  1. Completely contradicts the naysayers (who didn't even go to the game) calling the game an embarrassment.
  2. Although they did run the flea-flicker! Dickey reached DEEEEEP into his bag of tricks for that one.
  3. An Arknasas State graduate invented the toothbrush. ... Anyone else would have called it a "teethbrush".
  4. And five must be better than 6, otherwise we'd have 7.
  5. Those who didn't stay (or didn't go at all) and criticize the team and the fans for their outpouring of emotion at the end of the game can't appreciate how emotionally draining the game was. And for the kids, they were on a knee between plays (both teams), on a knee on the sidelines.... After the last kick, half the FIU defense were laying on the field, heartbroken and spent.
  6. You know as painfull as it is I had to let a few people go over the years. Yogi Berra, Lou Pinella, Bucky Dent, Billy Martin, Dallas Green, Dick Houser, Bill Virdon, Billy Martin, Scott Marrow, Billy Martin, Bob Lemmon, Billy Martin, Gene Michael, Buck Showalter, … uh, tut!, . . .George, you didn't hear that from me. [George exits] . . . George!
  7. Dickey SHOULD be fired, and when the season is over I'm certain the axe will fall. But tonight's game was exciting. It was fun to witness history. An ugly win, but one I'll always remember.
  8. Were you at the game? Obviously not. If UNT beat FIU 25-22 in regulation, I would be like "God, we squeaked that one out". It was such a bizarre turn of events... you just knew whoever LOST was going to be heartbroken. ESPN just mentioned the game, but no footage. Maybe tomorrow.
  9. It WAS long, wasn't it! Almost 4 1/2 hours. During that excruciatingly long touchdown drive, the radio guys said "Can you believe this drive started on the FIU 48?"
  10. http://www.sportsline.com/collegefootball/...0061007_FIU@NTX DENTON, Texas – Denis Hopovac's fifth field goal of the game in an NCAA record-tying seventh overtime gave North Texas a 25-22 victory over Florida International on Saturday night. Hopovac connected from 34 yards after he and Florida International counterpart Dustin Rivest each missed four field goals in overtime. Hopovac also tied an NCAA record with nine attempts. North Texas (2-4, 1-1 Sun Belt) entered the game as the only Division I-A team that hadn't played an overtime game since the NCAA instituted the rule in 1996. The other two seven-overtime games involved Arkansas – against Mississippi in 2001 and Kentucky in 2003. Daniel Meager, who had replaced starting quarterback Woody Wilson in the fourth quarter, led North Texas' rally for a 16-13 lead. Hopovac kicked a 23-yard field goal, and Meager threw a 5-yard touchdown pass to Johnny Quinn, then ran 2 yards for a 2-point conversion with 2 minutes to play. Florida International's Lionel Singleton returned the kickoff 40 yards to midfield. From there, the Golden Panthers (0-6, 0-3) moved in to set up Rivest's tying 28-yard field goal with 2 seconds remaining. North Texas led 5-0 at halftime, getting a safety when Caleb Miller snapped the ball over punter Chris Cook's head and through the end zone and Hopovac's first field goal, a 35-yarder. The Golden Panthers went ahead in the third quarter on Josh Padrick's 21-yard touchdown pass to tight end Andy Anderson, but Rivest's miss on the extra point kept the score at 6-5. Later in the quarter, FIU defensive end Antwan Barnes returned a leaping interception 23 yards for a touchdown, the second of his career, to give the Panthers a 13-5 lead. North Texas' Jamario Thomas had a 124 yards rushing on 38 carries. Reams, filling in for injured tailback A'mond Ned, gained 96 yards in 27 attempts.
  11. No, they are not kidding. It was an emotionally exhausting game, and while I agree that there were some embarrassing mistakes, this game is going to be on Sportscenter! What's the old saying...? There's no such thing as bad press.
  12. I stayed till the very end. After 7 OTs, it was an exciting win. The student section stormed the field and so did a good portion of the alumni side. Lots of things to fix, but tonight I'm enjoying this victory.
  13. BTW, SMU fans have no class. When I got back to my car, my car flag was snapped off and the window pulled off its track.
  14. Can someone explain their mascot to me? When was the last time Tulsa, OK was hit by a hurricane????????
  15. I was already at work, trying to fix some problems with our web server. I had a little program showing the web traffic when it suddenly plummeted down to zero. A few minutes later my g/f called and told me to turn on the radio...
  16. Well I thought the flea flicker play late in the 4th was a bad call. It seemed DD wanted to run all night, then when it came time to chew the clock he calls a trick play???
  17. I think their band changed their clothes 3 times. And what was with their band starting up while OUR band was on the field playing for the pre-game show??? Kinda rude...
  18. For me, one of the best things about this game was seeing those SMUs across the field, silently sitting there like stunned sheep. Good win for the program! If Woody Wilson doesn't start next week, Dickey is insane.
  19. Most of the executives at my company are SMU grads. Four of them are going to the game.
