  1. UTD has a mascot? What is it, a TI calculator? https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/University_of_Texas_at_Dallas It was initially founded in 1961 as a private research arm of Texas Instruments.
  2. https://untalumni.com/membership/benefits/ Liberty Mutual Liberty Mutual Auto and Home Insurance offers UNT alumni personalized coverage, multi-car and multi-policy discounts, 24-hour claims assistance and more. Call (844) 652-2352 or visit the website for a free a quote.
  3. If anyone else has a single ticket, I'm interested. Otherwise, I'm just going to get a GA ticket when I get there (like I've always done).
  4. The Kibbie Dome is where the 2001 team won the Sun Belt title, and the spot in the New Orleans bowl.
  5. It's always mentioned that Rick was "seen but unseen" as the armadillo mascot, but he did get one second (two?) of face time when he fired the cannon:
  6. That wouldn't be large enough for "plastic nachos with rubber cheese".
  7. No - at the first Texas Rangers stadium! My wife and I went to plenty of games there when we were dating. I think we still have a few "batting helmet" ice cream cups in the back of the kitchen cabinet. 🙂
  8. As long as neither one's first name is Edsel...
  9. When it comes to 1930s college football movies, I prefer this one, far removed from reality: Pigskin Parade The football team from tiny Texas State University (hmm!) Is accidentally invited to play Yale (instead of the University of Texas). Hilarity ensues! The cast includes Judy Garland, Jack Haley, Betty Grable, and Elisha Cook Jr.
  10. The Year College Football Ate Itself A sarcastic take on the current state of college football. FWIW, the link was sent to me by a relative who's a Michigan alum, and a retired government professor at Claremont-McKenna.
  11. To answer my own question, no, Higgins's cannon was much larger: Try again, UT Sorta Almost!
  12. My dad had* one of those "toy" cannons. They're pretty awesome in a back yard, but... not in a football stadium. Isn't that what Higgins had on "Magnum P.I."? * I'm going to have to search my parents' house before it's sold and see if the cannon is still there!
  13. Somewhere along the way, possibly during the Dickey years, I met Alex; it turned out that our times at NT overlapped by a few years. If I remember correctly, he lived in McConnell Hall, and dined at Bruce Hall cafeteria; I lived in Bruce Hall from 79 - 81, so it turned out that we knew a few of the same people. Whenever we would bump into each other at games, he would bring up those days, and would ask who I had kept up with. Those were always enjoyable conversations. I can't remember when was the last time I saw him, possibly not since 2019, since I haven't been to too many games since the pandemic. I'm not sure, but I seem to recall him once coming from San Antonio to Houston for a game at Rice. But he's been active on GMG all this time - I had no idea he was ill. Until now, I had no idea that we were both born on September 22nd, but 4 years apart... R.I.P., Alex. I once asked him how he came up with the name "Danish43", but I can't remember what he said...
  14. Oil > Accounting > Furniture I'll have to agree with @ntmeangreen11
  15. There's a photo somewhere of Booger and his brothers riding horses. He could have been on the Polo team too!
  16. I don't know, but it's not from Gallery Furniture.
