  1. What gives with this??????????/ http://proxy.espn.go.com/ncb/region?group=...;teamId=249#249
  2. Were they able to get 93 people to show up? My guess is there was alot of leftovers...
  3. What gives with 5 home games instead of 6? I'm sure this has to happen to someone, but didnt we do this last year also? Is this just typical when you schedule OOC money games that are contingent on playing at their place? Help me understand this. The only saving grace to me is that the SMU game will FEEL like a home game, but still....
  4. So what will Todge do to keep a game like this (and like OU) more of a contest?
  5. So he's being recruited by other schools and he's going to visit the campus? Did we expect this to not happen? TT will be one of a dozen schools that chase him. Keep in mind guys, he'll just visit TT or another school. He'll be spending alot of weekends in Denton over the next year with his Pop. He might even get to assist or observe some practices here. That alone could make him feel very comfortable with the surroundings, people, teamates.
  6. Oh now that's just crazy talk, dont get carried away. Lord knows our marketing demographic works so well right now by limiting everything to Voertmans and the Bookstore. UGH...
  7. Hey, wait a sec. How they gonna catch a boat to Fouts? I may be a fledglin' but I'm always thinkin.
  8. Even if TD went 5-7 this season, and kept the OU and Ark games respectable i.e. by us putting 20-24 points on the board against their starters, that to me would a very repectable turnaround for a first year coach coming into a situation that's been nothing short of a disaster the past 2 years.
  9. The thing I cant wait for is that SMU game. Everyone startng now needs to work on bringing someone that's never been to a UNT game to this event, because it's sure to be a blast in that stadium. If you get the SLC fans to attend, it'll look like that place was hit with a green flood! Given smu's poor attendence, I think we could literally turn that game into our own home field advantage by outnumbering them in attendance.
  10. Darrell Dickey must have used some of his Texas ties... - Take a look at USU's top recruits http://insider.espn.go.com/ncf/recruiting/...26season%3d2007
  11. Several schools of thought on this. Everyone knows how talented Riley is, so granted, numourous schools will recruit him. People shouldnt rule out that a big part of his success was because of his coaching from his father. You never know, he may find alot of comfort on the field because of that very relationship. If Riley chooses UNT just because of his father, there is NO shame in that. Knowing high regard all of us hold TD in because of his success, try and imagine Riley watching this as his son... To see your father rise the way TD has in the past 10 years, the notoriety, etc. His dad has got to be practically his hero. He's got to see his dad's vision of turning around UNT's program, and could possibly be thinking, "you helped me lead a team to a state championship, now it could be my time to help you...
  12. No problem, and youre right, I wasnt thinking even about licensing when I asked. I'll check out the cd at the bookstore
  13. Does anyone have an mp3 of the fight song they'd be willing to share? I could use the pick me up from time to time.
  14. True - that is VERY competitive, but it's not to say it cant be attempted. Not sure how many concerts are ever scheduled at UNT as is now. Super Pit is a good place for that, but I never hear of anything there. Back when I went there (late 80's) Im pretty sure Pat Benetar performed at the Pit. I do remember also that Run DMC was scheduled to play there, tickets were sold, and the band backed out for some reason. Student body was PISSED, huge mess with all the refunds. But I figure if you can get county stars to perform at the Frisco Soccer venue, then why not Denton?
  15. He doesnt have to worry about eATMe until 2009. He's got plenty of other opponents in 2007 & 2008 that will absolutely destroy USU.
  16. Dude, you make a comment like that, you dont love UNT. People do actually attend this university for reasons other than blowing a horn or painting a picture. Brace yourself for this logic, but sometimes maybe the reason someone didnt choose a school is because it just isnt the right "fit". I dont recall the University Brochure having a section that read "best place to attend if you have sick family in town, says D-Magazine" If you love A&M, great, but that comment was nothing short of insulting to the people on this board that DO love the school, and like myself, graduated from there. You can back up your football stats all you want, some might even be true, but it doesnt give you creative license to interpret the reason someone chose a place to attend college must have been something completely stupid. You owe the members of this board an apology.
  17. Hopefully implode that s.o.b. When they do, I'm going to be sitting across the street, on the hill at the Super Pit with a 6 pack and watching. I will NOT be sad to see her disappear into the night. That stadium has to fall 2nd in the "all time ugly" catagory right behind Texas Stadium.
  18. I agree. Surely some of you guys out there work in commercial real-estate and can fill in the blanks on a huge venture like this. So many people on here seem to think that we literally have to have 60 million in the bank to break ground. Surely UNT can go to a lender and present a proposal outlining costs for such a loan. A large part of the costs could be rolled into student fees over the course of 5 years couldnt it? I'm sure UNT has some dollars put away, has received donations, anticipate other donations, can count on at lthe very least a small percentage of corporate sponsors. Top that off with a flat $15.00 "stadium fee" (or "facility fee" so you dont have an uprising of people) to your each of 28,000+/- student bodies and SURELY there's enough money there to justify a lender to ok the deal. Anyone out there have experience in what percentage it takes to justify this type of deal with a lender? 20%, 30% 40%? And yes, I've taken in consideration ticket sales will have to presented, which as of lately, is embarressing. But I do believe if a facility is built correctly, it's one giant piece of advertising and makes money. I know alot of people that have basically quoted something like "I'd love to go to UNT game, but I just cant stand that stadium" Atmosphere is everything...
  19. Although that was not my first game, it was my most memorable. I remember watching Dale Hansen's report afterwards and he said "Texas may have won this game, but North Texas certainly did not lose it either". I was VERY hooked after that. I also remember that Scott Davis told Corky after losing that game, "coach, i promise you, we will NOT lose another game this season!" To be honest, they did, but it was so great to see the fire that team had in the late 80's. The fact that they were Division 1-AA, and had such confidence. Davis and Marcus Camper made a mockery of the UT defensive backs that game. Our day is coming again gentlemen, bide your time....
  20. Dammit, now what did I do with that other million. I'm always losing that AND my car keys...
  21. Went to UNT in the late 80's, LOVED Tomato. It was pretty cheap for a poor college student, so it saved my life a few times. Food was good, place was always dirty though. Who puts carpet in a pizza place? Just seemed nasty at times. Maybe it was re-done later, not sure.
  22. To be fair, true, we do need a new stadium yesterday. But honestly, do we deserve one? This program at best has been mediocre at times. We did manage to get to 4 bowl games, but by no means of putting up a fight against any OOC teams. People need to realize/associate that one of biggest reasons for a new stadium is due to the revenues generated BY OUT OF CONFERENCE GAMES. If we cant put up a descent fight against those teams, what's the use in building something to hold 45K? Even if the facility holds 65k and only 20K continue to show up, schools like UT and LSU would just assume pass on the idea of coming here. Step one is to get Dodge in place, and get his feet underneathe him. If his sucess follows him here, I'd wager the money and financing will come amazingly fast by way of corporate sponsors, possibly someone with naming rights to the stadium. Never know, Dodge Cars could step up at some point. There could be a plaza outside the stadium to show off their products. That alone is worth a fortune to a company like that. People need to stop thinking that the only money is coming from the gate count and the occassional rich guy donating a cool mill every 10 years.
  23. http://www.stanfordstadium.com/ http://smumustangs.cstv.com/facilities/ford-stadium.html http://www.smu.edu/tour/FordStadiumField.htm http://www.ridersbaseball.com/ballpark/bal...p;id=60&t=0 Personally, what I really love about Stanford's and SMU's new stadiums are the fact that their playing surfaces are partially depressed into the ground. Even the Frisco Roughriders ballpark is designed like this. This design makes the highest tier of stands not project too terribly high above the adjacent grade/propoerty outside the stadium. Some of you will probably want the new stadium to reach to the heavens, as to show off or pound our chest or whatever. I just dont care for that because alot of the time, the exterior of stadiums is visually unattractive. They CAN be made attractive by adding a facade or skin around the perimeter, but it starts to add up in construction dollars very fast. If the stadium is partially depressed into the ground, the exterior facade is minimalized, which will save construction costs. It's more affordable to remove dirt and 25 feet down than it it to skin a facade 80' tall all the way around.
  24. Utah State went 1-11 this season. They shouldnt complain, there's nowhere to go but up. Dickey had some success here, and later, suffered some poor seasons. Im sure he's not going to run the identical offense at U-State.
