  1. From Coaching Search -- UTSA: WOAI reports UTSA is prepared to offer a salary in the range of $750,000-$800,000. Former head coach Larry Coker earned $427,150 in 2015.
  2. Looks like it's Jordan Stevenson. 4-star recruit. Was going to Wisconsin (my other alma mater) but was denied admission. He didn't redshirt, so will have 3 years to play http://sports.yahoo.com/bwi/football/recruiting/player-Jordan-Stevenson-141135 This would HUGE!!! In his senior year of high school, Stevenson rushed for 2,511 yards and 31 touchdowns, helping his team to a 10–4 record.
  3. North Texas: Seth Littrell tells CoachingSearch that offensive coordinator Graham Harrell will call offensive plays.
  4. Another FYI - our new offensive coordinator did make $211,500 at Washington State this past year - so it looks like we are definitely uping the game on assistant coaches salaries.
  5. Here are his salaries. 6. Apparently he has left UGA to accept a DC position somewhere. Looks like he and Coach Littrell coached at Indiana together during the 12-13 year. Would be a huge pick up!! http://www.georgiadogs.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/mike_ekeler_885053.html https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2012_Indiana_Hoosiers_football_team Mike Ekeler, linebackers coach at Southern Cal in 2013, was named Inside Linebackers Coach at Georgia on Feb. 6, 2014. He also coordinates the defensive special teams. Ekeler had previously served as linebackers coach and co-defensive coordinator at Indiana (2011-12). A native of David City, Nebraska, he had served as linebackers coach at Nebraska for three seasons (2008-10) under head coach Bo Pelini. During his three years in Lincoln, the Cornhuskers won or shared the Big 12 Conference North Division title all three seasons.
  7. Just my two scents on whomever is hired ... More than anything, whomever is hired, I am excited to have a coach who is actually relevant nationally. Can anyone tell me when we had a coach whose teams were on national tv every weekend? Whose teams were ranked? Whose teams will be playing in significant bowl games? Having a national relevant coach means nationally relevant assistants. From what I read unt had the largest assistant pool in cusa at $1.4M. Can you imagine pulling a position coach from tcu to be out DC? Someone who studied under Gary Patterson? What about a coach who worked under Gene Chizik? That's the caliber of coach we can expecting. These guys are going to be recruiting P5 assistants to unt - that should make you tingle in special places. Relevant assitants mean relevant players. Whomever is hired, best believe that a local hs coach will be on staff as a position coach. And that person can help bridge the gap in maybe the connections our new coach might not have. This is an exciting time for unt football, no matter who is chosen. To go 1-11 and still have this kind of interest; for us to be debating about taking an assistant whose combined teams went 21-3 this year is incredible. Im excited, I'm on board. And these are my two scents - might be closer to a dollar, but whose counting?
  8. There was an interesting article on the situation at Texas and how Patterson really screwed things up. One of the biggest nuggets, is that Charlie Strong wanted Morris to be the OC at Texas, and Morris agreed to come, but Patterson didn't want to pay that $5M buyout of his contract.
  9. North Texas: Multiple sources have told us UNT has identified four finalists and the interview process is ongoing. As we’ve written from day one, expect the Mean Green to go with a Power Five offensive coordinator who runs a spread scheme.
  10. Texas A&M: 247’s A&M site is reporting that they’ve been told offensive coordinator / quarterbacks coach Jake Spavital “will not be back” next season “and the tenures of others on the staff will depend on how A&M finishes up both the season and reruiting.” Does this change your opinion of him as a candidate?
  11. From Football Scoop: Sonny Dykes: Last week Dan Wolken of USA Today noted that he understands that Sonny Dykes is looking to leave Cal. Today, Trav Haney of ESPN added to that, saying, “Those who know the program say they would be surprised if Dykes returned in 2016. If there’s an opening in his home state of Texas, even at the Group of 5 level, Dykes could get in the mix.”
  12. ... Butch Davis. I think this is the kind of hire we need right now - he can recruit the right kind of coaches AND the right kind (and size) of players. He's been extremely successful at the college level, and has been totally vindicated from the investigation at UNC. 79-43 as a college coach - nice to get someone with a winning college record. Next, I'm looking at Greg Schiano. If I was AD - I'm not playing around with this hire!!!

  14. Looks like are projected to make field along with Tulsa and Florida international http://www.collegesportsmadness.com/softball/bracketology
  15. This is how Duke does it: Athletics $1,000,000 will establish an endowment supporting an associate or assistant coach. $2,000,000 will establish an endowment supporting a head coach in a sport other than football or basketball. $5,000,000 will establish an endowment supporting the head coach of football, men’s basketball, or women’s basketball. $5,000,000 will establish an endowment supporting the athletic director.
  16. They announced 4 finalists today Those finalists are former Delaware head coach K.C. Keeler, former head coach and current Northwest Missouri State athletic director Mel Tjeersdma, Virginia offensive line coach Scott Wachenheim and former Texas co-offensive coordinator/receivers coach Darrell Wyatt.
  17. Yep - looks like it is immediately. And also - Clint Bowen takes over as the new DC.

  19. University of Wyoming just hired their new head coach on Sunday - the head coach from North Dakota State - who is in the process of going for their third straight FCS championship. The thing that make me scratch my head, was the his base salary is $750,000 with chance to get up to $1.2 million with incentives. Maybe with his contract extension, McCarney can get higher than the $500,000 base he is making.
  20. Looks like UNLV is doing a deal for students - $20 per ticket / limit 2.
  21. I never thought in my lifetime (maybe wishful thinking) that the outcome of the Big 10 Championship game would impact us - if we go to the HOD Bowl. If the Big 10 has 2 BCS Teams (Ohio State the BCS Championship and Michigan State in the Rose Bowl), the conference would not be able to meet its bowl requirements, meaning the bowl would then have to offer to an at-large team from another conference. If they have just one team, then Michigan is the most likely opponent. Who are you routing for???
