  1. To the first bolded statement: That is just a talking point that also-rans in the Big Ten and Big 12 use to squeeze into the title game only to get jobbed by the SEC five straight times. To the second bolded statement: Absolutely if LSU has the #1 defense in the country and shuts down the consensus #1 in the title game(who they lost to earlier in the season based on 4 missed field goals). I would be LSU's biggest voice if that were the case
  2. I know his record and coaching were terrible but I do feel he made a solid contibution in our getting a new stadium. He didn't build it but he did give his help at fundraising and program promoting even if the results on the field were awful.
  3. They didn't give up 30 points to anyone all season. The most they gave up was to Georgia Southern (21pts.). The most they gave up to a FBS school was only 14pts.
  4. I totally agree with you fellow Oiler fan. If I had my choice for UNT to be modeled after Oklahoma State/Oregon/West Virginia or Alabama, I would take Alabama every day of the week. Offense may sell tickets by defense wins championships. I grew tired of watching all the arena league and flag football games this bowl season. Whatever happened to good old fashioned smashmouth football with a great defense?
  5. Bama was the most physically dominating team in the country with the worst field goal kicker. If they have Zach Olen or Nick Bazaldua instead of Cade "choke artist" Foster, they would have beaten LSU twice this year. Some people seem to think that LSU dominated Alabama already this year and that is just not the case. If Alabama hits just one of the 4 field goals they missed that day, they win and this isn't a discussion. OSU would have been destroyed by this Alabama team(bring out the carts and stretchers). If you think otherwise, you aren't being honest with yourself. Bama allowed less than 100yds and zero points to the unanimous #1 team in the country. They didn't even let them across midfield until the 4th quarter and that only happened once. I cannot recall ever seeing a more dominating defensive performance. I've had a feeling Bama would win the title ever since they trucked us earlier in the season. You could just tell that they were grown men amongst boys(figuratively speaking of course).
  6. Kelly green pants and blazers are not what I was referring to. Pink polos are not SMU colors and I think loafers should be outlawed at football games. Girls can wear anything they want.
  7. You mean he went all "Nate Newton" on us?
  8. I agree with this. At the 2007 game, we were called fa**ots by a bunch of SMU students dressed like they were having an Easter Sunday croquet match. Pastel polos with plaid shorts and loafers with no socks. I remember thinking, "you're wearing that to a football game and you are calling us fa*g*ts?".
  9. This story was on the Austin news. They have to go through the formalities and the job will officially post on Monday. They will have a search committee and all but they made it sound like the job was as good as his. Isn't Marble Falls where Cyril Lemon is from?
  10. Sorry my picture went down. I fixed it and added a NT picture too.
  11. I like the North Texas on the side of our helmets. It helps identify us and we need all the exposure we can get. Could anyone but the most diehard college football fans know who is playing in the following photo? I could guess Ball State was playing Arkansas State(I know they use an A and not a S). These helmets do not identify which Cardinals or which "State"(the NC is so small you can hardly make it out). This is why I am grateful for our "North Texas" helmets. It is hard to confuse what team has the ball in the above pic. It is clear to the viewer. While I agree the SOW may look better, I think using the lettering is best for our visibility now.
  12. A legit 6'4" 3 star JUCO? You'll get no argument from me.
  13. Point well taken. My argument is when you have equal ability, you will almost always choose the player with the greater size. That was my point. McNulty hasn't shown anything positive when it mattered which is why I question his position on the depth chart and if it relates to his father's relationship with the head coach. I can't help but feel that if Dan McCarney is not a head coach that Andrew McNulty is a walk-on somewhere.
  14. He threw more touchdowns to Tulsa than he did his own team this season. He had no other scholarship offers. This young man should not be a Division I-A quarterback and to compare him to Drew Brees is asinine(Drew Brees was the Texas 5A offensive player of the year in HS). Cooper Jones was a 3 star with one other FBS offer, McNulty was a 2 star with no other offers period. You gentlemen defending McNulty and his father's relationship with Coach Mac must've watched a different season. This season was more successful than last because of the improved defense, Lance Dunbar, and Derek Thompson. McNulty did not contribute positively and the team finished 5-7 in spite of him, not because of him. I hate nepotism. This is way worse than the Riley Dodge thing. At least Dodge was a parade all-american and gatorade player of the year. Iowa HS football is not Texas HS football. The #1 player in Iowa on rivals from 2011 was rated 87th nationally. There were 11 Texas players rated higher than that. Iowa had 2 four stars. Texas had 3 five stars and 38 four stars. It is a different level of football and McNulty was not as prepared to play as Cooper Jones was. He just didn't face the same level of competition. 15. Did any of you guys notice this picture in the gallery of McNulty and Cooper Jones standing next to each other? In my opinion, Jones looks like a legit FBS qb while McNulty looks like a slot receiver. Both are true freshman. Could you tell me why McNulty is the backup quarterback and Cooper Jones is likely looking for another position?
  16. Wow. Why does Cooper Jones look like a FBS quarterback and Andy McNulty look like a slot receiver, yet McNulty is playing qb and Cooper will likely switch positions?
  17. Never gets old. I love Festivus. It is a Festivus miracle!
  18. Recruited to South Florida by Mike Canales.
  19. Does "unconditional release" mean he could transfer within the conference?
