that got Zach to come to North Texas? He should get more credit for the talent he left us with.
I don't recall anyone claiming that Todd Dodge wasn't a pretty good recruiter. And he had a few true home runs, as with Zach.

Yep. Already a thread on this.

You're probably remembering the post two spots above yours. ;)

Well, I don't really like the Ravens, either. But they have an established defensive tradition that you have to respect. Evidently, Ravens brass sees Zach as a big enough part of that to make him a bigger part of it.
Congrats to Zach!

It was super cool when Seth Littrell was able to get Stone Cold to do it.
Wasn't that Wren Baker behind that?

I'm torn. I absolutely hate the Packers, but I wouldn't be able to hate them as much if Zach became their DC. I'd only be able to truly hate their offense. :( I guess there's always their fans.

Heck, do you think Riley Dodge regrets backing out of playing WR at Texas to play for his dad here? (God those were awful days)
He was not recruited specifically to play WR at Texas. The staff recruited him first as a QB, with the understanding that he might be moved to another position if that didn't work out, most likely DB as the second option.

What are you talking about? When a player is enrolled, on campus, and on our roster, how is he a "long shot"?
