  1. That line cracked me up; CBS trying to pump up their properties. The MWC hasn't even been in a NY6 bowl since Boise in 2014. Beyond the permanently online G5 fans, no one in the country views the MWC as the dominant G5 conference.
  2. That's just some kid who doesn't know anything. He's repeating what he read from MHVer3's feed. Actually blocked me on Twitter when I asked if that's where he got the info.
  3. It wouldn't be all of the presidents unless a formal vote was being taken.
  4. So Jim Williams says it's highly unlikely. There's no media contract right now for grant of rights, so there's nothing really to agree to join. Also that Luck was brought in on Thursday and it's now only Tuesday. He was at FAU yesterday, so not a lot of time for the kind of meetings that would need to take place. His 100% guess is, if the rumor is authentic in any way, that schools who previously applied for membership were told they would be considered when/if there's a media deal/conference to join.
  5. The complicating factor in all of this is media. As I’ve said before, Fox got what they want and they’re not coming to the table. CBS by all accounts has no interest. ESPN is not going to enter into a new contract that devalues one of its properties (AAC). That really just leaves Apple and the question of whether or not they’d be interested in a rebuilt Pac. Even if you have four schools who will jump, if Apple isn’t interested, a rebuilt Pac is out of the question.
  6. I must have missed it, is that official, 5 mile radius of the stadium? That doesn't even include Corinth or Argyle.
  7. Not about liking him or not, he's just a fan posting random stuff. It's obvious from his Twitter history.
  8. If you believe the media, it's headed towards only the SEC/B1G being relevant with occasional relevance for the Big 12. Not seeing either of our schools in any of those conferences.
  9. Extremely fortunate that other schools’ fans don’t make realignment decisions.
  10. My guess is either top 25 or hosting a top 25 team (with a reasonable chance to win the game).
  11. The dogshit reference was towards USF, not UTSA. I get the recent football success argument for UTSA, but I think they have foundational issues in their athletic department that they need to resolve in the next few years.
  12. For some reason, people see UTSA as a sleeping giant despite the fact they don’t have an on campus stadium, play in a HS arena, and have one of (the?) lowest budgets in the AAC. UAB has some basketball pedigree and is the only show in Birmingham. Also it’s just unfamiliarity to a degree. This coming from fans of one of the most dogshit schools athletically in the AAC is funny, tho.
  13. Was going to say. Similar was in 2007 the Navy game had about 26k at Fouts. The home game immediately before (MTSU) and after (WKU) had 18k and 5k respectively.
  14. Well, the difference is one of us thinks they're ACC material and the other doesn't.
  15. The way the MWC bylaws are written is that schools leaving would owe the conference double the previous year's conference distribution if notified by 6/30, and triple if notifying after. Also if you notify after, it's like the gym membership where they're going to charge you for the current period. That's how it went from $17m to $34m for SDSU (double at $8.5 each = $17m vs. current year and triple ($8.5m x 4) $34m). Since they'd never get zero distribution, they'll always owe some sort of exit fee. No free agency period like we're seeing with the Pac.
  16. True, but we've had more than one winning season in the last 19 years, and we're already in the conference.
  17. Again, no one is saying they don't have value. What I'm saying is it makes no sense to enter into a new Pac-X contract when they could just strongarm them into an existing, possibly modified contract.
  18. Going to assume you meant Pac in that bullet point. What I mean by the money not being there...Fox has what they want out of the west coast. They're not coming to the table. For both ESPN, and to a lesser extent CBS, why would they come to the table with a new Pac-X when they could just force those schools into the AAC or MWC, respectively? That would mean the only realistic bidder at this point is Apple. They'd have to a) find enough willing schools to make the jump, 2) help those schools with exit fees, and 3) get enough money out of Apple to offset that they will basically disappear from the public eye nationally. I just don't see it.
  19. The money just isn't there unless they're able to work something out with Apple.
  20. Winning football. CSU hasn't had more than 4 wins in a season since 2017. AFA has been better in that regard, but it's hard to justify taking one without the other. That isn't to say they're not worth taking, but your 1st tier schools in the MWC are SDSU and Boise. 2nd tier is CSU and AFA. 3rd tier is UNLV and Fresno State. None of the others are worth going after.
