    I’m a realist, Plumm.

We had a great crowd that day. But the upper deck was 100% empty with the exception of some people above the main North Texas crowd. The lower bowl end zones were largely empty and the UNLV side was not even close to full. Plus on the North Texas side the seats underneath the upper deck (the obstructed view seats behind the pillars) were largely empty. I’d say we had around 25,000 North Texas fans there. Throw in some UNLV fans and some casual observers, then add about 10,000 phantom attendees to make the number look better and you get around 40,000.

I have more photos of the stadium from that day.

I know academics are a big part of the B1G10. A lot of people wanted Nebraska booted out after they lost their AAU accreditation about the time they joined (only team in the B1G10 without it).

The reason Nebraska lost its AAU accreditation is that the medical school is not located in Lincoln. This loss in accreditation was in process before joining the Big10. AAU changed their requirements and Nebraska was caught up in the change.

    🗣 O—M—G! (again)?
First, hoping Wren Baker is a bonafide keeper because he’ll do a helluva lot more good at North Texas than the alternative & once all this NCAA—UT/OU fruit basket turnover smoke clears he’ll get a good OOC scheduling formula going at North Texas. Seems he’s not too far from doing that already.

••• STILL.....Scheduling up is the only way to go up & that is what will catch the imagination of countless North Texas alums & fans many of whom are still —Missing In Action.
We won’t get Top 25 rankings or votes playing former Lone Star Conference schools.  Sorry, it’s true.
TSU-San Marcos may cause “it” to happen for some of you because you can drive there(?)😳but it won’t do anything for all the UNT-affiliated ones whose seats still remain empty 10 years after Apogee Stadium’s debut.  They expect better before they hop aboard.

Nevertheless, a 2 games series with TSU-SM will not cause irreparable harm only if they beat us, but why put yourself in such a position for that to happen in the first place?

    👀HAVE WE ALREADY FORGOTTEN?
Is the Big 10’s Indiana U still the only P5 school to play at Apogee?😞 Then look at all the impressive list of P5 schools UNT played at Fouts Field & then start working for a future OOC schedule from that list. 🗣(Remember when we beat the PAC12 Oregon State Beavers at Fouts Field?  Never seen so many disappointed & frowning Beavers in all my life.

    ❇️🦅❇️

Using your logic for Wisconsin and other P5 teams, why should they play little old UNT?

Tailgating is out...per a "highly placed source" in the Athletic Dept.

    per meangreensports.com:

    Tailgating

The Governor's executive order at this time does not permit any sanctioned tailgating activities larger than 10 people for attendees. As a result, UNT will not be offering rental tents or sponsored activities on The Hill, Eagle Point, or in parking lots until these restrictions are lifted. Any groups fewer than 10 must adhere to local and state COVID-19 safety requirements including, but not limited to, face coverings, social distancing and number of attendees.

Do you think TCU brought a lot of fans when they traveled in the MWC? You know, the conference they used to make the Rose Bowl and Fiesta Bowl from a non-power league conference?

Are you inferring that if UNT joins the MWC, we will be going to the Rose Bowl and the Fiesta Bowl?  I think what got TCU to those bowls was the the quality of TCU's football team..  A case could be made that the MWC contributed to the success of TCU but only a small portion.  If TCU had lost several games in MWC conference play, TCU would not have played in those bowls.  Have any other MWC teams gone to the Rose and/or Fiesta bowls as members of the MWC?  Merely joining the MWC conference does not assure participating in the top bowls or receiving an invitation to join a P5 conference.

That will, very unfortunately, never happen. The fanbase overwhelmingly is against the MWC because it’s not driveable for games and is past newspaper deadlines if you kick off late on Saturday nights. Stupidest reasons ever, but it’s clear we are in the minority on this.

Yeah, fans attending away games has got to be the dumbest reason ever,  I'm sure the team feels the same way.

$2.3 million a year with $200k yearly raises. Sure sounds like the unlimited resources all their fans were singing about.

This is the hire I expected from the beginning. Will be interesting to see how he pans out. I'm honestly surprised by the low salary compared to p5 salaries.

Obviously, Seth didn't accept that job based on salary. He is willing to wait for the right opportunity for him. In the mean time, he is our coach. Perhaps there was other factors such as being forced to retain certain coaches or something else but money whipping him did NOT encourage him to take the job.

Hmm.  I hope they don't just ho-hum this thing.
It's OK to have goals for this season and still celebrate what you've already accomplished.

If I remember correctly, they will not have a raising ceremony but will acknowledge the accomplishment by recognizing the banner.

And the team has already received their championship rings.

If the NCAA is going to continue being a multi-billion dollar business, there should be a payment model for the kids. Period. That's just how you run businesses. Didn't realize so many on this board were anti-capitalist.

I believe the capitalist model would include pay for performance. The more you contribute to the bottom line (winning?) the more pay you receive. Catch a touchdown pass, receive a bonus or pay for position. Or perhaps pay for perceived value versus other players at the same position. Universities could setup a draft to sign players then pay based on which round they were drafted.

Alternately pay players based on a socialist system. Everyone receives the same pay regardless of sport, position,  gender, P5 or G5, wealth of the university, etc.

Endless debate on the pay. And by the way, get an education.  Then charge the athletes for tuition, room and board, books and fees.

This is exactly how i am, nervous in the second half!    As these last 2 games have played out we start winning and building leads! At UNT!!!   No lead is safe in my head I guess.  If it were any other team playing I would be calling it church with a 25+ point lead and less than 10 minutes to go....    UNT is playing?   No lead is safe... But damnit if this isn't ridiculously fun!

I can't wait to get back into the Pit on Wednesday!

  11. If UH has such a great athletic program then why did the Big12 turn thumbs down on your application to join. They evaluated UH along with other schools and decided you and the rest did not have near enough to bring to the Big12 party. And even several high placed Texas politicians could not sway the decision.

Wow. Love this if he manages to make this actually shake out this way. And it is true that he hasn't yet scheduled any P5 one-offs. That said, he didn't need to, we are booked so far out on those, and you can always do that at a later date (scheduling home and homes requires more advance) so I still need to see a bit more follow through before I completely believe it.

He has scheduled a home and home with the Univ of California.  I don't remember the dates.
