  1. That is sickening. It reminds me of the Treaty Oak in Austin. I hope that they'll be able to save at least some of the trees. What punishment is realistic for something like this?
  2. All right, I can see you don't want to be cheered up here, Dude.
  3. You have got to buck up, man. You cannot drag this negative energy in to the tournament!
  4. I'm just old enough to remember reading Pogo as a kid, but I was too young then to understand it. If it still existed today, it would be on the editorial page, not on the comics page. And Garfield is based on President James Garfield! I'll give you a +1 to offset whoever gave you a -1.
  5. Actually, that was Walt Kelly's Pogo comic strip. The actual quote is "We have met the enemy and he is us". But, I see your point.
  6. My guess is that he (the other dmccarney) means that he talked to four other Sun Belt ADs, looking to find out if NT or ULL were looking to leave for the WAC.
  7. The camera isn't working, so they sent Dali to paint the stadium.
  8. Is it a coincidence that the word denial starts with Denia?
  9. For those of us who don't live near Denton - they're taking care of us too - free webcast for both the women's and men's games! My link
  10. That's a home game for UH - I wonder if it will be played at Robertson Stadium, or moved to Reliant Stadium. If it's at Robertson, there's another hole shot in the theory that big name teams won't play in a 30,000-seat stadium. Interesting - UCLA will then play at Rice in 2012. Another school wanting to recruit the state more.
  11. I'll make a guess that his parents are divorced. He better be singing the Aggie War Hymn!
  12. At first I was thinking "maybe Jude thought he was talking to Dan McCarney the North Texas coach, not Dan(?) McCarney the San Antonio reporter", but then I found this blog entry from the 18th: Akpunku, Williams leaning toward UTSA He crossed North Texas off his list? Or was it the other way around?
  13. It was great to meet you and your wife, Kram!
  14. I've decided to drive up for the game - I'm free this weekend, there are only a few Saturday games left, and who knows what life will throw at me in the next month that would keep me from getting to any other games. Is there a section that GMG.com members like to sit in? I'll get my ticket there if there is.
  15. It wouldn't be the first time; Nostalgia: Ron Weaver/McKelvey, fake name, real Longhorn
  16. I'm reminded of the MST3000 "Hired - The Musical" sketch. Just substitute "Buick" for "Chevrolet"?:
  17. amazing how you can sing (and post) after you're dead
  18. I thought about that too, but unless there was some significant re-cutting of the metal decking, we'd have a horseshoe for a baseball stadium. I don't know if that would be desireable, and I don't know that the labor to re-cut the decking would be cost-effective. It probably would be better to sell the end-zone bleachers to someone who has a track around their football field. TSU-SM, maybe?
  19. Why the logo change? Did the AD, or the university branding department, give gmg.com some flack over using the Mean Green wordmark? What's with the thing extending from the "R"? Is it supposed to be a talon? It reminds me more of Mr. Krabs from Spongebob. But the windmills are hilarious!
  20. I hate to ruin your memory of the game, but the final score wasn't that close - it was 92-86, according to www.fanbase.com. From what I remember, we kept fairly close most of the game, but by the end they were pulling away and all we could do was keep fouling them. The DePaul game and the triple-overtime win over Texas - both in 1980-81 - were incredible. Great times - here's to Bill Blakely!
  21. Maybe Todd Graham can find a job for Todd Ford as well as Todd Dodge.
  22. Rick Spears, aka Green Grenade II, who I consider to be called a legendary gomeangreen.com member. He's been waiting for a new stadium since the Fry era. I don't believe he cares for his stylized eagle being called the "Flying Worm", but I guess he puts up with it.
