  1. You do know we went 5-7, right? We aren't exactly the pick of the litter this year. We are in no place to be bullying bowl committees. Had we gone 9-3, I could somewhat see your point. Most important part of any post you've put in this thread.
  2. You said a rematch wasn't worth taking off of work to go watch. What if the rematch was in the CUSA title game? That was my point. You are complaining about playing Army again in our bowl game. We could be in Texas State's shoes (like we were last year) and not have that problem. You know, wrinkled $100 bill.
  3. That isn't what you said. You said you couldn't justify taking off. Also, you and Ben laugh off the LSU/Bama suggestion because it was a championship game but where do you draw the championship rematch line? Conference championships? You already stated that bowl championships are meaningless to you. Should Wren and co turned down the bowl like Texas did? That'll show 'em. I can promise you it would've worked because there is no way in hell HOD would've claimed us again so you wouldn't have to worry about any rematches there. I just can't fathom how you all expect to make your point when the people you're hurting most are the ones that had no control over the opponent in the first place and that is OUR program. Texas State isn't having a rematch in their bowl game, maybe you can go watch that one.
  4. So the best way to remedy that is to withdraw support for your alma mater? Got it.
  5. I trust you'd have taken off to play notable opponents Idaho, Georgia Southern, or South Alabama.
  6. Just don't whine the next time we go bowling and get stuck in the bfe bowl because of poor attendance this year. Any bowl in the metroplex (where we recruit heavily) against a known team like Army is huge for us. You don't think the DeSoto kids will notice this game? The more of us that show and the louder we are is huge for getting a player wanting to play for us. No kid wants to play in front of a dead fan base or in an empty stadium. Those of you complaining about playing Army because you aren't excited about the opponent I trust stayed home for the Bethune Cookman game.
  7. Are the tickets through the ticket office based on priority points again where you get what they send you? Last time I would've been on the 2nd deck through the ticket office but went through Ticketmaster and was on the UNLV side row 6 at the 46. Very good seats for the same or less money. Yes, I understand it is better for the school for us to purchase through the ticket office.
  8. Interview and hire aren't the same thing. Title doesn't match your story. Edit:..at least you corrected it or somebody did for you.
  9. Plus the awkwardness of coaching seniors you don't know for just one game.
  10. While we are at it, since G5 is looked at differently and has to play by different rules at the kiddie table, I suggest allowing transferring from P5 to G5 without sitting out. You dont have to sit out for transferring down, just up and there is no denying G5s are seen as a step down by the P5s.
  11. And more recently these two guys.
  12. I will never understand why people trust Wikipedia. It should always be used as a last resort because people like to monkey around on there so much.
  13. Brown ran out of the spread. It wasn't until the '10 season after losing the NC to Alabama that he tried to go pro-style. Know what else? Bama now runs the spread offense, with a mobile Texas HS quarterback.
  14. Yes, the Mack Brown that went to 2 National Championship games(winning one) running the spread offense with 2 mobile Texas HS quarterbacks. The same Mack Brown that lost to Alabama in his last National Championship game and decided to try and be Alabama. He subsequently went 5-7, fired his OC, and proceeded to get fired himself just 3 years later.
  15. And not a 9 loss season between the two of them. As did Todd Dodge. Remember, the APR is a 4 year average so while improving the individual year scores, he was still weighted down by Dickey's scholarship-reduction inducing scores for his tenure here. McCarney's third year score of 970 is the first year with no Dickey-recruited player included in the 4 year average. Remember the husbands and fathers
  16. Jeff Traylor but I'm on board with getting him to be a recruiting coordinator or something.
  17. Isn't trying to be more like Alabama what got Mack Brown fired? After losing the '09 NC game to Bama, he decided he wanted to be Alabama and go back to the Ricky Williams days but by that time, most Texas high schools were running the spread. You base your system on the best talent available to you. You want to win with Texas players? You run the spread. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1539637-texas-going-with-up-tempo-offense-is-mack-browns-last-stand This dude obviously isn't familiar with Texas football within the past decade and a half.
  18. Same reason Mike Vick, Pacman Jones, Lawrence Phillips, and Maurice Clarett got 2nd and sometimes 3rd chances. They are good at what they do and at some point they have to be forgiven of their sins. Same reason Briles will be coaching again by 2018. They aren't just going to go onto welfare. Also, this was apparently a campus-wide problem with 10 percent involving football players. I'd say that is more on the shoulders of Ken Starr than anybody.
  19. I thought Dodge was the one that began to improve our APR and Mac just continued it? I remember Dickey's caused some scholly reductions at the end of his tenure. Data
  20. Must be serious enough to kick your leading receiver off the team.
  21. I think his play calling can leave but his name recognition is definitely a helpful recruiting tool.
  22. I'd like to see Baylor hire Charlie instead of Morris to clean up that program while he finds a way to beat UT. He is certainly a man of character and I'd enjoy that very much.
