  1. Then explain why at least 2000 people showed up for the UNT baseball night sponsored by the Rangers. 2000 hats were given away and there were still more people in line when the hats ran out. You might be able to draw conclusions based on the popularity of Mavs basketball vs Rangers baseball or the differences in price of Mavs basketball vs Rangers baseball. But 130 fans vs over 2000 fans doesn't say anything definitive about UNT pride or lack thereof.
  2. I'm sure it is RV's fault since he became the Athletic Director that not a single North Texas football player has ever been selected or played on a NFL team. Thanks RV
  3. Thor, we are having fajitas. See you there.
  4. I guess complaining about complaining is not politically correct on this board. I offered a potential solution to a problem. Solutions are not desirable so I will step aside and let the complaining continue.
  5. I can see all the complaining here about scheduling hasn't changed it. So I don't complain about it. I'm practicing what I preach. UNT90 said "Do something about it. Talk is cheap", I'm repeating what he said. So be sure to complain to him as well. You want change. Who has the power to make a change? I believe the BOR has the power. Prepare a presentation for them. Present facts and figures that state your case, compare to other universities especially our conference mates. Don't offer opinions, just the facts. The BOR hire and fire personnel at the Athletic Director level and write his goals. Be sure to give a copy to the President before the Regents get their copy (follow the chain of command). I have given you a plan to change the situation. You really want change, to quote UNT90 "Do something about it. Talk is cheap"
  6. After all the usual whining and ranting about scheduling and demanding that RV be fired, is it fixed? Where is the action to change it? Certainly everyone is entitled to express their opinion and their frustration with scheduling. But repeated arguments on this board is not causing change nor will it ever. Talk is cheap and so is whining on this board. Man up and DO something or shut up.
  7. It is your opinion that the fee needs to be raised. Yes, some students will bitch about it, they care about it being raised and they care about it not being fair. They could make a point about the raise not benefitting them, it only benefits the Athletic Dept. Then you say you're not a normal student and give in other ways. So one of your priorities in expenditure of your money is spending/donating towards the Athletic Dept. The other students can say we already shell out fee money for the AD, why the increase? Since the BOR controls the fee amounts, why increase it this year and not the previous years? You and the others who want to max out the AD fees need to sell it to the students. Don't cop an attitude about paying it and move on or don't tell them if they don't like it, leave. Don't alienate the people who provide the largest attendance block at Apogee. By paying the current AD fees they also are making a donation (paying off the Apogee loan). You want them to come back to attend games and donate to the University. Do not take a condescending attitude or a don't care attitude. People wonder why the alumni in the area don't attend or donate. Hmmmm.
  8. and You say "Who cares what the students think?" then you say "Well, actually, I am" a student (I added the student). So why should anyone care what you think since you are a student? Then you quoted DallasGreen "As DallasGreen pointed out, they are more than welcome to leave if they don't like it." who was referring to the students. As you are a student (see reference above) if you don't like the current fee situation you can follow DallasGreen's words about leaving. But I guess since you know "It's what is in the best interest of the university.", I assume you will stay.
  9. When you are negotiating, you have a set of parameters which governs your decision making. For example, your schedule (how much flexibility do you have to try to set a date or two dates which further increases the difficulty of matching their open dates). The AD tried to set up a 1 and 1 with Purdue and couldn't find dates to match and they went out to the mid 2020s looking. Or the desire for a 1 and 1 versus a "opportunity game" . The 1 and 1 won't put as much money in your pocket vs the opportunity game (30,000 tickets if Apogee fills up or a $900,000 check). Then there is your negotiating position. Are you in a position of power or a position of weakness. Does UNT have any power or position versus any P5 school. My opinion is no we don't. The non P5 schools have very little power (P5 stands for Power 5, I wonder why) but supposedly Kentucky was a bit desperate for a series that would meet their schedule, so their negotiating position was weaker than somebody else.
  10. Yeah, like we can demand a 1 and 1 and get them to say okay since you demanded it.
  11. Conference USA Announces Questionable Changes to WKU Schedule http://www.underdogdynasty.com/2015/4/4/8328269/conference-usa-announces-questionable-changes-to-wku-schedule Quote: From the official Conference USA press release, one can infer that the university had little-to-no say in this schedule revision. Hmm, I'm sure somehow RV engineered this.
  12. If you would check, at the end of the 2001 season, Iowa Sate (member of the Big XII) canceled their baseball program.
  13. Per US News & World report http://www.usnews.com/news/articles/2014/02/11/study-income-gap-between-young-college-and-high-school-grads-widens The difference between a college graduate and high school graduate is $17,500. This report is a year old but I suppose the difference could have risen to $30,000 per year.
  14. I demand that the fans who didn't attend this game be held accountable for the Creighton fans outnumbering the Mean Green fans. Oh wait, accountability doesn't apply to fans. My bad.
  15. UNT90 stated "Good to know we have done the bare minimum in home scheduling 2 of the last 4 years." In my frame of reference next season, 2015 is NOT 1 of the LAST 4 years. Today is 4 DEC 2014.
  16. To be more precise, UNT90 stated in the UAB President Ray L Watts... thread "Good to know we have done the bare minimum in home scheduling 2 of the last 4 years." This is why I chose the 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014 seasons (last 4 years) to find the 5 home game seasons. I can count to 4 (seasons) and I can count to 1 (5 home game season - 2012) but evidently I can't count to 2.
  17. Help me sort something out here. The statement has been made that over the last four years, RV has scheduled two 5 home game seasons. I have checked and rechecked the records. Here is what I have found; 2014 - 6 home games - SMU, LaTech, Nicholls, Southern Miss, FAU and FIU. 2013 - 6 home games - Idaho, Ball State, MTSU, Rice, UTEP and UTSA. 2012 - 5 home games - Tx Southern, Troy, ULaLa, Ark State and South Alabama. 2011 - 6 home games - Houston, Indiana, FAU, ULM, WKU, and MTSU. I also checked 2010 and I counted 6 home games but I am not listing them as that is 5 years back. Please straighten me out on which season is the second 5 home game season.
  18. My wife and I are going. I don't expect a win but gonna enjoy the lighting of the Riverwalk.
  19. Thor, Jason and his in-laws RV is parked on the other side of the building we normally set up at.
  20. Thor, I hope to be there about the same time.
