  1. We’ve been underwhelming the last few years. Of course attendance is going to suffer. What’s SMU’s excuse? String of solid seasons, moving to the ACC, chance for 10 wins, and spot in the conference championship and yet maybe only 12K show up? Really screams P5 material.
  2. Clear you were leaving? Y'all were denied by the Big 12, ACC, and Pac 12 before the ACC got desperate enough to finally allow you admission if you played for free. P.S. SMU fanbase really showed up to support the best season in decades on Saturday 🙄 maybe when the last home game is against Boston College people will finally care *sarcasm*
  3. He won't risk it. UTSA will be rebuilding next year. Good chance they don't even make a bowl. Traylor will take any P5 job he finds mildly attractive.
  4. 1. The defense was 100% a rebuild this season. I don’t have the exact numbers but we lost 5 or 6 of our top tacklers from last year’s already bad unit. Can’t really argue with the grades though. Hopefully, a lot of guys are told to enter the portal the next couple weeks. 2. Most people had us wining 5 to 7 games this year. Giving Morris an F grade for finishing on the low end of what was expected is unjustified. No one thought we were going to contend for a conference title, so for you to now say we should have been in the hunt is just an attempt to justify your harsh grade. That said, I agree, we should be a bowl team. The FIU and Navy losses were unacceptable. I’d give Morris a “C+”. The offense exceeded all expectations and we closely competed with the top teams in the conference. I don’t expect that to change next year. With a revamped defense, I expect we’ll take a step forward. 3. IMO, your WR and OL grades are too generous. OL had massive protection issues all year. Especially, against the blitz. It’s what cost us the Navy game. And our WRs had way too many drops to get an A+. Outside of Maclin, the rest of the room is average. I’d give the OL a “C” and WRs a “B+”.
  5. I think Traylor is good enough to win without Harris. That said, he's also smart enough to see big rebuild UTSA is heading for next year with the departure of Harris and about a half dozen other key starters. He doesn't want a 5-7 season to hurt his stock. He's going to do everything he can to get out of San Antonio this season.
  6. It didn't seem to hurt their recruiting...Kids aren't going to care what their HS coach thinks about a program when that program's boosters are giving them a massive NIL bag. He's getting fired because he runs an outdated offense, couldn't win on the road, and wasn't competing for SEC titles.
  7. Blame it on what you want, but it was a mistake by Buggs. That ball was his if he goes for it. Instead he back pedals away from the ball and gives SJ an easy possession.
  8. You think SMU fans are suddenly going to start showing up in droves for BC and Pitt? I doubt it. Florida State will garner a lot of interest and TCU (maybe BYU) will fill your stadium for you, but outside of that it will be the typical 19K-24K crowds.
  9. Outside of FSU, there's no one on SMU's home schedule fans care about.
  10. If we had this start to conference play we'd probably be bowl eligible right now. The difference in difficulty between our conference schedule and SMU's (even UTSA's) is crazy. Now, we should have still made a bowl game, but the AAC did us no favors.
  11. Food recommendations for anyone heading to Charleston: Breakfast- Miller's All Day...be sure to get the banana bread. Best I've ever had. Oysters/Southern style Seafood- Leon's...amazing fried catfish bites and of course, oysters! Italian- Melfi's...don't sleep on their pizza. Also have great cocktails. And I recommend checking out Fort Sumter. If possible, do the last tour of the day. You get to participate in the flag lowering.
  12. It's because they say "Rice". You can't trademark a color scheme. But since UH's unis have "Houston" across the chest and look just like the old Oilers unis, the NFL is claiming copyright infringement. Based on what I've read, UH could simply swap "Houston" for "Cougars".
  13. SOS Rankings: Penn State- 57 Georgia- 65 Michigan- 70 SMU- 113 I mostly kid, still impressive regardless of the schedule.
  14. Telling the truth isn’t something you’re known for. I exposed that before.
  15. The Phil Bennett that led last year’s defense, which had a lot more talent, to a bottom 10 ranking and gave up 460 yds/game and 31.5 points?
  16. Because some of us like to support the program instead of shitting on it like you do.
  17. My point is SMU's defense hasn't exactly shutdown good offenses like ours. I'm well aware our defense sucks. It's why I don't think we'll win. But our offense is certainly good enough to keep us in the game. It's odd to me so many here watched us go toe-to-toe with 3 of the best teams in the conference, yet think SMU is going to kill us. What exactly have people seen that makes them think SMU is that much better than Tulane, Memphis, and UTSA? I don't see it. And if we had SMU's conference schedule we'd be sitting at 5 or 6 wins right now...Charlotte 3-6, ECU 1-8, Temple 3-6, Tulsa 3-6. and Rice 4-5. That's a combined record of 14-31! Compare that to our conference schedule...Navy 3-5, Temple 3-6, Tulane 8-1, Memphis 7-2, and UTSA 6-3. Combined record of 27-17. I'm willing to bet our defensive and offensive numbers would look a lot better if we got to play Charlotte, ECU, and Tulsa rather than Tulane, Memphis, and UTSA.
  18. By this logic we shouldn't get excited about what we do in the SMU game. They don't have a win against a team with a winning record. And like UTSA, they were beaten by a less than average Big 12 team.
  19. Apparently, I did more than you. Have you seen the teams SMU has played? Outside of OU, TCU, and Rice their schedule has been a total cakewalk. Those three teams average 31 pts/game against this "elite" defense. And Rice didn't even have JT Daniels in the 2nd half. The 6 FBS teams SMU has beaten this year have a combined record of 17-38. We will be the best offense they've seen since TCU. Just because they shut down 3 of the worst teams in the conference (Temple, ECU, Tulsa) doesn't mean they're going to do it to us. Our offense is light years ahead of those teams. And lets not act like we didn't shred UTSA's defense. We put up 456 yds and averaged almost 6 yds/play! The only reason we didn't score 35+ is we had 2 turnovers in the red zone.
  20. I don't think a QB and WR on pace to be first team all conference are locks to leave. Why risk leaving a system that's working so well for you? Ask Shorter and Zakhari Franklin how their NFL prospects are looking... They'll likely get sizable bags here and continue to put up tons of tape. And don't forget, its not like Maclin's family is hurting for cash...
  21. Not sure why some of y’all think SMU is going to shut down our offense. Their defense is solid, but not good enough to hold us to 2-3 scores. I don’t think Preston Stone’s availability will really matter. I expect SMU to pound the rock either way. SMU- 40 North Texas- 27
  22. Colorado - Already a power conference team. Not sure how this is an applicable example? Rutgers- Maybe the only decent example. But they were a member of the Big East from 1991-2012. A lot of this time the Big East was a Power Conference. And they did make a bowl game 8 of the 9 years before being invited to the Big 10. Still a dumb addition by the Big 10. They didn't need an East Coast presence. Louisville - Won CUSA 3 of their final 5 years (2000-2005) before moving to the Big East. During their 8 years (2005-2012) in the Big East, they won the conference 3 times. After the Big East folded, Louisville went 12-1 and finished the year ranked #15 in their only year (2013) as a member of the AAC. Between 2000-2013, they finished with a T-25 ranking 6 times. I think most would say this is "earning" your way to a P5 conference. I don't know why SMU fans are so defensive about how they got a P5 invite and try to say its nothing out of the ordinary. Just own it. Not many schools have the deep pockets to buy their way into a P5 conference despite no real on-field success and a non-existent fan base.
  23. You know what he means. In the last 15 years or so, every G5 that got invited to a P5 conference "earned" it with multiple seasons of great success (conference titles, T-25 rankings, NY6 Bowls), while having a supportive fan base. There's a big difference in how TCU, Utah, Houston, UCF, and Cincy got their invites compared to SMU.
