  1. Hmmm - the "Alliance"... what's just down 35W across the county line? That's right, it's Alliance Airport! I see some potential here for a sponsor...
  2. Do you think Jerry Jones will get the Arkansas job?
  3. The only reason the Astrodome hasn't been torn down yet is that they can't afford to. It's less expensive to let it sit & decay. It's a shame...
  4. They could ask TXDOT to build those sound barrier walls around the stadium. That would stop the bullets.
  5. They're going to tear down Robertson and build a new stadium on the same site. So they'll be playing elsewhere for 1 or 2 years - either at Reliant or Rice. Although I suppose they could play at the new soccer stadium downtown along with Tx Southern, but it only seats 20k or so, and they'd be 3rd in scheduling. Edit - Football at Minute Maid Park, anyone? I suppose that's also an option - closer to their campus, but twice the capacity than the soccer stadium. Just don't know if a football field will fit. Think new Yankee Stadium.
  6. And they plan to build a 10,000 seat on-campus stadium, but not right away. Not sure where they have enough land, unless they own the property at the corner of SW Freeway & Fondren where there's a shopping center that would be ripe for being torn down. Given that they play basketball in a gym that probably seats less than 1000, that's ambitious. But at least they don't think they belong in the Alliance.
  7. It won't be Cynthia Cooper-Dyke - not that I think she was interested in NT: Cynthia Cooper-Dyke to Coach Women's Basketball at TSU Sounds like she's a good coach. it's a similar move to the one Aston made going to NT. I guess if there's a dream job for her, it would be UH.
  8. Seems like the UH AD has learned something from NT: "Fouts Field Finale" is a better slogan.
  9. Yes, but someone needs to franchise one in Denton first. The closest one is in Bossier City. http://www.wingzone.com/findlocation.html Actually, I thought Pizza Hut owned the name Wing Zone - apparently not...
  10. Congratulations, Sgt. Tuesday! (not just the facts! )
  11. I can't think of a WAC school not in that list - is there?
  12. They never were river boats. Misssissippi law only required that they float, so the casinos all built large buildings on floating barges. It's that way in Lake Charles, LA. But since Katrina, the casinos on the Mississippi Gulf Coast are allowed to be built on land. In other words, they're not small casinos.
  13. If you have to "buy in", then the money would be better spent on a practice facility.
  14. I'm hoping the University, Athletic Dept & Alumni Association will do it right - they certainly had it in place for the Rice game a few years ago until Hurricane Ike hit. But if they don't, then I guess I'll have to mobilize the troops (Houston Alumns) and put one together.
  15. I'll say it again - I'd like to see the UH game considered like it's the 6th home game. Of course, living in the Houston area, that's easy for me to say. The LSU game would be easier for me to get to, but I have a feeling I'll enjoy the K-State game more.
  16. Besides UMass, there are several other 1-AA teams in the northeast (Stony Brook & Albany, both in NY, are two that I know I've heard about) that want to move up, so I don't think the MAC is going to want to expand their footprint.
  17. It's just west of the Galleria. From Conroe, during rush hour? Good luck getting there before the game ends. We'll have to start having football game-watching parties again this fall. But these on-the-spur-of-the-moment basketball games, especially on a weekday, is impossible to make happen.
  18. What did FFRick's sign say at the NMSU FB game way back when? Something like "If you call us North Texas State one more time I'm coming up to the press box" - that was good.
  19. Hopefully Kingwood Green will see this and answer you. How about Sugar Land / SW Houston - anyone? If there's only one or two, I'll give you directions to my house. Send me a PM.
  20. Never go against a Sicilian when death is on the line! Hmmmm...
  21. And on CSS on ComCast in Houston: CSS Sports TV listings That's 7pm Eastern, 6pm Central.
  22. That means that the game may be on CSS on ComCast in Houston - that's what happened the last time. I'll have to check the TV listings. Edit: Yes it is! CSS Sports TV listings That's 7pm Eastern, 6pm Central.
